Where is my unemployment money - Washington ESD payment missing
Filed my weekly claim on Sunday like always but it's Thursday and still no payment in my account. Washington ESD shows my claim was processed but where is my unemployment money? This has never happened before and I'm getting really worried. My rent is due tomorrow and I was counting on this payment. Has anyone else had their UI payments just disappear like this?

Check your payment method in your Washington ESD account. Sometimes they switch you from direct deposit to the debit card without warning, especially if there was any issue with your bank info.

•Just checked and it still shows direct deposit to my checking account. The routing number looks right too.

•Might be a bank processing delay then. Some banks hold unemployment payments for 24-48 hours even with direct deposit.

this happened to me last month!!! turned out there was some stupid adjudication thing they never told me about. took 3 weeks to get sorted out

•How did you find out about the adjudication? My account doesn't show any issues or pending items.

•had to call like 50 times before someone told me. the online account doesn't always show everything thats going on

You need to call Washington ESD directly to find out what's happening with your payment. There could be a hold on your account that's not showing up online. I know it's frustrating trying to get through, but that's your best bet for getting real answers about where your money is.

•I actually found this service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an agent last week. They handle the calling for you - check out claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ. Saved me hours of busy signals.

Same thing happened to my cousin in Oregon... wait, this is Washington ESD right? Different system but similar problems I guess.

•Yeah this is Washington state. Did your cousin ever figure out what was wrong?

•ended up being some computer glitch on their end. took like a week to fix but she got all the back payments

Check if you have any outstanding issues in your account. Look for anything marked as 'fact finding' or 'verification needed.' Sometimes Washington ESD puts a hold on payments even for minor documentation requests. Also verify your job search activities were logged correctly for the week in question.

•I did my three job contacts like always and logged them in WorkSourceWA. Everything looks normal to me.

•Then it's likely a processing delay or system issue. Definitely call to get specifics about your payment status.

•WorkSourceWA has been having issues lately too. Maybe that's connected?

ugh the washington esd system is such garbage. my payments are always late or missing for no reason. they act like we're asking for charity when its OUR money

One more thing to check - make sure your bank didn't change their routing number recently. Some credit unions have updated their systems and that can cause direct deposits to bounce back to Washington ESD.

•That's a good point. I'll call my bank too to make sure nothing changed on their end.

•Yeah, if the payment bounced back to ESD, they should reissue it but it takes extra time to process.

This is exactly why I switched to the debit card option. At least then you know exactly when the money hits and you don't have to worry about bank processing delays.

•How long does it usually take for payments to show up on the debit card?

Yuki Kobayashi
•Usually by Tuesday night if I file my weekly claim on Sunday. Pretty consistent.

•i hate that stupid debit card though. too many fees

Just wanted to follow up on the Claimyr suggestion - I used them again yesterday when I had a question about my standby status. Got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of the usual hours of busy signals. Really worth it when you need answers fast.

•How much does something like that cost? At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything.

•It's pretty reasonable considering how much time and frustration it saves. Check their website for current info - claimyr.com

hope you get this sorted out soon. being broke and waiting for unemployment payments is the worst stress

•Thanks, really hoping it's just a delay and not something more serious wrong with my claim.

For future reference, Washington ESD payments typically process Monday night through Tuesday morning for claims filed by Sunday. If you don't see payment by Wednesday, there's usually an issue that needs to be resolved. Keep documenting when you file and when payments arrive so you can spot patterns.

•That's really helpful timing info. I'll start keeping better track of the payment schedule.

•Good advice. I keep a simple spreadsheet with filing dates and payment dates. Helps when you need to reference things later.

one time my payment was held up because they said i didn't do enough job search activities even though i logged everything correctly. turned out to be some glitch in their system but took forever to fix

NebulaNinja
•That's scary. How did you prove that you had done the job searches correctly?

•had to print out screenshots from WorkSourceWA and email them like 3 times before someone actually looked at it

Another thought - check if there were any holidays that might have delayed processing. Sometimes bank holidays affect when payments get released even if Washington ESD processes them on time.

•Martin Luther King Day was Monday but I thought that wouldn't affect this week's payment since I filed after that.

•It might still cause delays in the banking system. Give it through Friday before you panic too much.

really hoping this gets resolved for you quickly. missing unemployment payments when you're already struggling financially is just awful

•Thanks for the support. It's stressful but hopefully just a temporary glitch.

If you do end up needing to appeal anything related to this payment issue, make sure you do it within 30 days of any notice you receive from Washington ESD. Missing that deadline can complicate things significantly.
0 coins
NebulaNinja
•Good to know. I haven't gotten any notices yet but I'll watch for that 30-day window if something comes up.

Mateo Sanchez
•And if you need help understanding any notices or appeal paperwork, that's another situation where getting through to an agent quickly really helps. The Claimyr service I mentioned earlier is great for those urgent situations.

One last suggestion - check your spam folder for any emails from Washington ESD. Sometimes important notifications about payment holds end up there and you miss them.

NebulaNinja
•Just checked spam and didn't find anything from ESD. But that's a good reminder to check there regularly.

•Yeah, I add their email addresses to my contacts so important stuff doesn't get filtered out.

keep us posted OP. really want to know if this was just a delay or if they found some bs reason to hold your payment

Just remember, most payment delays do get resolved within a few days once you get the right person on the phone. Don't lose hope - your money is probably just stuck in some bureaucratic queue somewhere.

NebulaNinja
•That's reassuring. I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning and see if I can get through to someone who can explain what's happening.

•Good plan. And again, if the regular phone lines aren't working out, that Claimyr service at claimyr.com has been a lifesaver for me when I needed to reach someone quickly about payment issues.
