EDD SDI claim pending for 1+ week, not found by SSN when calling - Help needed
I submitted my claim on June 4th and it's still showing as pending online. When I call in, they can't even find my claim using my SSN. The online summary details are missing too. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm worried about the payment details changing and I haven't received any confirmation email except for an FMLA form for a family member. It's been over a week now and I'm getting anxious. Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

PSA: If anyone's having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right at 8:01 AM. That's when their system resets and you have the best chance of getting in the queue. Worked for me after weeks of trying!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've double-checked my spam folder and I'm sure I'm using the right SSN. It's just frustrating that it shows up online but not when I call. I'm worried about missing out on payments.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

Oof, sounds like you're in for a wild ride. My advice? Grab a coffee, put on some calming music, and prepare to spend your day on hold. It sucks, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers. Good luck, friend! π

Haha, thanks for the reality check. I'll make sure to charge my phone and have plenty of snacks ready for the hold music marathon.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was a discrepancy between the name on my claim and my official records (I had recently gotten married). Might be worth double-checking all your info matches exactly.

Has anyone else noticed that the hold music is actually kinda fire? Or is that just the sleep deprivation talking? π΅π€

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to local news? Sometimes public pressure helps.

Have you tried the "Contact Us" form on the EDD website? I know it sounds basic, but I actually got a response within 48 hours when I used it. Worth a shot!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20? That's steep. Why should we have to pay to get help with our claims? π

Anyone else notice that the EDD website always seems to crash right when you need it most? It's like they're trolling us at this point π

For real tho, they need to upgrade their servers or something. It's 2023, this shouldn't be happening!

One alternative you could consider is using Claimyr, as someone mentioned. While it does cost $20, Claimyr has been reported by some to expedite the process of getting connected to a representative. However, it is important to weigh the cost and recognize that paying for expedited service should not be a necessity. The EDD system is notoriously backlogged and inefficient, and many people are in the same situation. If you decide to use it, just ensure you're making an informed choice. Additionally, keep trying the free avenues: calling at unconventional hours, using online contact forms, and reaching out to state representatives. The key is persistence.

Thanks for the insight on Claimyr. I'm hesitant about the cost but might consider it if nothing else works.

I used Claimyr and it worked for me, but I get why it's frustrating to have to pay for help with your own claim.

Quick question - did you receive any error messages when you submitted your claim online? Sometimes there are glitches in the system that can cause issues like this.

No error messages that I can remember. Everything seemed to go through fine, which makes this even more confusing.

Have you tried checking your spam folder for the confirmation email? Sometimes those messages get filtered out. Also, make sure you're using the correct SSN when you call - I once transposed two numbers and freaked out when they couldn't find my claim.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes you can backdoor your way to the right person.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. The early morning right when they open is usually the best time to get through. 3. Use the online portal to send a message about your claim status. Sometimes they respond faster this way. 4. If all else fails, contact your state representative or senator. They often have liaisons who can escalate your case. 5. Check if there are any local unemployment assistance organizations in your area. They might be able to provide guidance. 6. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

In my experience, it can take anywhere from 3-10 business days for them to respond to online messages. But it's still worth doing alongside your other efforts.
