When do I get my Washington ESD unemployment debit card after approval?
My claim was approved last week and I can see my payment amount in my account, but I still haven't received my debit card. Washington ESD said it would be mailed but didn't give me a timeline. It's been 8 days since approval and I really need to access my benefits. Does anyone know how long the card usually takes to arrive? I'm worried it got lost in the mail or something.

The Washington ESD debit card usually takes 7-10 business days to arrive after your first payment is processed. Since you were approved last week, you should get it any day now. Check your mailbox daily - it comes in a plain white envelope that's easy to miss.

•Thanks! I'll keep watching for it. Do you know if there's a way to track when it was mailed?

•Not really, Washington ESD doesn't provide tracking info for the cards. Just be patient, it'll show up.

•That's reassuring to hear. I was starting to worry something went wrong.

If you need to contact Washington ESD about your card status, I'd recommend trying Claimyr.com - they have a service that helps you actually get through to an agent. I used it last month when I had issues and it worked great. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

•How much does that cost? I'm already struggling financially waiting for my card.

•It's worth checking out their site for pricing, but honestly the time you save is huge. I was able to get my card issue resolved in one call instead of trying for weeks.

The card comes from KeyBank, not directly from Washington ESD. Sometimes people don't realize that and throw away the envelope thinking it's junk mail. Make sure to open everything from KeyBank!

•Good point! I'll tell my roommates to save any KeyBank mail too.

•YES! I almost threw mine away because I thought it was a credit card offer. The envelope doesn't say unemployment on it.

Wait, you can see your payment in your account already? Where do you see that? I was approved 3 days ago but don't see any payment info anywhere.

•When you log into your Washington ESD account, there's a section that shows your payment history. It should show up there once it's processed.

•Sometimes there's a delay between approval and the payment actually being processed. Give it a few more days.

I've been waiting 3 WEEKS for my card and Washington ESD keeps giving me the runaround. This system is ridiculous! How are people supposed to survive without access to their benefits?

•That's way too long. You should definitely call them about that. If regular calling isn't working, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier might help you get through to someone who can actually do something about it.

•3 weeks?! That's terrible. Have you tried calling KeyBank directly about the card?

Pro tip: once you get your card, activate it immediately and set up your PIN. You can also check the balance online or through the KeyBank app.

•Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to do that as soon as it arrives.

Does anyone know if you can get a replacement card if the first one never shows up? I'm worried about that happening.

•Yes, you can request a replacement through KeyBank, but there might be a fee for it. Better to wait the full 10 business days first.

•I had to get a replacement and it was like $5 or something. Not too bad but annoying when you're already broke.

The whole debit card system is so outdated. Why can't they just do direct deposit like normal jobs?

Liam McGuire
•You can actually set up direct deposit for Washington ESD benefits, but you have to request it specifically. Most people don't know about that option.

•Really? How do you do that? That would be so much easier.

I got my card in exactly 9 business days. Came on a Thursday in a plain white envelope from KeyBank. Just be patient!

Make sure your address is correct in your Washington ESD account. I had a friend whose card got sent to an old address and it took forever to sort out.

•Good point, I just double-checked and my address is correct. Hopefully it's just taking the normal time.

Does the card come activated or do you have to call to activate it? I want to be prepared when mine arrives.

Ava Rodriguez
•You have to activate it. There are instructions in the envelope, usually a phone number to call or you can do it online.

Oliver Becker
•The activation is super easy, just takes a few minutes on the phone.

I used Claimyr when my card didn't show up after 2 weeks and they helped me get through to someone who could track it down. Turns out it was sent to the wrong address and they expedited a new one. Saved me weeks of frustration.

For anyone still waiting, remember you can also check if there are any holds on your account that might delay the card being sent. Sometimes Washington ESD puts a hold for additional verification.

QuantumQuasar
•How do you check for holds? I don't see anything obvious in my account.

•Look for any alerts or messages in your account dashboard. If there are issues, they usually show up there.

The waiting game is brutal when you need the money. Hang in there everyone! At least Washington ESD is more reliable than some other states I've heard about.

•True, my sister in another state waited over a month for her card. 10 days seems reasonable in comparison.

Once you get your card, download the KeyBank app. It's actually pretty useful for checking your balance and transaction history without having to call or go online.

Still waiting for mine after 12 days. Starting to get worried. Should I call KeyBank or Washington ESD first?
0 coins
Giovanni Greco
•I'd try Washington ESD first since they're the ones who initiate the card being sent. If you can't get through, that Claimyr service might help you reach someone faster.
