UCC Filing System Down Again - SOS Portal Issues

Is anyone else having trouble with the UCC filing portal today? I've been trying to submit a continuation for the past 3 hours and keep getting error messages. The system keeps timing out during the payment process. This is the third time this month I've had issues with online filings. My continuation deadline is next week and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone found a workaround or alternative method when the portal is acting up? I called the help desk but they just said 'try again later' which isn't very helpful when you're dealing with a lapse situation.

Same problem here! Been trying since 8am to file a UCC-3 amendment and the portal keeps crashing. This is ridiculous - how are we supposed to meet filing deadlines when their system is constantly down? I've had to explain to clients multiple times why their filings are delayed due to technical issues.

The portal issues have been getting worse lately. I always keep screenshots of error messages now as proof of attempted filing in case there are any deadline disputes later.

Smart thinking on the screenshots. I've started doing the same thing after getting burned on a late filing fee when the system was down for maintenance.

I managed to get through around 11am by refreshing the page multiple times. The trick seems to be submitting during off-peak hours. Also make sure you're not using any browser extensions that might interfere with the payment gateway.

What browser are you using? I've heard Chrome works better than Firefox for their portal but haven't tested it myself.

I use Chrome exclusively for UCC filings now. Had too many issues with Safari and the PDF viewer integration.

Firefox actually works fine for me, but I always clear my cache before filing sessions. The portal seems sensitive to stored cookies.

If you're dealing with continuation deadlines, there might be a grace period for technical issues. I'd document everything and contact them directly. Sometimes they'll waive late fees if you can prove the system was down when you tried to file.

Good point about documentation. I keep a filing log with timestamps and error messages for exactly these situations.

The grace period thing is hit or miss. Depends on who you talk to and how well you document the technical problems.

I've started using Certana.ai to pre-check all my UCC documents before submitting them through the portal. It catches errors that would cause rejections, which saves time when the system is already having issues. You just upload your PDFs and it verifies everything matches up correctly - debtor names, filing numbers, all that stuff. Really helps avoid the frustration of getting through the portal only to have your filing rejected for a simple mistake.

That sounds useful. Does it work with continuation forms too? I'm always worried about missing something in the cross-reference to the original UCC-1.

Yes, it handles continuations and amendments. The document consistency check is really thorough - it'll catch things like debtor name variations that might cause problems.

Try the mobile version of the portal if the desktop site isn't working. Sometimes one works when the other doesn't. The mobile interface is clunky but it gets the job done in a pinch.

I didn't even know there was a mobile version! Is it a separate URL or just the responsive design?

It's just the responsive version, but it seems to have fewer JavaScript conflicts than the full desktop site.

The mobile version is actually pretty decent for simple filings. Just make sure you have good cell service if you're doing this on the go.

UGHHH this is so frustrating!! I have 5 continuations due this week and now I'm going to have to work all weekend because of their crappy system. Why can't they just have reliable infrastructure like every other state???

I feel your pain. The timing is never good when these outages happen. At least you're not alone in dealing with this mess.

Five continuations? Yikes. Maybe try batching them during different time periods to spread out the risk of system failures.

For what it's worth, I got through about an hour ago. The system seems to be stabilizing. I'd suggest trying again now while traffic might be lighter.

Just tried and it worked! Thanks for the heads up. Finally got my continuation submitted.

Glad to hear it's working again. I'll try to get my amendment through while the system is stable.

This is exactly why I always file at least a week before the deadline. Systems go down, documents get rejected for random reasons, and you need that buffer time to deal with problems. Learned this the hard way after a lapse situation a few years ago.

Good advice. I try to do the same but sometimes client deadlines don't give you that luxury.

The early filing approach has saved me so many headaches. I actually set calendar reminders for 2 weeks before continuation deadlines now.

I wish I had that kind of lead time. Half my clients don't even send me the paperwork until the last minute.

Has anyone tried calling the office directly to see if they can process filings over the phone when the portal is down? I know some states have backup procedures for technical emergencies.

I called earlier and they said online only during regular business hours. They might have emergency procedures but the front desk person didn't know about them.

Phone filing usually isn't available for UCC documents. Too much risk of data entry errors with all the specific legal descriptions and debtor information.

Update: I just successfully submitted my continuation! The system is definitely working better now. For anyone still having issues, try clearing your browser cache completely and starting fresh. That seemed to help with the payment processing errors.

Great news! I'm going to try mine now. Fingers crossed the system stays stable.

Cache clearing is always good advice for portal issues. I do that automatically now before any filing session.

Just submitted mine too! Thanks everyone for the tips and moral support. This forum is a lifesaver during these technical disasters.
