Anyone in Antelope Valley received their CalFresh benefits yet? LA County April 2025 deposit seems delayed
Getting worried over here! It's already the 12th and my CalFresh benefits still haven't hit my EBT card for April. I'm in Lancaster (Antelope Valley area) and usually get my deposit on the 10th like clockwork. Anyone else in LA County experiencing delays this month? Called the customer service number but just got the automated system saying 'high call volume' before it hung up on me. My rent took almost everything I had and was counting on those benefits for groceries this weekend... Starting to panic a little.

I'm in Palmdale and got mine yesterday (a day late). There's definitely something going on with the system this month. My caseworker mentioned they're updating some software and it's causing deposit delays across LA County. Some people might see delays of 2-3 days depending on your case number. If you haven't received it by the 15th, that's when you should really start following up with your county office.

•Thanks for the info! Really hoping it comes through before the weekend. Do you know if they're sending out notifications about the delay? I didn't get anything.

•The 16th?! That's crazy! How do you manage when it's that delayed? Do you call them or just wait it out?

•i just wait now. used to call but whats the point they never answer anyway and when they do they just say 'its being processed' whatever that means 🙄

I work at a community resource center in Lancaster, and we've had about 15 people come in this week with the same issue. From what I understand, there was a technical issue with the EBT processing system affecting several counties, not just LA. Most people should see their benefits deposited by the 14th. If you're in a bind for food while waiting, our center has emergency food boxes available. Also, there's the AV Food Bank on Avenue J that's open tomorrow from 9-12.

•That's really good to know about the food resources - might need to check that out. Thank you for the information about the technical issue too, makes me feel a bit better knowing it's not just my account having problems.

Just FYI - the issuance schedule for LA County can vary based on the last digit of your case number. Double-check your regular issuance date here: https://dpss.lacounty.gov/en/food/calfresh/issuance-schedule.html Also, have you checked to make sure you didn't miss submitting your SAR7 or recertification? Sometimes benefits get delayed if they're waiting on paperwork, even if you didn't get a notice about it.

•I'm pretty sure I'm current on all my paperwork - did my recertification back in January and don't have an SAR7 due until July. But I'll double-check my issuance date just to be sure. Just weird that it's always been the 10th for two years and suddenly changed.

•I understand your frustration, especially with children to feed. Please consider visiting our center or the AV Food Bank I mentioned above for temporary assistance. The delay is due to a system-wide technical issue and should be resolved within 2-3 days according to the information we've received.

I had the same issue last month but it was because I moved and didn't update my address quickly enough. Make sure all your contact info is current in the system. When I finally got through to someone, they told me my case had been flagged for verification because mail was returned. Have you received any mail from them recently?

•I've been at the same address for 3 years, and I got my renewal approval letter just last month, so I don't think that's it. But thanks for mentioning it - always good to make sure the basics are covered.

I had the same problem trying to get through to LA County about my delayed benefits last month. Spent hours on hold and kept getting disconnected. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that holds your place in line and calls you back when an actual person is available. Saved me a ton of time and frustration. They have a demo video here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 When I finally got through, found out they needed to verify something on my account that I never got notified about. Might be worth checking if there's an issue with your case specifically rather than just waiting for the system-wide delay to resolve.

•That service sounds really helpful actually. The endless hold music is the worst, especially when you're worried about feeding your family. I'll check it out if my benefits don't show up by tomorrow. Thanks!

•does that thing actually work? ive never heard of it before but man i hate sitting on hold for like 2 hours just to get hung up on

•Yeah it worked for me. You still have to deal with the caseworker when they call back (who might not be able to help), but at least you don't waste your whole day on hold. Definitely better than the alternative of just waiting and hoping.

Just got an update from a friend who works at DPSS - apparently the system issue affected people with case numbers ending in 3, 7, and 9 the most. They're processing those accounts manually now, so benefits should appear within 48 hours. Might be worth checking your case number to see if you fall in that group.

•My case number ends in 7! That explains it then. Thanks so much for this info - gives me some hope it'll be resolved soon. Really appreciate you sharing this update.

UPDATE: My benefits just hit my account about an hour ago! For anyone else waiting, looks like they're working through the backlog. Check your balance if you haven't already today.

•That's great news! Thanks for updating the thread - it helps others know the situation is being resolved. For anyone still waiting, the resources I mentioned earlier are still available if you need emergency food assistance.
