lol welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤡 I've been waiting 2 months for my claim to be processed. Good luck!
2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? I've heard that can sometimes help.
Nah, I haven't. Might give that a shot tho. At this point, I'm willing to try anything 😅
lmao imagine expecting the government to be competent 🤡 welcome to the circus, we're all clowns here
bruh 💀
Hey, former EDD employee here. This sounds like a case of crossed wires between departments. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. File an appeal anyway, just to be safe. You have 30 days from the date on the denial letter. 2. Call the disability claims line (not the general EDD line) and ask for a 'claim review' based on the conflicting letters. 3. If you sent your docs via regular mail, resend them via certified mail or fax. 4. Check your online account daily for updates. 5. If you don't see movement in a week, start escalating. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this detailed advice! It's really helpful to hear from someone who knows the system from the inside.
MVP right here 👆 This is why I love this community
its ridiculous how broken the system is. were all just trying to survive here and they make it so dam difficult
Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget these are real people with bills to pay.
Anyone else notice that this seems to happen a lot in July/August? Wonder if it's related to the fiscal year or something 🤔
Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before they send out notices.
Yeah, I check it obsessively. No updates there either 😞
Unpopular opinion: maybe we should privatize the disability insurance system. The government clearly can't handle it efficiently.
Because private insurance companies are sooo much better at paying claims? 🙄
Nah, we just need to properly fund and staff the current system. Privatization would just make it worse for most people.

Have you checked if there are any known system issues or maintenance on the EDD website? Sometimes they have delays due to updates.

Friendly reminder to everyone: ALWAYS keep copies of everything you submit to EDD. You never know when you'll need to prove you sent something!
