Just remember the $999 maximum is gross, not net. After federal taxes (if you elect them) you're looking at more like $850 take home.
The benefit calculation seems complicated but Washington ESD generally does a good job of maximizing what you're eligible for based on your work history.
Just wanted to say good luck with your claim! I was in a similar situation last year and it worked out fine. The stress of not knowing is awful but try to stay positive. Washington ESD is pretty fair about these things when it's clearly not misconduct.
One more thing - when you do your weekly claims, make sure you're honest about looking for work and meeting the job search requirements. That's separate from your eligibility issue but you need to keep up with it once you're approved.
This thread has been super helpful! I'm in a similar situation with contract work and was afraid to file for unemployment. Now I feel confident about doing it the right way.
One last tip - if you're unsure about anything, it's better to ask Washington ESD directly rather than guess. Getting wrong information from online forums (even well-meaning advice) can sometimes lead to problems with your claim.

Make sure you have your bank account info ready for direct deposit. Much faster than waiting for checks in the mail.

•Yeah direct deposit usually comes 1-2 days after you file your weekly claim. Checks take way longer.

One last thing - if you get denied for any reason, don't panic. You can appeal the decision. The appeals process gives you a chance to explain your situation to a judge.

•Hopefully I won't need to worry about that but good to know. Thanks everyone for all the help!
