EDD SDI: ID.me Error - Driver's License Linked to Unknown Account, Can't Reach Support
Has anyone else had trouble with their drivers license number being linked to another account when trying to verify through ID.me? I keep getting an error message saying my license is associated with a different account, but I know for sure I've never made another account. It's so frustrating! I've tried calling the number they gave me (800-480-3287) but I can't get through to a real person. Any advice on how to fix this or get in touch with someone who can help?

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I'll keep trying to call and maybe give that Claimyr thing a shot if I get desperate enough. This whole process is so frustrating π«

I had the exact same issue! It's a total nightmare. I spent hours trying to get through to someone on that number. Turns out, there was a mix-up in their system. Keep trying to call, eventually you'll get through to someone who can help.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it sounds like we're back in the 90s, but I've heard some people have had success with that method.

β’Faxing? What's next, sending a telegram? π But hey, if it works, it works!

β’OMG, I actually tried this and it worked! Had to dust off my old fax machine, but it got the job done. Thanks for the tip!

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape and get you in touch with the right people at EDD.

β’That's a smart approach. Elected officials can be surprisingly effective in these situations.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's insane! Is it legit?

β’Idk man, sounds like a scam to me. Why should we have to pay to access government services?

β’I get the skepticism, but it's not a scam. It's just a service that does the waiting for you. Time is money, ya know? π€·ββοΈ

β’I used Claimyr too and found it helpful, but I agree, it's not ideal to pay for what should be a basic service.

Ugh, the system is so broken. I swear they make it difficult on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. Hang in there, OP!

β’It's hard not to feel that way when you're stuck in the system for so long. Let's hope they improve it soon.

I work in IT, and I've seen this kind of issue before. It's possible there's a data integrity problem on their end. When you do get through to someone, make sure to ask them to check for any duplicate records or mismatched data fields. Sometimes it's as simple as a typo in the database.

β’Ooh, good point! I never thought about it from a technical perspective. OP, definitely mention this when you talk to someone!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything: Take screenshots of error messages, write down dates and times of your attempts. 2. Persistence is key: Keep calling, even if it takes multiple days. 3. Be prepared: Have all your info ready when you call (SSN, ID number, etc.) 4. Ask for a supervisor: If the first person can't help, politely request to speak with a higher-up. 5. Follow up: After the call, send an email summarizing what was discussed and any promised actions. 6. Consider alternate contact methods: Try their social media channels or email if phone isn't working. Hope this helps! Don't give up, you'll get it sorted eventually.

Just a heads up, there's been a lot of identity theft related to unemployment claims lately. Make sure you're extra careful about protecting your personal info when dealing with this stuff.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that can help with ID.me issues. Also, double-check that you're entering your license number correctly. I know it sounds obvious, but I made that mistake once π€¦ββοΈ

Have you tried contacting ID.me directly? They might be able to help resolve the issue on their end without having to go through EDD.

Navigating ID verification systems like ID.me can indeed be frustrating, especially when encountering errors related to account links. Here are some steps to consider: First, verify that all entered data is accurate. Even a small typo can cause issues. Second, clear your browser's cache and cookies, as these sometimes interfere with submission processes. Third, try reaching out directly to ID.me through their help center or social media, as they might have insights into account-specific issues. It's also worth trying alternative verification methods if available. For persistent problems, contacting your local representatives or using services like Claimyr can expedite the process, though they come with a fee. With Claimyr, while it provides a legitimate and effective service for many, it's crucial to weigh the cost against the urgency of your situation. Lastly, keep a detailed record of all your communications and attempts, as this can aid in troubleshooting and provide evidence if needed for official queries. Remember, you're not alone in this struggle, and persistence often pays off. Stay diligent and patient, and hopefully, a resolution will arrive soon.

I'm dealing with the exact same ID.me driver's license issue right now! It's incredibly frustrating when the system says your license is linked to another account that you know doesn't exist. I've been banging my head against this wall for weeks. From what I've read here, it seems like persistence with calling is key, even though it's painful. I'm also going to try that suggestion about asking them to check for duplicate records or database errors - that actually makes a lot of sense from a technical standpoint. Has anyone had luck with trying different browsers or devices when doing the ID.me verification? Sometimes these systems can be finicky about that stuff too. Thanks for posting this - at least we know we're not alone in this nightmare! π€

β’Same boat here! I've been stuck on this for almost a month now. The different browser suggestion is actually really smart - I hadn't thought of that. I tried switching from Chrome to Firefox and it didn't fix the main issue, but the error messages were slightly different which gave me some clues. Also, if you haven't already, try using an incognito/private browsing window. Sometimes cached data can mess things up even more. The database duplicate thing makes total sense too - I bet their system has tons of data integrity issues. Keep us posted on what works for you!
