EDD SDI Bank Card Delivery Timeline - Still Waiting After Approval
After a nightmare of back-and-forth with EDD, my SDI claim was finally approved on Monday (filed back on Feb 10th, so it took nearly 4 weeks). The rep I spoke with said everything is processed, but couldn't tell me exactly when I'll get my Bank of America EDD card. This is my first time on disability and I'm getting anxious since rent is coming up. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for the card to arrive after approval? The website just says "7-10 business days" but I've heard horror stories about mail delays. Should I be calling BofA directly or just keep waiting? Anyone receive their card recently that can share their timeline?

Mine took exactly 9 days after approval to arrive, and that was just last month. Most likely you'll see it next week. One tip - when it does arrive, activate it immediately and set up the online account to track your payments. The BofA EDD website is separate from the regular BofA banking system, so you'll need to create a new login specifically for your disability card.

•Thank you! That's reassuring. Did they send you any kind of tracking number or notification when it shipped? I'm checking my mailbox obsessively every day.

YOU MIGHT NEVER GET IT!!! My first card got lost in the mail and EDD kept saying "just wait a few more days" for THREE WEEKS before they'd request a replacement!!! Call BofA EDD card services at 1-866-692-9374 ASAP and see if they can tell you if it's been mailed yet. If it's been more than 10 business days, demand they cancel that card and send a new one with expedited shipping!!!

•This is overly alarming and not typical. While occasionally cards do get lost, the vast majority arrive without issue. The standard timeframe of 7-10 business days (not calendar days) is accurate for most people. OP's claim was just approved this week, so they're still well within the normal waiting period.

•Thanks! I'm trying not to stress, but it's hard when you're watching your bank account dwindle. Glad to hear yours came quickly.

The Bank of America EDD debit cards typically arrive 7-10 business days after claim approval, exactly as the website states. Here's the normal timeline: 1. Claim approval processed in the EDD system 2. Payment certification processed (usually 1-2 days after approval) 3. Funds transfer to Bank of America (1 business day) 4. Card production initiated 5. Card mailed via USPS First Class Mail (3-5 business days) If you don't receive it by the end of next week, then you should contact Bank of America EDD card services at 1-866-692-9374 to check status. They can tell you exactly when it was mailed and request a replacement if needed.

•This timeline is really helpful! I'm in a similar situation - approved last week and anxiously waiting. Question though - can I see in my SDI Online account when the payment is actually sent to BofA? Or does it just show as 'paid' with no additional details?

To answer your question, @profile4, your SDI Online account will show a payment status of 'Paid' with the payment issue date once the funds are sent to Bank of America. However, this status update sometimes lags a day or two behind the actual transfer. You won't see shipping information for the card itself in your SDI account - that's handled entirely by Bank of America.

My SDI experience was different than most ppl here. Got approved and waited 2 weeks, no card. Called BOA and they said EDD never sent my info to them! Had to call EDD but couldn't get through for days. Was going crazy with bills due. Finally found Claimyr.com which got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes (there's even a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd). The EDD agent found that my address had a typo which was why BOA never got my info properly. They fixed it and I got my card 8 days later. Might be worth checking if everything was transmitted correctly in your case too.

•Oh wow, I hadn't even considered there might be a data transmission issue. I'll give EDD a call tomorrow to verify they sent everything to BofA correctly. Thanks for the tip about Claimyr - I've been trying to get through on the regular line without any luck.

I just went thru this whole process last month! It actually took EXACTLY 10 business days from when my claim was approved til the card showed up. I was freaking out too cause I had bills due, but it arrived right on day 10. One thing - when it does come, the envelope is super plain and doesn't say Bank of America or EDD anywhere on it. Almost threw mine away thinking it was junk mail!!! Just watch for a plain white envelope with a Sacramento return address.

•Thank you for the envelope tip! I definitely would have expected something official-looking with BofA branding. I'll keep an eye out for plain envelopes too.

•Excellent news! Glad it arrived in a timely manner. Don't forget to activate it right away and set up the online account with Bank of America's EDD card portal so you can track future payments.

Hey Evan! I'm in almost the exact same situation - my SDI claim was approved this past Tuesday and I'm also anxiously waiting for my card to arrive. Reading through all these responses has been really helpful and reassuring. It sounds like most people get their cards within 7-10 business days, so we should both see ours next week hopefully. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for that plain envelope someone mentioned - I would have totally thrown that away thinking it was junk mail! Thanks for posting this question, it's exactly what I needed to see right now.

•Hey Jeremiah! It's so nice to find someone in the exact same boat - I was starting to feel like I was the only one stressing about this. Tuesday approval means you're just a day behind me, so hopefully we'll both get our cards around the same time next week. I've been checking my mailbox like three times a day since Monday, but reading everyone's experiences here has really helped calm my nerves. Definitely keeping an eye out for that plain envelope now! Feel free to update when yours arrives - it'll be interesting to see if our timelines match up since we were approved so close together.

Just wanted to share my recent experience to help ease your anxiety! I got approved for SDI on March 14th and my card arrived yesterday (March 27th) - so that was exactly 9 business days. Like others mentioned, the envelope really is super plain and generic looking. I almost missed it because it just looked like random mail! One thing I learned that might help you: if you create an account on the BofA EDD website (prepaid.bankofamerica.com/eddcard), you can actually see when your card has been issued even before it arrives in the mail. It won't show shipping tracking, but at least you'll know it's been produced and sent out. That helped me stop obsessively checking my mailbox every few hours! Hang in there - based on your Monday approval, you should definitely see it by early next week. The waiting is the worst part, but it does come!

•This is super helpful Jessica! I had no idea you could check the BofA EDD website to see if the card has been issued. I'm definitely going to try creating an account there tomorrow to see if there's any status update. It's reassuring to hear your timeline - 9 business days from approval sounds pretty standard based on what everyone's been sharing. I'm trying to stay patient but it's tough when you're in that financial limbo waiting for the funds to become accessible. Thanks for the tip about the website, that'll definitely help me feel more in control of the situation!

I'm currently going through the same waiting period after my SDI approval last week. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful - it's reassuring to see that most people receive their cards within that 7-10 business day window. I especially appreciate the tips about the plain envelope (would have definitely tossed that as junk mail!) and being able to check the BofA EDD website for card status. The financial stress while waiting is real, but it sounds like the system generally works as advertised. Thanks for starting this thread Evan - it's exactly the kind of real-world timeline info that's hard to find elsewhere!

•Absolutely agree Amina! I'm also in the waiting phase after approval and this thread has been a lifesaver. It's amazing how much the real experiences from actual people help vs just reading the generic "7-10 business days" on the website. The plain envelope tip alone probably saved me from accidentally throwing away my card when it arrives! I'm bookmarking this thread to come back and share my timeline once my card shows up - hopefully we can all help future people going through this same anxious waiting period. The community support here really makes a difference when you're dealing with the stress of disability and financial uncertainty.

I'm in the exact same situation right now! My SDI claim was approved on Wednesday and I've been refreshing my mailbox constantly since then. This thread has been so reassuring - it's crazy how much better real people's experiences are compared to just seeing "7-10 business days" on the official websites. I had no idea about the plain envelope thing, so thank you everyone for that heads up! I would have 100% thrown that away thinking it was spam mail. I'm going to try creating that BofA EDD account tomorrow to see if there's any card status info. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, especially when you're already dealing with the stress of being unable to work. Really grateful for this community sharing their timelines - makes me feel way less alone in this process!
