Where is my unemployment check - Washington ESD payment missing for 2 weeks
I certified my weekly claim on Sunday like I always do but my unemployment payment still hasn't shown up. It's been 2 weeks now and I'm getting really worried. My claim status on the Washington ESD website just says 'paid' but there's no money in my account. I've been getting payments regularly for the past 6 weeks so I don't understand what happened. Has anyone else had their unemployment check just disappear like this? I tried calling Washington ESD but can't get through to anyone.

Check if your payment method changed somehow. Sometimes the Washington ESD system glitches and reverts back to paper checks instead of direct deposit. Log into your account and verify your banking information is still correct.

•Just checked and my direct deposit info looks the same. Still shows my checking account number ending in 4782.

•even if the info looks right, sometimes the bank routing gets messed up on their end

This happened to me last month. Washington ESD had some kind of processing delay that affected payments for about a week. Mine eventually showed up but it took calling them multiple times to get answers. The automated system won't tell you anything useful about payment delays.

•How did you finally get through to talk to someone? I've been trying for days and either get disconnected or the wait time is over 2 hours.

•I actually used this service called Claimyr that helped me get through to Washington ESD agents faster. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. It was way easier than sitting on hold for hours.

•Never heard of that before but I'm willing to try anything at this point. How much does it cost?

Did you do anything different when you certified this time? Sometimes if you answer the weekly questions wrong it can trigger a review that holds up your payment. Check if there are any messages or alerts in your Washington ESD account.

•I answered everything the same as always. No work, still looking for jobs, available to work. There's no messages or anything showing up in my account either.

•The system is SO glitchy lately. I've had payments delayed for no reason multiple times.

Are you sure your claim didn't expire? Regular unemployment benefits only last 26 weeks in Washington state. If you've been collecting for a while you might have hit the limit.

•No I'm only at 8 weeks so far. My benefit year doesn't end until next January.

•good point though, always worth checking the benefit year end date

this exact thing happened to my sister. her payment got stuck somewhere in washington esd's system for like 10 days. she finally got someone on the phone who said there was a 'processing error' and they had to manually release the payment. super frustrating

•Ugh that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Did she get backpay for the delayed week?

•yeah she got everything she was owed but it took another few days after they 'fixed' it

I'd also suggest checking with your bank to make sure they didn't flag the deposit as suspicious or anything. Sometimes unemployment payments get held up on the bank side too, especially if the amount changed or timing was different.

•That's a good idea. I'll call my bank tomorrow morning to see if there are any holds on my account.

•My credit union did this to me once. They thought the Washington ESD payment was fraud because it came on a different day than usual.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!! I've been waiting 3 weeks for my payment and Washington ESD just keeps giving me the runaround. They have no idea where our money is and don't seem to care either!

•I feel your frustration but getting mad at the system doesn't help solve the problem. OP needs practical solutions right now.

•Easy for you to say when you're not the one missing rent money because THEY can't do their job properly

Update on the Claimyr thing I mentioned earlier - I just used them again last week to check on a different issue and got through to a Washington ESD rep in about 20 minutes. Way better than the 3+ hour wait times I was dealing with before. Might be worth trying if you need to talk to someone urgently about your missing payment.

•Is it legit though? Sounds too good to be true honestly.

•Yeah it's real, they just automate the calling process so you don't have to sit there hitting redial constantly. The video demo I linked shows exactly how it works.

Check your payment history tab in the Washington ESD portal. Sometimes it will show more details about why a payment might be delayed or under review. Look for any status codes or notes next to the payment date.

•The payment history just shows 'Paid $462' for last week but with today's date instead of the usual Tuesday date. Maybe that means something?

Tasia Synder
•That could indicate it's processing late. If the date changed from Tuesday to today, the payment might actually be coming through now. Check your bank account again tomorrow.

I work at a bank and see this all the time. Washington ESD payments sometimes get delayed in the ACH processing system, especially around holidays or if there are system maintenance issues. The money is usually just sitting in transit and will appear within 1-2 business days of the 'paid' status.

•That's reassuring to hear from someone who actually knows how the banking side works. I was starting to panic that my payment was lost forever.

•This makes sense. I've noticed my unemployment payments sometimes come on Wednesday instead of Tuesday for no obvious reason.

Just wanted to add that if you do need to call Washington ESD about this, have your Social Security number and the last 4 digits of your claim number ready. They'll ask for that info right away and it speeds up the process.

•Good tip! I always forget to have that stuff ready and then have to scramble to find it while they're waiting.

•Also have your claim effective date handy - they sometimes ask for that too

same thing happened to me 2 months ago. payment showed as paid but didn't hit my account for 5 days. washington esd said it was a 'technical issue' but never really explained what that meant. just had to wait it out

•Five days?! I hope mine doesn't take that long. I have bills due this week.

•Mine was delayed 6 days once. It's super stressful when you're counting on that money.

If your payment doesn't show up by tomorrow, I'd definitely use something like that Claimyr service to get through to Washington ESD quickly. When payments are missing you need to get someone on the phone ASAP to figure out what's wrong. The longer you wait, the more complicated it can get if there's actually a problem with your claim.

•You're right, I shouldn't just wait and hope it shows up. I'll try calling again tomorrow and if I can't get through I'll check out that Claimyr thing.

•Smart plan. Missing payments can sometimes be a sign of bigger issues with your claim that need immediate attention.

This is why I always screenshot my certification confirmation and payment status. If there's ever a dispute about whether I certified or got paid, I have proof. Might be worth doing going forward.

•That's actually really smart. I never thought to document everything like that.

•I keep a whole folder of unemployment screenshots just in case. Better safe than sorry with Washington ESD.

Update us when your payment comes through! I'm curious if it's just a processing delay or if there was an actual issue that needed to be resolved.

•Will do! Thanks everyone for all the advice and reassurance. This forum is way more helpful than the Washington ESD website.
