EDD SDI nightmare: 4 weeks no response, identity verification issues, can't reach Spanish line. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a really tough time with my disability claim. I sent in my doctor's form about 4 weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back. I'm also having trouble verifying my identity. I tried calling the Spanish line, but my call got disconnected. I'm currently disabled with no income coming in. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a nightmare rn. Have you tried faxing your docs? Sometimes that works better than mailing.

•I haven't tried faxing yet. Do you know if there's a specific fax number for disability claims?

•Yeah, there is! It's 1-855-342-3057 for SDI claims. Hope that helps!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep when were already struggling 😩

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. I was spending more on my phone bill trying to get through lol

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through faster.

omg the identity verification is THE WORST. i've been stuck in that loop for like 2 months now. 😭 keep calling and don't give up!

•2 months?! That's insane. Did you ever get it resolved?

•Finally did last week. Had to send in like 5 different forms of ID. It's ridiculous.

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have to try a few days in a row, but that's how I finally got through.

Here's what worked for me with the identity verification: 1. Make sure ALL your info matches exactly across all documents 2. Send in a clear, color copy of your driver's license or state ID 3. Include a recent utility bill or bank statement 4. Write your claim number on EVERY page you send 5. Keep copies of everything It's a pain, but if you're thorough, it can speed things up. Good luck!

Have you considered applying for emergency cash aid while you wait for your disability to come through? Might help tide you over.

•I didn't even know that was an option. Where would I apply for that?

•Check with your county's social services office. They usually handle those kinds of programs.
