If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim over a month ago and it's still showing "Pending Processing" with zero updates. The uncertainty is killing me - I have bills to pay and no idea when this will get resolved. I've been reading through all these comments and it sounds like calling early in the morning might be my best bet. Has anyone had luck with submitting additional documentation even if they didn't ask for it? I'm wondering if being proactive might help move things along faster.

Hey Jackie! I'm so sorry you're going through this too - the waiting really is the worst part. From what I've read here, calling right when they open seems to be the best strategy. And yes, I'd definitely recommend being proactive with documentation! Even if they didn't specifically request it, having everything ready can prevent delays if they do need more info later. You might also want to try reaching out to your state representative like someone mentioned earlier - that seems like a really good tip that I hadn't heard before. Hang in there, we'll both get through this eventually! 🤞

I'm in the same boat - filed my SDI claim about 5 weeks ago and it's been stuck in "Pending Processing" ever since. The financial stress is real when you don't know when (or if) you'll get approved. I've tried calling a few times but keep getting those crazy long hold times everyone's talking about. Reading through all these responses is both helpful and depressing - sounds like this is just the norm unfortunately. I think I'm going to try the early morning calling strategy and maybe reach out to my assembly member too. It's wild that we have to become detective-level researchers just to navigate what should be a straightforward process. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least we're not alone in this mess! 💪

I went through a similar transition about 6 months ago and wanted to add a few practical tips that helped me navigate the process: 1. Keep detailed records of your mental health symptoms and how they specifically impact your ability to work - dates, severity, functional limitations. This documentation really helped my psychiatrist complete the DE 2501 form thoroughly. 2. When you meet with your psychiatrist, be very specific about work-related limitations. Don't just say "I'm anxious" - explain how the anxiety prevents you from concentrating during tasks, causes physical symptoms that interfere with job performance, etc. 3. Consider applying for SDI a few days before your last UI certification if your doctor confirms you're disabled. This can help minimize the gap between benefits, though you'll still have the 7-day waiting period. 4. Save some money if possible for that transition period - between the waiting period, processing time, and potentially lower benefit amount, there will likely be a financial gap. The mental health struggle during long-term unemployment is very real. Don't let anyone make you feel like you're trying to game the system - legitimate mental health conditions absolutely can qualify for SDI when properly documented. Good luck with your psychiatrist appointment!

This is incredibly thorough and practical advice, thank you! I especially appreciate the tip about documenting specific work-related limitations rather than just general symptoms. I've been keeping a journal of my anxiety episodes, but I hadn't thought to specifically connect them to work functions. The timing suggestion about applying a few days before my last UI certification is also really helpful - I want to make sure I handle the transition properly to avoid any issues with EDD. It's reassuring to hear from someone who successfully made this transition recently.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation - been unemployed for 6 months and starting to feel the mental health impact too. Reading through these responses has been really eye-opening about the possibility of transitioning to SDI. I had no idea that mental health conditions could qualify if properly documented by a psychiatrist or psychologist. One thing I'm curious about - for those who successfully made the transition, did you find that having a longer unemployment period actually helped establish the timeline of when your mental health condition became disabling? It seems like there might be a difference between temporary job search stress versus a clinical condition that develops over time and genuinely prevents you from working. Also, has anyone dealt with potential employer questions about gaps in employment history when you eventually do return to job searching after SDI? I worry about how to explain that period professionally. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community has been incredibly helpful for navigating these complex EDD programs.

Great questions! From what I've read in this thread, it seems like the key is having your doctor establish a specific date when your condition became disabling - not just when you started feeling stressed about job searching. The longer timeline might actually help show how the condition developed and worsened over time, making it more clearly a legitimate disability rather than temporary frustration. As for explaining employment gaps after SDI, I think most people just say they had a medical condition that's now resolved and they're ready to return to work. Employers can't legally ask for details about your medical history. You could also consider doing some volunteer work or taking online courses during SDI if your condition allows, which gives you something positive to point to during that period. The documentation aspect that @Benjamin Carter mentioned seems really important - showing how your symptoms specifically interfere with work tasks rather than just general distress. It sounds like there s'a real difference between job "search is stressful and" clinical "anxiety prevents me from functioning in professional settings.

Hey Alana! I just went through this nightmare myself a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: First, make sure you've updated your name with Social Security Administration - EDD won't process the change without that being done first. When you call EDD, ask specifically for the "name change department" - they have specialists who handle this stuff. Also, have your marriage certificate, old ID, new ID, and Social Security card all ready to go. The agent will need the certificate number and issue date from your marriage license. One more tip: if the first agent says they can't help, politely ask to be transferred to a supervisor. Sometimes the regular agents aren't familiar with the name change process. It took me 3 calls but I finally got it sorted out. Don't give up - you'll get there! 💪

This is incredibly helpful! I had no idea there was a specific "name change department" at EDD. That's definitely going to save me time instead of getting bounced around to different agents. The tip about having the marriage certificate number and issue date ready is super practical too - I would have never thought to have those specific details on hand. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed advice from your experience! 🙏

I'm dealing with the same issue right now! Just got married three weeks ago and EDD's system is being such a pain. Reading through all these comments is giving me hope though. I think I'll try calling that technical support line first like Emma suggested - that sounds like a really smart approach to get the account flagged before dealing with the regular claims department. Also definitely going to make sure I have my Social Security name change done first. This whole thread is a goldmine of info! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Sometimes it really helps to know you're not alone in dealing with these bureaucratic headaches! 🤗

Welcome to the married life and the EDD name change club! 😅 It's so reassuring to see everyone sharing their experiences here. I'm actually going through something similar myself - haven't gotten married yet but I've been helping my sister navigate this exact process. One thing I'd add to all the great advice here is to keep a detailed log of every call you make (date, time, agent name if they give it, reference numbers, what was discussed). It's been super helpful for my sister when she had to call back and reference previous conversations. Also, don't be afraid to ask the agent to repeat important information or spell out reference numbers - better to double-check than have to start over! Good luck with everything! 🍀

EDD rejected my SDI claim because I'm receiving workers' comp - confused about concurrent benefits

I injured my back in October 2024 working at a construction site and have been on modified duties since December. My doctor restricted me to 3-hour shifts so I'm only working 15 hours weekly instead of my normal 40. I've been receiving workers' comp payments of $143/week, but that plus my reduced paycheck (about $378 after taxes) isn't enough to cover my family's expenses. I applied for SDI last month thinking I could get partial disability since my hours were cut due to my injury. I went through the whole process - completed the medical certification with my doctor, did a phone interview, and even got a letter saying I was approved for around $425/week. But when I started certifying, I honestly reported both my part-time work hours and my workers' comp payments. Then I got a denial letter saying I'm not eligible for SDI while receiving workers' comp! I'm so confused because the initial approval letter seemed like they understood my situation. I filed an appeal for the first payment period, explaining everything about my financial situation and why I need the additional support, but the EDD rep just told me appeal hearings are backlogged until MARCH 2025! Do I need to keep appealing every week they deny me? Is there any way to receive both workers' comp AND partial SDI when the workers' comp amount is so small? We're falling behind on bills and my wife can only work part-time because of our childcare situation. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm new to this community but going through something very similar right now. Got injured at my retail job in January and I'm also stuck in this partial disability limbo - working reduced hours due to medical restrictions while getting minimal workers comp. Reading through everyone's advice here has been incredibly helpful. I had no idea about the wage replacement differential concept or that initial SDI approvals could indicate partial eligibility. I'm definitely going to look into that Claimyr service too since I've been trying to reach EDD for weeks with no luck. One thing I wanted to add - my union rep mentioned that some people in our situation have had success filing for CalFresh (food stamps) and other assistance programs to bridge the financial gap while fighting the benefits issues. It's not ideal, but it can help with basic expenses while you're waiting for appeals or exploring other options. The system really does seem designed to wear people down rather than help injured workers. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and advice!

Welcome to the community! It's frustrating that so many of us are dealing with this same issue - really shows how broken the system is for injured workers. The CalFresh suggestion is smart - I hadn't thought about supplementing with other assistance programs while fighting the benefits battle. I'm definitely going to look into applying for food assistance too. Between reduced work hours, minimal workers comp, and no SDI, every bit helps. Did your union rep mention any other programs that might be available? I'm not union but wondering if there are state programs I should know about. It sounds like we're all learning that this isn't just a simple "you can't get both benefits" situation - there seem to be more options and exceptions than the initial denial letters suggest. Hopefully some of us can report back with success stories soon to help others in the same boat.

I'm new here but unfortunately dealing with a very similar situation. Got hurt at my manufacturing job back in December and I'm also caught in this workers comp/SDI limbo. Reading through all these responses has been both helpful and frustrating - helpful because there seem to be more options than I realized, frustrating because it confirms how unnecessarily complicated the system is. A few things I've learned from my own research that might help: 1. Make sure you're reporting your workers comp correctly on your SDI certification. I found out I was supposed to report it as "other income" rather than just mentioning it in the comments section. 2. If you're still within the appeal window, consider requesting an "expedited review" due to financial hardship. I'm not sure if it actually speeds things up, but it's worth mentioning your family's situation. 3. Check if your county has any emergency assistance programs for injured workers. Mine has a small fund that can help with utilities while you're waiting for benefits to sort out. The wage gap calculation that @Freya Johansen mentioned sounds promising - definitely going to look into that angle for my own case. It makes sense that SDI should be able to cover the difference when workers comp is clearly inadequate. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. It helps knowing we're not alone in this mess!

I'm new to this community and just wanted to say thank you all for sharing such detailed experiences and helpful advice! I'm currently going through the SDI application process myself (just submitted my claim yesterday) and reading through this entire thread has been incredibly valuable. It's reassuring to know there are specific steps I can take if my claim gets stuck, like checking for date discrepancies and using services like Claimyr to actually reach someone at EDD. Sofia, I'm so glad your claim finally got resolved - your updates throughout this process really help newcomers like me understand what to expect and how to advocate for ourselves. This community seems like such a supportive resource for navigating the complexity of California's disability system!

Welcome Aisha! As someone who just went through this whole process, I can't stress enough how helpful this community has been. The key things that made the difference for me were: 1) checking daily for any EDD messages (even though I never got email notifications), 2) continuing to certify even while pending, and 3) not being afraid to call when things seemed stuck. The Claimyr service really was a game-changer - I probably would have waited weeks longer without it. Keep us posted on how your claim progresses, and don't hesitate to ask questions along the way. We're all here to help each other through this system!

Welcome to the community, Aisha! Your timing is perfect - you filed just yesterday so you're still in the early stages. One thing I learned from following Sofia's journey is to keep detailed records of everything (dates, times of calls, any correspondence) from the very beginning. It really helps if you need to reference something later when talking to EDD representatives. Also, make sure to screenshot your claim status regularly so you can track any changes. The waiting can be nerve-wracking, but having this community for support and practical advice makes such a difference. Looking forward to hearing about your progress!

This thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation - filed my SDI claim 3 weeks ago and it's still showing pending. Reading through everyone's experiences, I realize I should probably try calling EDD instead of just waiting. Sofia, it's so encouraging to hear that your claim got resolved quickly once you reached someone - gives me hope that mine might just need a small fix too. I'm definitely going to check out that Claimyr service since I've been having the same issue with busy signals and high call volume messages. Thank you all for sharing such detailed advice and creating such a supportive community for people navigating this stressful process!

Welcome to the community, Aisha! Three weeks is definitely getting into that territory where it makes sense to be proactive about reaching out to EDD. From following this thread, it seems like so many delays are caused by small discrepancies or missing information that could be resolved quickly if you can just get through to the right person. The Claimyr service really does seem to be worth trying based on everyone's experiences here. I hope your situation gets resolved as smoothly as Sofia's did! Keep us posted on how it goes - your experience will help the next person who finds themselves in the same situation.
