When will I get my Washington ESD unemployment debit card?
I filed my initial claim with Washington ESD about 2 weeks ago and got approved but I still haven't received my unemployment debit card in the mail. My claim status shows 'paid' for last week but I can't access the money without the card. Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get the debit card after your first payment is processed? I'm getting really anxious about this since I need to pay rent soon.

Usually takes 7-10 business days after your first payment is issued. Sometimes longer if there's mail delays.

•Thanks, that helps. I'm at day 8 so hopefully it shows up soon.

•Mine took almost 2 weeks last year. Don't panic yet.

Check your address in eServices to make sure it's correct. If Washington ESD sent it to the wrong address you'll have to request a replacement.

•Good point, I just double checked and my address is right. Guess I just need to wait longer.

•You can also call Washington ESD to verify they sent it out, but good luck getting through on the phone.

I had the same issue and kept getting busy signals when calling Washington ESD. Found this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to an actual agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Used it to confirm my card was sent and get tracking info.

•Interesting, I've never heard of that. Did it actually work for you?

Tate Jensen
•Yeah, got through to a Washington ESD agent in like 15 minutes instead of trying for hours. They told me my card was sent 3 days prior and gave me the tracking number.

•That sounds too good to be true. How much does it cost?

The debit card comes from Bank of America, not directly from Washington ESD. You should be able to track it through their system once it's mailed.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•I didn't know that! Do you have a link to the Bank of America tracking?
0 coins
Gabriel Ruiz
•You'll need the card number to track it, which you won't have until you get it. Catch-22 situation.

this is so frustrating!! I'm on week 3 waiting for my card and Washington ESD keeps giving me the runaround. How are we supposed to pay bills???

•Did you file a request for a replacement card? Sometimes the first one gets lost in the mail.

Avery Davis
•How do I do that? I can't find that option anywhere in eServices.

Collins Angel
•You have to call them directly. There's no online option for card replacement unfortunately.

I've been calling Washington ESD for 3 days straight and can't get through. The phone system is absolutely terrible. Either busy signal or it hangs up on you after being on hold for an hour.

•That's exactly why I used Claimyr. Saved me so much time and frustration.

•What's Claimyr? Is it legit or some kind of scam?
0 coins
Tate Jensen
•It's a legitimate service that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. They don't ask for personal info, just help you navigate the phone system.

My card took exactly 10 business days after my first payment was processed. Came in a plain white envelope, almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•Good to know about the envelope! I'll make sure to check all my mail carefully.

•Same here, very plain looking envelope. No Washington ESD logo or anything.

Can you get direct deposit instead of the debit card? That seems like it would be faster.
0 coins
Collins Angel
•Washington ESD doesn't offer direct deposit for regular unemployment benefits. Only the debit card option.

Misterclamation Skyblue
•That's ridiculous. It's 2025, why can't they do direct deposit?

•Something about their contract with Bank of America. Been this way for years.

If you're really desperate for the money, you can try going to a Bank of America branch with your ID and see if they can help. Sometimes they can look up your account even without the physical card.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•Really? I didn't know that was possible. What would I tell them?
0 coins
Peyton Clarke
•Tell them you're waiting for your Washington ESD unemployment debit card and need to access your funds. They might be able to help or at least tell you if the card was issued.

I'm in the same boat, approved 2 weeks ago and still waiting. This is my second time on unemployment and I don't remember it taking this long before.

•Mail delivery has been slower lately. USPS is having issues in some areas.

•That makes sense. I've noticed my regular mail taking longer too.

whatever you do, don't lose that card once you get it! I lost mine and it took another 2 weeks to get a replacement. Washington ESD charges a fee for replacement cards too.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•How much is the replacement fee?

Sophia Gabriel
•I think it was like $5 or something. Not much but still annoying when you're already broke.

Try calling early in the morning right when they open. I got through at 8:02 AM and only waited 10 minutes.

•What number did you call? The main Washington ESD number is always busy.

•Same number everyone uses. Just got lucky with the timing I guess.

I used that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked! Got through to an agent who confirmed my card was mailed yesterday. Definitely worth trying if you're stuck.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•That's the second person who said Claimyr worked. I might have to try it.

•How does it work exactly? Do you have to give them your personal information?
0 coins
Ezra Beard
•No personal info needed. They just help you navigate the phone system to get to an actual human at Washington ESD.

Make sure to activate your card as soon as you get it! Mine sat in my mailbox for 2 days before I realized what it was.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•How do you activate it? Is there a phone number on the card?

Statiia Aarssizan
•Yeah, there's a phone number on the card and also online at the Bank of America website.

I'm on week 4 waiting for my card. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have bills to pay and Washington ESD is completely useless.

•At week 4 you should definitely call and request a replacement. Something went wrong.

pro tip: once you get your card, set up text alerts for when money gets deposited. Makes it easier to track your weekly payments.

Lukas Fitzgerald
•Good idea! I'll make sure to do that when I get my card.

I finally got through to Washington ESD after using that Claimyr service and they told me cards are taking 10-14 business days right now due to high volume. At least I got a straight answer!
