Thanks for posting this question! I'm in the same boat and this thread answered all my questions about where to apply online. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences.
One thing I wish someone had told me - make sure you apply for the right type of benefits. There's regular unemployment and then there's stuff like standby pay for certain situations. I applied for the wrong one initially and had to start over.
If you do need to call Washington ESD about PFML and can't get through the normal way, seriously consider using Claimyr. It saved me so much frustration and I got accurate information right away instead of guessing or relying on random internet advice.
This thread has been so helpful! I wish there was better information out there about the difference between all these programs. PFML vs unemployment vs disability - it's all so confusing until someone explains it clearly.
One more thing - if you do win your appeal, Washington ESD will backdate your benefits to your original claim date. So even though this process sucks, you won't lose those weeks of benefits if you're ultimately found eligible.
I used Claimyr too when I was dealing with a disqualification issue. Being able to actually talk to a Washington ESD representative made all the difference in understanding what went wrong with my claim and what I needed to do to fix it.
The weekly payment schedule is definitely better than monthly like some other benefits. Makes it easier to budget and manage bills when money comes in regularly.
For the original poster - sounds like you should see your first payment this week if you filed last Tuesday. After that it should be weekly as long as you keep filing your claims on time. The Washington ESD system is pretty reliable once you get into the routine.

Just remember that once your first payment comes through, the subsequent ones should be much more predictable. Usually every week like clockwork if you keep filing your claims on time.

•That's what I'm hoping for. I just need to get through this initial waiting period and then hopefully it becomes routine.

•Exactly. The first payment is always the hardest because you don't know what to expect. After that it's pretty straightforward.

Sending good vibes! Hope you see that payment soon. The waiting game is brutal but you're doing everything right by staying on top of your weekly claims.

•Thank you! This whole thread has been so helpful. At least now I know what to expect and that other people have been through the same thing.

•That's what these forums are for! We're all just trying to navigate the system together.
