Quick reminder that if you end up getting a second part-time job while collecting partial benefits, you still need to report ALL earnings on your weekly claims. Some people think they only report earnings from their main job.
One last thing - make sure you understand the difference between being laid off completely versus having hours reduced. The requirements and processes can be slightly different even though both qualify for benefits.
Hope this works out for you. The most important thing is having a solid paper trail showing you tried everything else before quitting. Washington ESD really wants to see that you made good faith efforts to keep working.
Quick question - do I need to keep filing weekly claims while my initial claim is still processing? I don't want to mess anything up.
My advice is to call them if you've been waiting more than 3 weeks. I know it's hard to get through but sometimes there are issues that need to be resolved and they won't tell you unless you ask.
That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist - to solve the phone problem. Worth checking out if you're tired of wasting hours trying to get through.
Interesting! My boss hasn't said anything about when hours might return to normal. I should probably ask about that before I file my claim.

This thread has been super helpful. I'm in a similar situation and was too scared to even try filing. Now I think I might have a chance.

•Don't let fear stop you from trying! The worst they can say is no, and you might be surprised by the outcome.

•Agree with that. Even if you're not sure, it's worth filing and seeing what happens. You can always appeal if needed.

Hope this works out for you OP. Toxic work environments are no joke and it takes courage to walk away. You deserve to be treated with respect at work.
