What's the number to unemployment Washington ESD - can't find working phone line
I've been trying to call Washington ESD for two weeks now and I can't find a phone number that actually works. Every number I try either gives me a busy signal or disconnects after being on hold for hours. I need to check on my claim status but the website doesn't show enough details. Does anyone know what's the actual current phone number to unemployment that connects to a real person?

The main Washington ESD customer service number is 800-318-6022 but good luck getting through. I've been trying for three days straight and keep getting disconnected.

•That's the same number I've been calling! It's so frustrating. Do you know if there are specific times that work better?

•I heard early morning like 7am works best but I can't confirm

The phone system is completely overloaded. I work in HR and deal with this regularly - the 800-318-6022 number is correct but you need to call right at 8am when they open. Even then it's hit or miss.

•I tried calling at 8am yesterday and still couldn't get through. Is there any other way to reach them?

•You can try the employer line at 855-829-9243 but that's technically for employers only. Sometimes they transfer you though.

Honestly I gave up trying to call and used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you. They have some video showing how it works https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ and it actually got me through to someone at Washington ESD in like 30 minutes.

•Is that legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed.

•Yeah it's real, they basically just call the same numbers over and over until they get through then connect you. Saved me hours of frustration.

•I was skeptical too but tried it last week and it worked. Got connected to an actual Washington ESD rep who helped with my adjudication issue.

THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS!!! How are we supposed to get help when they make it impossible to contact them? I've been calling for WEEKS about my disqualification and can't get through to anyone. The system is broken!

•I feel your pain. Been there myself. Have you tried calling different numbers at different times?

•I've tried everything. Every number, every time of day. Nothing works. I'm about to lose my apartment.

•Try that Claimyr thing the other person mentioned. I used it yesterday and finally got through after months of trying myself.

Here are all the Washington ESD numbers I know: Main line 800-318-6022, Employer line 855-829-9243, TDD line 800-365-8969. The TDD line sometimes has shorter wait times even if you're not hearing impaired.

GalaxyGlider
•Thank you! I'll try the TDD line. Didn't know that was an option.

Amara Okafor
•The TDD line is supposed to be for hearing impaired but they won't turn you away if you explain your situation.

•I tried the TDD line and got through in 45 minutes. They transferred me to regular customer service no problem.

I called 847 times in one week (yes I counted) before I finally got through to someone. The key is persistence and calling exactly at 8am when they open.

GalaxyGlider
•847 times?! That's insane. How is that acceptable?
0 coins
Dylan Campbell
•It's not acceptable but it's reality. I had to resolve an overpayment issue and had no choice.

•This is exactly why I started using Claimyr. Life's too short to spend weeks calling unemployment.

Pro tip: Don't hang up when you get the busy signal. Sometimes if you stay on the line it will eventually connect you to the hold music. I've had this work twice.

GalaxyGlider
•Really? I always hang up when I get the busy signal. I'll try staying on the line next time.

•Yeah I've heard this too but it's never worked for me. Maybe depends on the time of day?

I finally got through last month and the rep told me they're getting 100,000+ calls per day but only have capacity for about 10,000. She said the best times are right at 8am or during lunch hours around 12-1pm when some people stop calling.

GalaxyGlider
•That's crazy. No wonder it's impossible to get through. Did they give you any other advice?

Sofia Torres
•She said to keep trying or use their online messaging system, but that takes weeks for a response too.

Mei Wong
•The online messaging is useless. I sent three messages and never got responses to any of them.

For anyone still struggling, here's what I've learned from dealing with Washington ESD professionally: Call at 8:00am sharp, have your SSN and claim number ready, and be prepared to wait. If you get disconnected, call back immediately - sometimes you get lucky with a shorter queue.

•Thank you for the professional insight. I'll try the 8am strategy again tomorrow.

•I've tried the 8am thing multiple times and still can't get through. This system is broken.

•It really is broken. I wish I had better news but persistence is the only way through their system.

Just want to add that I tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned and it really works. I was skeptical but after two months of trying to call myself, I figured why not. Got connected to Washington ESD within an hour and resolved my weekly claim issue.

•That's three people now who've recommended Claimyr. I might have to try it if I can't get through tomorrow.

•Same here, I used it last week after seeing it mentioned in another forum. Definitely worth it to avoid the calling nightmare.

Has anyone tried calling the regional offices directly? I know they're supposed to transfer you to the main line but maybe it's worth a shot?
0 coins
Amara Okafor
•The regional offices don't handle UI claims anymore, they'll just give you the same 800 number.

Ava Martinez
•Figured as much but thought I'd ask. This whole system needs an overhaul.

I've been calling for three months straight about my adjudication and finally got through yesterday. The rep was helpful but said the wait times are only getting worse, not better.

GalaxyGlider
•Three months?! What finally worked for you?

•Pure luck honestly. Called at 8:02am and somehow got through on the first try. No special trick.

•Sometimes it really is just random luck. I called 800+ times then got through on a Tuesday afternoon randomly.

This thread is making me feel better about my situation. I thought I was doing something wrong but apparently everyone is having the same problem getting through to Washington ESD.

•You're definitely not doing anything wrong. The system is just overwhelmed.

•Yeah it's not you, it's them. The phone system has been broken for years.

For what it's worth, I called the 800-318-6022 number this morning at exactly 8:00am and got through after 2 hours on hold. Persistence pays off sometimes.

GalaxyGlider
•That's encouraging! I'll definitely try the 8am approach again. Two hours is long but better than never getting through.

Connor Gallagher
•Two hours is actually pretty good for Washington ESD. I've waited 4+ hours before getting disconnected.

Connor Gallagher
The worst part is when you wait for hours and then get disconnected right before talking to someone. Has happened to me three times now.
0 coins
GalaxyGlider
•That's heartbreaking. I would lose my mind if that happened to me.
0 coins
StarStrider
•It's happened to me too! I actually cried the last time it happened. So frustrating.

Giovanni Colombo
•This is why I gave up calling myself and used Claimyr. At least then if you get disconnected, they keep trying for you.

I work nights so I can call during business hours easily. Even with that advantage, it still takes me multiple attempts to get through. The system is just broken.
0 coins
GalaxyGlider
•If someone who can call during business hours is having trouble, there's really no hope for the rest of us.
0 coins
Yara Sayegh
•Exactly. It's not about when you call, it's about how overloaded their system is.

I finally got through yesterday and asked the rep about the phone issues. She said they know about the problems but don't have enough staff to handle the call volume. No timeline for improvements.
0 coins
GalaxyGlider
•At least they acknowledge the problem exists. Doesn't help us get through but it's something.
0 coins
StarStrider
•Acknowledging it doesn't pay my bills though. We need actual solutions.

Keisha Johnson
•I agree, but unfortunately we're stuck with the system we have. The rep did say online services are being improved.

Just adding my voice to say the phone situation is ridiculous. I'm a single parent and can't spend all day calling unemployment. There has to be a better way.

GalaxyGlider
•I feel for you. This system really hurts people who are already struggling.
0 coins
Giovanni Colombo
•This is exactly the situation where Claimyr helps. They do the calling so you don't have to tie up your whole day.

Paolo Longo
•I might have to look into that. Can't keep missing work to call unemployment.
