CalFresh extra benefits in Palmdale - January 2025 payment schedule question

Does anyone know if Palmdale area is getting the extra CalFresh benefits tonight? My regular benefits hit my EBT card yesterday (Jan 12th) but I thought we were supposed to get that supplemental emergency allotment today (Jan 13th). The county office recording just said something about 'distribution schedules may vary' but didn't give any specifics for LA County areas. Last month mine came on the 13th but I've heard some people say Palmdale might be delayed this month? Anyone else in Antelope Valley area know what's going on with the extra benefits?

The emergency allotments actually ended in spring 2023... if you're talking about the regular CalFresh benefits, those get distributed over the first 10 days of the month based on the last digit of your case number. If your case number ends in 3, you get it on the 3rd, etc. Not sure what 'extras' you're referring to?

No I'm talking about the new Winter Relief Supplement they announced for January-March 2025. It's supposed to be 40% of your regular benefit amount as a one-time payment each month. The caseworker specifically said Palmdale residents would get it the day after regular benefits.

I'm in Lancaster (close to Palmdale) and haven't gotten anything extra either. My regular benefits came on the 11th. Called the EBT hotline and waited 45 mins just to be told they don't have info on 'special distributions' and to contact the county office. So frustrating!!!

The Winter Relief Supplement is being distributed based on case number AND zip code. For Palmdale specifically (93550, 93551, 93552, 93590, 93591, 93599), the distribution schedule is 3 days after your regular benefits, not 1 day. This is different from Lancaster which is 2 days after. The reason is they're staggering the supplemental payments to prevent system overloads. You can check your specific distribution date by logging into BenefitsCal and looking under "Notices" - there should be a Winter Relief payment schedule letter dated early January.

Thank you so much! I just checked BenefitsCal and you're right - there's a notice from January 2nd that explains the 3-day delay for Palmdale. So I should expect it on the 15th since my regular benefits were on the 12th. Really appreciate the clear information!

Hey there, I had the same problem with getting through to the county CalFresh office. I ended up using this service called Claimyr that got me through to a real person in about 15 minutes. They'll wait on hold for you and call you back when a worker answers. Saved me hours of frustration. The website is claimyr.com and there's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Especially helpful for these urgent benefit questions when you can't wait days for an answer.

This is actually kinda confusing because there's also the regular supplemental nutrition benefit that some households qualify for that's different from the Winter Relief thing. My household gets our regular CalFresh on the 8th (based on case number) and then some of us qualify for a nutritional supplement (for elderly/disabled) that comes on the 18th every month. Maybe you're mixing these up?

You're referring to the Supplemental Nutrition Benefit (SNB) for seniors/disabled, which is different from the Winter Relief Supplement (WRS) that's being discussed here. The WRS is temporary for Jan-Mar 2025 due to the increased winter utility costs. Both can appear on your EBT account if you qualify for both programs.

Thanks for the update! Just checked and mine isn't there yet, but good to know they're starting to come through. My zip is 93551 so maybe they're doing it by zip code order too?

Just to clarify for everyone: The Winter Relief Supplement is being distributed to ALL CalFresh households in Los Angeles County in batches from January 13-18, 2025. Each zip code range has specific days. Here's the exact schedule for Palmdale areas: 93550: January 14-15 93551: January 15-16 93552: January 15-16 93590/93591/93599: January 16-17 The amount is 40% of your regular benefit, and it will have a separate transaction description on your EBT account history labeled "WINTER RELIEF SUPP". This is separate from regular CalFresh benefits AND separate from the SNB (Supplemental Nutrition Benefit) that some households receive.

Super helpful, thank you! Where did you find this information? I wish they would just send us all a text with this info instead of making us hunt for it.

Also, don't forget to submit your SAR7 if it's due this month! They will absolutely cut off your benefits including any supplemental payments if your semi-annual report is late. I learned that the hard way last year when I missed mine by 3 days and had to reapply completely.
