CalFresh extra allotment missing in LA County for April 2025 - anyone else waiting?

Has anyone else in LA County not received their extra CalFresh allotment for this month? My regular benefits loaded on the 8th like normal, but I was expecting the additional emergency allotment that was announced for April. DPSS website says it was supposed to be issued between April 10-17 due to the recent wildfires, but my EBT balance is still showing just my regular amount. Called the EBT customer service number but got stuck in the automated system. Anyone else still waiting or know when LA County is actually distributing the extra benefits?

same here! nothing extra yet and its already the 18th. my cousin in san bernardino got hers on the 12th

Ugh, so frustrating! Did your cousin have to do anything special to get it? I'm wondering if they're rolling it out by case number or something.

The wildfire emergency allotments for LA County are being issued in batches through April 24th, not the 17th as initially announced. I just confirmed this with my eligibility worker yesterday. If you don't receive it by the 25th, then you should contact your county office. Remember that not everyone qualifies - your household needs to be in one of the designated affected zip codes (there are 27 of them) or have documented hardship related to the fires.

Thank you so much for this info! I'm in 90042 which I think is one of the affected areas. Do you know if they're notifying people who qualify, or does it just show up on your EBT card?

It should just appear on your EBT card without prior notification. And yes, 90042 is one of the affected zip codes. If you don't see it by the 25th, you'll need to contact your worker directly.

i got mine yesterday! check again maybe? it doesn't show up as a separate deposit on the EBT app, it just adds to your total balance. i almost didn't notice cuz i wasn't expecting the extra $250

Just checked again and still nothing extra. $250 would be amazing right now. I'm going to wait until the 24th like the other person suggested and then try to call if it's not there.

These emergency allotments can be confusing because they're different from the pandemic-era extra benefits that ended in 2023. This current one is specifically for the wildfire emergency in certain LA County zip codes. If you're in an affected area and don't receive your extra amount by the 24th, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get through to an actual person at DPSS. It helped me resolve a similar issue with missing disaster benefits last year. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 showing how it works. It basically gets you past the phone tree and connects you directly to a worker instead of waiting on hold for hours.

did u actually use this? i'm always paranoid abt giving my info to random websites

Yes, I used it for a CalFresh issue in January and again in March for a CalWORKs question. It's just a callback service that navigates the phone system for you. They don't need any of your case details or personal info beyond your phone number to call you back.

THE COUNTY IS ALWAYS LATE WITH EVERYTHING!!! First they say benefits come on a certain date, then they change it, then they don't even tell people who's eligible!! I've been calling everyday for TWO WEEKS and can't get a straight answer about whether my zip code (90033) is included. One worker said yes, another said no. TYPICAL DPSS NONSENSE!!! And those supposed "emergency benefits" are a joke anyway - how is $250 supposed to replace all the food we lost when the power was out for 3 days????

I feel your frustration! It's so hard to get consistent answers. I'm pretty sure 90033 is on the list though, based on what I read on the DPSS emergency page.

I'm so confused about all of this. I thought the extra CalFresh benefits ended after COVID? Is this something different? My family of 4 gets regular CalFresh but I haven't heard anything about extra money. Should I be looking for something extra on my card too? We're in Inglewood area...

This is different from the pandemic emergency allotments that ended in 2023. This is specifically related to the recent wildfires in certain parts of LA County. If you're in Inglewood (90301-90312), you're not in the affected area for this particular disaster relief, so you wouldn't receive this additional benefit. The regular wildfire-related zip codes are primarily in the northeastern parts of LA County.
