Why didn't I get my unemployment payment this week - Washington ESD claim issues
Filed my weekly claim Sunday like always but my payment didn't show up today. Usually get it by Tuesday morning. Checked my account and it shows 'payment processed' but nothing in my bank account. This is week 8 of my claim and never had this happen before. Anyone else having payment delays with Washington ESD this week? Getting really worried since I have rent due Friday.

Same thing happened to me last week! Took 3 extra days to show up in my account. Bank said it was on Washington ESD's end not theirs.

•Did you have to do anything or just wait it out? This is stressing me out so much.

Freya Larsen
•Just had to wait unfortunately. But it did come through eventually with no issues.

Check if there's a hold on your claim. Sometimes Washington ESD puts a temporary hold for verification purposes even if everything looks normal on your end. You might need to call them to get specifics about the delay.

•How can I tell if there's a hold? My claim status just says 'processed' like usual.

•Log into your SecureAccess account and check the 'Claim Summary' section. If there's a hold it should show there, but sometimes they don't update it immediately.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD call issues for months. If you need to reach them about payment delays, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to agents. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Saved me hours of busy signals when I had a similar payment issue.

•Is this legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed.

•Yeah it's real. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. They handle the calling process so you don't have to sit on hold for hours.

•How much does something like that cost though? If I'm not getting paid I can't afford extra services.

Washington ESD has been having system issues lately. I work at a workforce center and we've been getting lots of complaints about payment delays this week. Usually resolves within 48-72 hours.

•That's somewhat reassuring. Do you know if it's affecting everyone or just certain claim types?

•Seems random from what I'm seeing. Regular UI claims mostly but a few standby claims too.

UGH this happened to me two months ago and it was because I missed answering one of the work search questions correctly. Even though it said processed, there was actually an issue that wasn't showing up right away.

Ravi Kapoor
•Oh no, how did you find out what the issue was?

•Had to call them. Took me literally 4 hours of calling to get through but that's how I found out.

Check your email too. Sometimes Washington ESD sends notices about payment holds or issues but they go to spam folders.

Ravi Kapoor
•Good idea, let me check that now.

•Also check your physical mail if you have paper notices turned on. They sometimes send important stuff by mail.

If calling doesn't work, you can try the online messaging system in your account. Response time is usually 3-5 business days but at least you'll get an official answer about the delay.

•I need this resolved faster than 5 days though. My rent is due Friday and this is my only income.

•I understand the urgency. That's why calling is usually better for time-sensitive issues like payment delays.

This is exactly why I hate relying on Washington ESD. The system is so unreliable and when something goes wrong you can't reach anyone to fix it.

•I feel you. Been dealing with this for 6 months and it's just one problem after another.

•I never had issues before this week so I'm hoping it's just a temporary glitch.

Update on the Claimyr thing I mentioned earlier - I just helped my neighbor use it yesterday for a payment issue and she got through to an agent in about 20 minutes. Much better than the 3+ hours I spent trying to call directly.

•That's really tempting. I'm going to try calling myself one more time but if that doesn't work I might look into it.

•Can vouch for this too. Used it last month when my claim got stuck in adjudication. Actually got answers instead of busy signals.

Double check that your bank account info is still correct in your Washington ESD profile. Sometimes if there are any changes on the bank's end it can cause payment delays.

Ravi Kapoor
•Bank info looks right and like I said, I've been getting payments fine until this week.

•Worth checking anyway. Sometimes banks update their routing systems and it affects direct deposits.

Also make sure you didn't accidentally answer any of the weekly claim questions differently than usual. Even small changes can trigger manual review.

•I'm pretty sure I answered everything the same as always but let me double check my submission.

•The work search requirement questions are the most common ones that cause issues if answered inconsistently.

Washington ESD payment delays are THE WORST. I've been there and it's so stressful when you're counting on that money. Hang in there, it usually works out but the waiting is terrible.

•Thanks for the support. This is definitely the most stressed I've been about money in a while.

If you do get through to Washington ESD, ask them specifically about the payment date and if there are any flags on your account. Sometimes there are internal notes that explain delays that aren't visible to claimants.
0 coins
Ravi Kapoor
•Good advice. I'll make sure to ask about internal flags if I can get someone on the phone.

•Also ask for a case number or reference number for your inquiry so you can follow up if needed.

Is there any way to expedite payments in emergency situations? Like if you're about to be evicted or something?
0 coins
Diego Flores
•There used to be expedited processing options but I think those ended after the pandemic programs wound down. Your best bet is just getting the issue resolved quickly.
0 coins
Ravi Kapoor
•Yeah I don't think they have emergency processing anymore. Just have to hope this gets sorted out soon.

Final update on getting through to Washington ESD - if anyone is still having trouble reaching them, that Claimyr service is definitely worth checking out. The peace of mind of actually talking to someone about payment issues is huge.

•I'm going to try it if my payment doesn't show up by tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the info about it.

Hope you get this sorted out OP. Payment delays are scary but they do usually get resolved. Keep us posted on what happens.

•Will do. Really appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. Makes me feel less alone in dealing with this.

Been following this thread because I'm paranoid the same thing will happen to me. Let us know what caused the delay when you find out!

•Definitely will update once I get answers. Hopefully it helps other people who run into the same issue.

One more thing - if this turns out to be a bank issue rather than Washington ESD, make sure to contact your bank's direct deposit department, not just regular customer service. They have more detailed information about ACH transactions.

Ravi Kapoor
•That's a good point. I'll call them too just to cover all bases.

•My bank once had a 3-day processing delay on all government payments due to a system update. Didn't affect other deposits though.

This whole thread is making me anxious about my own payment that's supposed to come tomorrow. Washington ESD really needs to get their act together with communication.

Ravi Kapoor
•I'm sure yours will be fine. This seems like it might be an isolated issue or just bad timing on my part.

•Most payments go through without problems. The delayed ones just get more attention because they're stressful.

Following up to see if OP ever got their payment sorted out? I'm having a similar issue this week.

•Still waiting unfortunately. Going to try calling Washington ESD again first thing tomorrow morning.

•Ugh that sucks. I might look into that calling service people mentioned if the regular number doesn't work.
