Approved after adjudication but all weekly claims still show 'disqualified' - ESD backpay issues
I've been stuck in this bizarre ESD limbo since early January 2025 and don't know what to do next. I filed weekly claims religiously for almost 8 weeks while my separation issue was in adjudication. Last Thursday I FINALLY got the determination letter saying they ruled in my favor (former employer tried claiming misconduct when it was actually a layoff due to budget cuts). Here's the weird part - I logged in expecting to see backpay for those 8 weeks, but every single one of my weekly claims still shows 'disqualified' status. Nothing changed! My eligibility issues section shows 'no pending issues' now, but the claims themselves are still marked disqualified. I should be owed about $5,200 in backpay from those weeks. To make things more confusing, I just filed my newest weekly claim on Sunday and it's been more than 48 hours but only shows 'processing' instead of the usual quick approval or disqualification. The ESD phone lines are impossible - I've been calling for three days straight. Does the system need time to update after adjudication? Do I need to call someone specific? Has anyone else had their status changed from disqualified to paid after winning adjudication?

This happened to me back in February! When they rule in your favor after adjudication, it takes their system about 2 weeks to update all your previous claims. Don't panic! The status won't change from "disqualified" to "paid" overnight. ESD has to manually review each of those weeks to make sure you met all other eligibility requirements (job search, etc) for each of those weeks. The fact that your most recent claim says "processing" is actually a GOOD sign - it means the system is starting to recognize your eligibility. Just keep checking your account daily. If nothing has changed after 2 full weeks from your determination letter, THEN start worrying about calling them.

•Oh thank goodness! That makes me feel so much better. I was worried I'd have to go through some whole new appeal process for each disqualified week. I'll give it the two weeks and see what happens. Do you remember if they contacted you at all during that waiting period or did the payments just suddenly appear?

There's usually a delay btwn winning adjudication and getting backpay. My friend had to wait almost 3 weeks!!! ESD is so slow with everything they do lol. But one thing - make sure u double check that u did your job search activities for ALL those weeks that were disqualified. If u didnt do the 3 job search activities each week thinking u wouldn't get paid anyway, they might deny those specific weeks even tho u won your main case.

•I did do all my job search activities thankfully! I kept a detailed log even when the claims were getting disqualified because my WorkSource advisor told me to just in case. So at least I don't have to worry about that part. 3 weeks though... ugh. This whole process has been so stressful.

You need to call ESD directly to have them release those payments. The system doesn't automatically update claim status from disqualified to paid after adjudication - it requires manual intervention. The determination letter just means they've made a decision, but someone still needs to review your file and authorize the back payments. I recommend calling right when they open at 8:00 AM. Try the claims center at 833-572-8400, choose the option for questions about your claim (not filing a new one). Be prepared to wait 2+ hours, so charge your phone and use a headset if possible. Alternatively, you can try Claimyr to get through faster (https://claimyr.com). I was skeptical but used their service after 5 days of failed calls. Their system got me a callback from ESD within 45 minutes. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

•Are you SURE about this??? This contradicts what others are saying about it updating automatically. I don't want to waste hours on the phone if the system will update on its own. Has anyone actually confirmed you HAVE to call? The ESD website is so useless for explaining any of this stuff.

congrats on winning ur case. the ESD computers are from like 1995 or something lol... everything takes forever to update. my status was wrong for like 3 weeks after i got approved last summer and then one day all the money just showed up in my account. if u can actually get someone on the phone they might speed it up but good luck with that!!!

•Thanks! Yeah their system seems totally ancient. I guess I'm just paranoid because I really need this money. I've been living on credit cards waiting for this to resolve.

Based on current ESD processing protocols, here's what's actually happening: Once adjudication is resolved in your favor, your claim is placed in a payment processing queue. The "disqualified" status remains until a payment specialist manually reviews each week and authorizes payment, which typically takes 7-14 business days from determination. Your most recent claim shows "processing" because it's being handled under your new eligible status rather than being auto-disqualified like previous weeks. This is normal. If it's been more than 14 business days since your determination letter, then you should contact ESD. Otherwise, this is following the standard post-adjudication timeline. The backpay will eventually be processed as a lump sum payment. Make sure your payment method is correctly set up in the system (direct deposit or debit card) to avoid further delays once processing completes.

I had EXACT SAME PROBLEM in January!!! It was infuriating! After winning adjudication, all my claims still said disqualified for 3 WEEKS!!! I called and called but couldn't get through to anyone. I finally got through using that Claimyr service and the ESD person told me there was a "release hold" that needed to be removed manually but no one had done it. Once she removed it, I got all my back pay in 2 days! DON'T WAIT for it to update automatically - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If you can't get through on the phone, seriously try that Claimyr thing. Saved me weeks of waiting and frustration.

•This is really helpful - thanks for sharing your experience. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow morning, but if I still can't get through I'll look into the Claimyr service. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might help!
