If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Hey Liam! I went through this same confusion a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: 1. If you have a claim number, you can sometimes check your status online through the EDD portal 2. Your doctor's office should have a copy of the form they submitted - they can tell you the duration they certified 3. The payment start date is typically 8 days after your disability began (there's a 7-day waiting period) 4. If you got any paperwork when you first applied, look for an "Award Notice" - it usually has all the key dates I know the phone lines are brutal, but if you can get through, they can give you exact dates. The early morning calling tip someone mentioned really does help! Don't give up - once you get the info, it makes everything so much clearer. 🤞

This is super helpful, @Elijah O'Reilly! I didn't know about the Award Notice - I'll definitely look through my paperwork again. The 7-day waiting period thing makes sense now too. Thanks for breaking it down step by step! 🙏

I just went through this exact same thing last month! Here's what I learned: You can actually check your payment start date by logging into your EDD online account and looking under "Claim Summary" - it should show your benefit year and weekly benefit amount. For the disability duration, call your doctor's office directly and ask them to check what they put on your DI-2501 form (that's the physician's certificate). They certified you for a specific time period and should be able to tell you right away. Also, if you haven't received your first payment yet, it typically takes 2-3 weeks from when your claim is approved. Hope this helps - the whole process is definitely confusing but you'll get through it! 💪

I'm so sorry for your loss and everything you're going through right now. Losing a parent while dealing with pregnancy complications is heartbreaking, and the financial stress on top of grief must feel overwhelming. You've received fantastic advice here! Just to add one more perspective - I work in healthcare administration and see SDI cases regularly. You absolutely qualify based on your work history and SDI contributions. The 3-month gap since leaving your job is well within the timeframe that allows eligibility. A few practical suggestions: - When your doctor completes the DE 2501, ask them to include specific dates for when your disability began (this could be earlier than when you apply if your complications started weeks ago) - Keep a simple log of your symptoms (headaches, vision changes, swelling measurements, blood pressure readings) - this documentation can be helpful if any questions arise - If possible, apply during business hours when the online system tends to run more smoothly Your situation is exactly what SDI was designed for - temporary disability support for working people who paid into the system. You've earned this assistance through your contributions. Sending you strength for both the application process and the remainder of your pregnancy. Take care of yourself and that little one! 💕

Thank you so much Fiona! Your perspective from healthcare administration is incredibly reassuring. I really appreciate the specific suggestions about asking my doctor to include dates for when my disability actually began - I think my complications really started getting serious about 2 weeks ago, so that could help. The idea of keeping a symptom log is brilliant too - I've been tracking my blood pressure at home anyway, so I'll start documenting everything more systematically. It's such a relief to hear from someone who works with these cases regularly that my situation is exactly what SDI is designed for. I was starting to second-guess myself, but everyone here has helped me realize I've earned this support. I'm planning to apply this morning during business hours like you suggested. Thank you for the encouragement and for taking the time to share your professional insights! 💕

I'm so incredibly sorry for the loss of your father. Going through grief while managing pregnancy complications and financial stress is beyond difficult, and you're showing incredible strength by advocating for yourself and your baby. Everyone here has given you excellent guidance about SDI eligibility - you absolutely qualify since you worked and paid into the system for 2 years! I just wanted to add a few quick tips from my own experience: - Screenshot or save confirmation numbers from every step of your online application - If you run into any technical issues with the SDI Online portal, try different browsers or clear your cache - Your doctor can potentially backdate your disability start date if your complications began before you apply, which could mean retroactive benefits Also, please don't hesitate to reach out to local pregnancy support organizations while waiting for benefits to process. Many offer emergency assistance specifically for situations like yours. You're doing everything right by seeking help during this challenging time. Your father would be proud of how you're taking care of yourself and his grandchild. This community is here to support you through this process! ❤️

This entire thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I'm currently on week 3 of waiting for my second SDI payment after a back surgery, and reading everyone's experiences makes me feel less alone in this frustrating process. The date discrepancy issue that Danielle discovered seems to be way more common than it should be. It's honestly ridiculous that EDD's system can't automatically flag these mismatches before they cause weeks of payment delays. I'm definitely going to call my doctor's office first thing Monday to verify they have my exact claim dates correct before submitting any more certifications. For anyone else dealing with this - it sounds like being proactive about checking those dates with your medical provider could save a lot of headaches down the road. Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories and solutions!

Absolutely agree about being proactive! I'm new here but dealing with a similar situation - waiting on my first SDI payment after knee surgery last month. Reading through all these experiences has been both eye-opening and nerve-wracking. It's frustrating that such a critical system has these recurring issues, especially when people are already dealing with medical recovery and financial strain. I'm definitely going to call my doctor's office this week to make sure they have all my dates right from the start. Thanks to everyone for sharing - it's really helpful to know what potential issues to watch out for and that there are usually solutions once you can get through to someone at EDD.

This whole thread has been so helpful to read! I'm currently dealing with my first SDI claim after a shoulder injury and haven't received any payments yet, but now I know exactly what to watch out for. The date discrepancy issue seems to be the biggest culprit for delays, which is something I never would have thought to check. I'm going to call my doctor's office tomorrow to make sure they have all the correct dates from my original claim before they submit anything. It's really frustrating that EDD's system has these recurring technical issues that cause so much stress for people who are already dealing with medical recovery and lost income. Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions - it gives me confidence that even if issues come up, there are ways to get them resolved!

Just wanted to add my experience since I went through this exact same switch about 4 months ago! I was nervous about calling EDD because of all the horror stories about wait times, but I followed the advice here about calling right at 8 AM and got through in about 25 minutes. The representative was actually really friendly and knowledgeable - she walked me through the whole process and even explained that once I got the debit card, I could set up automatic transfers to my bank account so I wouldn't have to remember to move the money each time. The card arrived in 9 business days and activation was a breeze. One thing I wish I'd known beforehand is that you can actually call Bank of America directly at the number on the back of the EDD card if you have any issues with activation or transfers - you don't have to go back through EDD for card-related problems. The convenience of instant access to funds versus waiting for checks to arrive and then clear has been amazing, especially when you're already dealing with the stress of being out of work due to disability. Definitely recommend making the switch!

This is such helpful information! I really appreciate you mentioning the Bank of America direct number - that's definitely something I wouldn't have thought of. The automatic transfer setup sounds perfect since I'm pretty forgetful about moving money around manually. It's reassuring to hear that the EDD reps are actually knowledgeable about this process since it seems like such a common request. I'm feeling much more confident about calling now after reading everyone's positive experiences. The convenience factor alone makes it seem totally worth the brief phone call hassle!

I switched from checks to the debit card about 8 weeks into my claim and it was one of the best decisions I made! The process was surprisingly smooth - I called at 8:05 AM on a Thursday and waited about 18 minutes to get through. The EDD representative handled everything over the phone and even gave me a reference number for the change. The card arrived in 7 business days and I was able to activate it immediately through the Bank of America EDD website. What really sold me on the switch was being able to transfer funds instantly to my checking account instead of waiting 3-4 days for checks to arrive and then another day or two for them to clear. Plus I love getting text notifications the moment my payment hits the card. For anyone hesitating about making this change - just do it! The few minutes on the phone will save you so much time and stress in the long run.

I just went through this exact same frustration with my EDD disability card! The zero balance issue is incredibly common - it happened to me too even though I could see approved payments in my online portal. Here's what finally worked for me after days of trying: 1. Call the number on the back of your card and immediately ask to speak with the "EDD prepaid card fraud department" - don't let them transfer you to regular BofA customer service who can't help with these specific cards. 2. The zero balance is almost certainly an automatic fraud hold they put on new cards with large deposits. Once you verify your identity with the fraud department, they can release it immediately. 3. For transfers, forget the mobile app completely - it's terrible. Use the desktop version of prepaid.bankofamerica.com/eddcard (not the regular BofA website) to set up direct transfers to your bank account. 4. If direct transfer doesn't work, the PayPal workaround someone mentioned above actually works great - just make sure to use the free 3-5 day transfer option. The whole system is unnecessarily complicated, especially when you're already dealing with pain and mobility issues. But once you get through this initial setup nightmare, the transfers become automatic. Don't give up - your benefits are rightfully yours! Hope your back feels better soon.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm dealing with this same issue right now and was starting to panic that something was seriously wrong with my claim. The fact that the zero balance is just an automatic fraud hold makes so much sense - I wish they would tell you that when they mail the card! I'm going to call tomorrow and use that exact phrase "EDD prepaid card fraud department" since everyone seems to agree that's the magic words to get to someone who can actually help. Really appreciate you sharing the step-by-step process and the encouragement. It's been so stressful dealing with this on top of my medical issues, but knowing others have successfully gotten through it gives me hope!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this frustrating situation on top of your back injury! I went through something very similar when I was on disability for a knee surgery earlier this year. The EDD/BofA debit card system is truly awful and feels designed to make everything as difficult as possible. A few things that helped me get through this nightmare: 1. The zero balance issue is almost always a fraud hold - call the number on the back of your card and ask specifically for the "EDD prepaid card fraud department." Don't let them transfer you to regular BofA customer service. 2. Use the desktop version of prepaid.bankofamerica.com/eddcard (NOT the regular BofA website or mobile app) to set up direct transfers to your bank account once the hold is released. 3. If you're still having trouble, try the PayPal workaround - add your EDD card to PayPal, then transfer from PayPal to your bank using the free 3-5 day option. 4. Keep your confirmation numbers from any EDD payments you can see in your online portal - this helps when talking to customer service. The most important thing is not to panic - your money is there, it's just their overly aggressive fraud prevention system causing problems. I know it's incredibly stressful when you're already dealing with pain and can't easily drive to a branch, but you will get through this. Focus on your recovery and don't let this financial stress make your back worse. Hang in there!
