lol welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where nothing makes sense and the rules change daily
Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point.
Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I heard from a friend that sometimes that gets faster results than mailing or uploading online.
Laugh all you want, but sometimes old school methods work best with these outdated government systems!
Just a heads up, there's been some changes to the disability benefits system recently. Make sure you're using the most up-to-date forms or your claim might get delayed even more.
I heard they're super backlogged because of covid. Doesn't make it any easier for us tho 😓
Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.
What time do they open? Might try this tomorrow.
8am Pacific Time. Good luck!
Oof, sounds like you're really in the weeds with this one. SDI can be a real clown show sometimes 🤡 Hang in there, OP!
Not sure if this helps, but there are some non-profits that offer financial assistance for people waiting on disability benefits. Might be worth looking into to bridge the gap.
I didn't know about that. Do you know any specific organizations I could check out?
Try searching for 'disability bridge grants' in your area. Also, some condition-specific orgs (like cancer societies) offer help too. Good luck!

Quick question - did you make sure all your medical documentation was up to date and submitted? That was what held up my extension for ages.

•Oh no, I'm not sure actually. How did you find out what documentation they needed?

•I had to call and speak to a rep. They told me exactly what forms were missing. It's a pain, but worth double-checking!
