Favorable ESD determination but claims still show 'disqualified' - when will I get backpay?

I'm so confused about what's happening with my unemployment. I finally got a determination letter on January 30th saying ESD decided in my favor after waiting FOREVER. But when I check my weekly claims, they all still say "disqualified" with no explanation why! There's literally no messages telling me what's wrong. Nothing in my ESD inbox either. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to actually process the backpay after a favorable determination? I've got like 6 weeks of claims that should be paid now. My rent is already late and my landlord is getting super annoyed. I tried calling but just get the "high call volume" message and disconnected. Getting desperate here... has anyone been through this?

That's a really common issue with ESD right now. Even when they rule in your favor, their system can take 7-10 business days to update all your weekly claims from "disqualified" to "paid". It's super frustrating! If you just got the determination on the 30th, they're probably still updating everything in their system. One thing that helped me was using Claimyr to actually reach a live agent instead of getting disconnected. It connects you directly to ESD without waiting through all the busy signals. I found it at claimyr.com and they have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I talked to was able to manually review my account and tell me exactly when my payments would process. Saved me a lot of anxiety!

Thanks for the tip! Is this Claimyr thing legit? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they actually help you get your payments faster or just give you info about when they'd come through?

omg SAME THING happened to me last month!!! its so annoying how they say ur approved but then dont actually pay u!!!! i waited 2 weeks after my determination and still nothing, then finally called like 50 times and got through. the lady said there was some "payment block" that didnt get removed. she fixed it right there and i got paid 2 days later. keep calling!!!

This is actually very important information. After a favorable determination, sometimes there's a payment block that needs to be manually removed. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it's not uncommon. If your payments don't start processing within a week, definitely keep trying to reach ESD.

The ESD system has been a complete disaster since they "upgraded" it in 2024. I went through this exact situation in November. Let me break down what's happening: 1. Your determination letter means the adjudicator ruled on your eligibility issue 2. But there's a separate step where they need to release the payments 3. The disqualification tags often stay until a payment processor reviews the account 4. This typically takes 5-14 business days but can take longer if there's a backlog The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to keep filing your weekly claims even while waiting. Don't stop! If you stop filing, that creates a whole new set of problems. Also, if nothing changes after 14 business days, you may need to contact your state representative. They have special ESD liaisons who can escalate your case. I had to do this after waiting 3 weeks with no movement.

Thank you for breaking that down! I didn't know there was a separate payment process after the determination. That explains a lot. I'll definitely keep filing my claims. Do you know if there's any way to check if there's a payment block on my account? Or is that something only ESD can see?

Let me provide some accurate information here, as I work with unemployment cases frequently: After a favorable determination, there are several reasons why your weekly claims might still show as disqualified: 1. System delay: The most common reason - it takes 7-10 business days for the system to update all affected weeks 2. Payment blocks: Sometimes manual intervention is needed to remove blocks even after favorable determination 3. Multiple issues: Your favorable determination might only address one issue, while other issues remain 4. Conditional approval: Some approvals require additional verification before payment To resolve this efficiently: - Keep filing weekly claims - Check your eServices account daily for new messages - If no change after 10 business days, you need to contact ESD directly - Document everything: determination letter date, claim weeks affected, etc. In the current ESD environment, patience is unfortunately necessary, but persistent follow-up is also important.

This is 100% correct. A lot of people don't realize there could be multiple issues on their claim. I've seen people get approved for one issue and think they're good to go, only to find out there's another adjudication happening separately.

When I was waiting for my backpay after a favorable determination last month, I found that sending a secure message through the ESD portal asking for a specific update on payment timing actually worked! They responded within 3 days with the exact date my payments would process. Make sure your message is super specific - ask directly about when payments for your already-determined claim will process. Don't just ask general questions or they'll send a generic response. Worth a try while you're waiting!

I'll definitely try this! Just sent a message through the portal asking specifically about payment timing. Fingers crossed they respond quickly. I'll update here if I get any useful info back!

You should check if you have any additional fact-finding questions in your eServices account. Sometimes there are multiple issues and even if one gets resolved favorably, another might be holding up payment. Log in and look under "Alerts" and also check all tabs under the "Uploads and Messages" section. I missed a fact-finding questionnaire that was hiding there and it delayed my payments for weeks!

THIS!!! they hide important stuff in weird places on the website and then blame US when we dont find it!! happened to me too and the rep had the nerve to say it was MY fault for not checking some random tab!!!!

Just following up - did you ever get your payments resolved? I'm curious if the website message suggestion or anything else worked for you.

Update: Finally got through to ESD yesterday! Used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and it actually worked. Turns out I had a payment block that needed manual removal even though they ruled in my favor. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone and said payments should process within 48 hours. Just checked my account and the status changed from "disqualified" to "pending"! Relief!!
