Weekly claims keep getting disqualified with no explanation from ESD - no way to appeal!

I'm at my wit's end with ESD! I filed my initial claim 6 weeks ago and have diligently submitted my weekly claims with all required job search activities. At first, the system showed 'Pending Adjudication' which seemed normal. Then I received an eligibility letter stating my weekly benefit amount ($625), which still shows under my Benefits tab. But here's the bizarre part - there's absolutely NOTHING listed under Pending Issues, Decisions, Letters, Notices, or Alerts. Yet somehow, ESD keeps disqualifying each of my weekly claims without explanation! I can't even appeal because there's no formal decision to appeal against. How am I supposed to know why my claims are being rejected when there's zero communication about it? I've tried calling at least 30 times over the past few weeks but either get disconnected or told the queue is full. Is anyone else experiencing this weird limbo state? Any suggestions on how to get an actual human to review my situation?

This happened to me last month. Turns out there was an identity verification issue they never bothered to tell me about. Check your spam folder first for any emails from ESD. Then log into your SAW account (not just eServices) and see if there are any action items there. Sometimes the main ESD portal doesn't show everything. If that doesn't work, try sending a secure message through the portal specifically asking why your claims are being disqualified despite having an eligibility determination.

Thanks for the tips! I just checked my spam folder and SAW account but nothing there either. I've sent three secure messages over the past 10 days with no response. It's like my claim is stuck in some weird system glitch where I'm approved but also not approved? So frustrating!

did u check the "disqualification" tab? sometimes its hidden under decisions but u have to click thru a couple screens to find it. my cousin had this happen and turned out he answered a question wrong on his weekly claim about being available for work or something. u might need to go back and look at exactly how u answered each question

I've clicked through every tab I can find! There's no disqualification reason listed anywhere. I double-checked all my weekly certification answers too - I always say yes to being available and looking for work, and I document all my job search activities. That's what makes this so crazy - there's literally nothing telling me what's wrong!

This sounds like a technical glitch in their system. I've seen this happen when there's a mismatch between what their eligibility system determined and what their payment system is doing. Here's what I recommend: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims correctly while you resolve this 2. Request a formal determination letter regarding your disqualifications by sending a secure message specifically asking for this 3. Contact your state representative or senator - they can often get ESD to look at problems faster 4. If you have a WorkSource office nearby, go in person and ask them to check what's happening with your claim (they have limited access but can sometimes see more than you can) If your eligibility determination was positive and you're meeting all requirements, they legally must provide a written explanation for any disqualifications, which you can then appeal.

Thank you for these detailed suggestions! I'll definitely send another secure message specifically requesting a formal determination letter. Contacting my state rep is a great idea I hadn't thought of. I've been documenting everything so hopefully that will help. I just need SOME explanation of what's happening.

I never fixed it myself, i finally got thru to someone on the phone after calling like 100 times, and they fixed it on there end. Turned out there was some stupid flag on my account that shouldnt have been there. Got backpay for all 8 weeks at once.

Have you tried using Claimyr to reach ESD? I was in a similar situation last month - approved but claims getting disqualified with no explanation. After weeks of failed calling attempts, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to see that there was a flag on my account from an employer response that wasn't showing up in my portal. They removed the flag and processed my backpay for all the disqualified weeks. Seems like these "invisible" issues are happening to a lot of people recently.

I hadn't heard of Claimyr before. I'll check out that video. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get this resolved! Did they actually fix it permanently or just for the past weeks?

They fixed it permanently - all my subsequent weekly claims have processed normally. The agent explained that sometimes these flags get stuck in their system and don't trigger the normal notification process. Once someone manually reviews it, they can clear it and everything works normally again.

Could be an availability issue. When you file weekly claims, are you saying you're available for full-time work every day? I've seen cases where people have restrictions (like only available certain hours or days) and don't realize that's affecting their eligibility. Even if you're looking for part-time work, you generally need to be available for full-time work to qualify for benefits unless you have a special circumstance that ESD has approved. Also, check if there's any earnings you may have forgotten to report, even small amounts can cause issues if not reported correctly.

I'm definitely saying I'm available for full-time work every day of the week, and I haven't had any earnings to report. That's what's so puzzling - I'm following all the rules but getting nowhere!

After reading your responses, I think your best bet is to get on the phone with an actual agent. They can see things in their system that don't show up in the portal. And since you've already sent multiple secure messages without response, calling is really your only option. I'd try early morning (right when they open) or try the Claimyr service mentioned above. Please update us when you figure out what's going on - this data point might help others facing similar issues.

You're right - I need to get an actual person on the phone. I'll try at 8am sharp tomorrow and if that doesn't work, I'll look into the Claimyr option. Thanks everyone for your help! I'll definitely update when I figure this out.

UPDATE: Finally got through to ESD this morning! Turns out there was a flag on my account because my former employer contested my eligibility (even though I was laid off). The weird thing is this wasn't showing ANYWHERE in my online account. The agent removed the flag, approved all my weeks, and said I should receive payment for everything within 48 hours. She also added a note so my future weekly claims shouldn't have this problem. What a relief!
