Missing emergency CalFresh allotment ($125) in San Bernardino County - February deposit late?
Hey CalFresh folks! I'm getting worried about my monthly emergency supplement. I'm in San Bernardino County and usually receive my emergency allotment of $125 right around the 10th each month. January's payment actually came early (around the 8th), but it's already the 12th of February and nothing's hit my EBT card yet. The county website says payments should be deposited by the 12th, which is today! Anyone else in San Bernardino having delays this month? I've tried calling the county office but just get stuck in the automated system. Really counting on this money for groceries this weekend...

Just to clarify - the emergency allotments officially ended back in March 2023. What you might be referring to is your regular monthly CalFresh benefits. San Bernardino County typically issues benefits between the 1st and 10th of each month based on the last digit of your case number. If you normally get them on a specific date and they're late, something might be wrong. Have you checked BenefitsCal to see if there's any notices or changes to your case?

•Wait, what?? The emergency allotments ended?? I've definitely been getting an extra $125 deposit separate from my regular benefits ($232) that comes on the 3rd. The worker called it my "supplement" and said it would continue. Now I'm confused...

•Good to know I'm not the only one! Let me know if yours comes through. I'm wondering if there's a system delay or something going on.

The previous commenter is correct - the federal emergency allotments for CalFresh ended in February 2023, with the last payment issued in March 2023. However, California did implement some state-funded nutrition benefits for certain households that might be what you're referring to. If you're receiving a regular supplemental payment, it could be one of these programs: 1. The California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) supplement for certain immigrant populations 2. A transitional benefit if your household recently had income changes 3. A retroactive benefit correction You should check your BenefitsCal account or your last Notice of Action letter to confirm exactly what benefit you're receiving. If it's consistently the same amount on the same day each month, it's likely a regular programmed benefit, not an emergency allotment.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I did immigrate from the Philippines 6 years ago but I have my green card now. I'll check BenefitsCal and see if it mentions CFAP. This is so confusing because my worker specifically told me I'd get this extra amount monthly when I recertified in November.

I had similar situation!!! San Bernardino always screws up the timing!!! I had to call like 50 times last month when my regular benefits were late. They said it was a "system issue" affecting "some households" 🙄 but never sent any notification or anything. So frustrating!!!! They don't care that people need to EAT!!!

•It's super frustrating! I'm on a tight budget and plan my grocery shopping around when these deposits hit. I wish they would at least send a text if they know payments will be delayed.

I had a similar issue getting through to San Bernardino County last month about a verification problem. After trying for days, I used a service called Claimyr that got me connected to a real person in about 15 minutes. They basically call for you and hold your place in line, then call you when a rep is available. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Might be worth it to find out what's going on with your supplement payment.

•does it rly work? seems sketchy to have another company calling welfare for u lol

•It worked for me! It's just a call service that waits on hold so you don't have to. When they get a person, they connect you directly to them. You still talk to the county worker yourself, they just handle the hold time.

•I have permanent residency (green card) but not citizenship yet. Maybe that's why I get the extra payment? I'm going to call tomorrow and get clarification.

Based on your follow-up comments, it sounds like you're receiving the California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) supplement. This is a state-funded program specifically for legal permanent residents who don't qualify for federal SNAP/CalFresh due to immigration status requirements. CFAP benefits are typically issued separately from regular CalFresh, which explains why you're seeing two different deposits. The timing of CFAP deposits can sometimes differ from the regular CalFresh schedule. If you've been receiving it consistently until now, I'd recommend: 1. Checking BenefitsCal for any notices 2. Contacting your eligibility worker directly if possible 3. If you can't reach them, try calling the San Bernardino EBT customer service line at 877-328-9677 They might be experiencing delays this month, but it's always good to verify nothing has changed with your eligibility.
