UPDATE: Finally got through to my county office! The worker confirmed I should be getting the Tier 1 supplement of $110/month since I'm a single-person household in San Francisco. She said there was no flag on my case for the regional supplement. She's correcting it and processing backpay for January-March (about $330). Should see it on my EBT card within 3-5 business days.\n\nThanks everyone for your help! I'll update again when I actually see the money on my card.
Quick question - did you report any changes between January and February? Sometimes if you have a pending report or verification that hasn't been processed yet, they'll hold the supplemental payment until it's cleared. Just another possibility to consider.
Just to follow up on this thread - for anyone new to CalFresh in 2025, here's a quick explanation of the different benefit components: 1. Regular CalFresh benefits: Issued once a month on a schedule based on the last digit of your case number (1st through 10th of month) 2. Nutrition Assistance Plus-Up (NAP): Additional supplement based on your household size and circumstances, issued between the 15th-24th depending on case number 3. Special Supplements: Occasional additional benefits for certain qualifying events (disaster relief, back-to-school nutrition boost in August, etc.) Keep in mind that your total benefit amount (regular + NAP) is still subject to the maximum allotment for your household size. The system just splits it into two payments now instead of one. Hope this helps clarify things!
Just to provide some additional context: CalFresh benefits in California are distributed over the first 10 days of each month based on the last digit of your case number. If your case number ends in 4, you'll get benefits on the 4th. Benefits are uploaded overnight, usually starting around midnight, but the exact timing varies by county and processing systems. One thing to note - if the 4th falls on a weekend or holiday, your benefits should still be deposited on that day (unlike some other government benefits that shift to the previous business day).
Hey, just wanted to check if your benefits came through this morning? I've been hearing about some counties having system delays this month and was curious if you got yours as expected.
Just to clarify a few things about Summer EBT since there seems to be some confusion: 1. It's a new permanent program, not the same as P-EBT 2. California has opted in, but implementation is still in progress 3. Eligible children will likely receive about $120 total for summer 2024 4. Most CalFresh households with school-age children should qualify automatically 5. The state must develop an implementation plan, so timing and details are still being finalized The best thing to do is stay informed through official channels and prepare alternative food budgeting plans just in case the benefits are delayed or eligibility requirements change.
Has anyone actually CONFIRMED with their county worker that this Summer EBT is happening FOR SURE? I don't want to get my hopes up again. Last time I called my county about a benefits question, they gave me completely WRONG information and I ended up with a gap in coverage!!
I called San Bernardino County last week about something else but asked about Summer EBT while I had them on the phone. The worker confirmed California is participating but said they're still waiting on guidance from the state about implementation. She couldn't give specifics on dates or amounts yet.

Update: My third daughter's P-EBT card just arrived today! So all three cards came within 3 days. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance. I activated each one as they arrived like someone suggested. The weird thing is my oldest daughter's card has $75 more on it than the other two even though they're all at the same school. Should I question this or just be grateful for the extra funds?

•Glad all the cards arrived safely! Regarding the different benefit amounts, if your oldest is in a different grade level, that could explain the variance. Also, if she had perfect attendance while your younger children had some absences, that could affect the benefit calculation. P-EBT benefits are based on school attendance records and meal eligibility days. Unless the difference is extremely large, I wouldn't worry about questioning it. The benefit calculations are done automatically based on data from the schools, and small to moderate variations are normal even among siblings at the same school. If you want to understand exactly how it was calculated, you can check the P-EBT information letter that came with each card, as it sometimes explains the benefit period and calculation method.

Wait are they still giving out P-EBT in 2025?? I thought that was just a COVID thing that ended years ago. My kids haven't gotten any cards lately!

•The original P-EBT was for COVID, but they've continued it under a modified program. Not all schools participate now though. Your kids' school might not be part of the program anymore, or maybe they don't qualify for free/reduced lunch? Might be worth asking at the school office.

•Yes, they're still issuing them in 2025! My kids' school is part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program where all students get free meals regardless of income. Maybe check if your school participates in that program? The cards really help with our grocery budget.
