ESD approved my UI claim but weekly claims still showing disqualified after 3 weeks

So frustrated right now! My initial unemployment claim was approved (got the monetary determination letter and everything), but for the last 3 weeks when I file my weekly claims, each one shows up as 'disqualified' in my account. No explanation why! The weirdest part is that the system tells me I can file an appeal, but when I click through to the appeals page, there's literally no option to appeal these disqualifications. I've tried calling ESD at least 15 times a day but can never get through - just disconnected after the automated messages. I also sent a message through eServices but got that automated response saying it could take 20+ days for someone to respond. My rent is due next week and I'm seriously panicking. Has anyone dealt with this weird disqualification loop before? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

this happened to me last month! turned out I had checked the wrong box for 'able and available for work' even tho I WAS available. the system is super buggy and confusing. You need to talk to someone there asap

Thanks for responding! Did you eventually get it fixed? How did you actually reach someone? I'm getting desperate here.

There are a few reasons this might be happening. The most common are: 1) You answered a question incorrectly on your weekly claim (like saying you weren't able/available to work) 2) You have an identity verification issue that's pending 3) There's an employer dispute about your separation reason 4) You have work hours or earnings you reported that need verification Until you can speak with someone, I recommend reviewing all your weekly claims carefully. Look for any answers that might trigger a disqualification. Also check if you received ANY other notices in your ESD account or by mail that might explain the hold. When you do get through to an agent, they can tell you exactly why you're being disqualified and how to fix it. The issue is almost certainly fixable, but you need to know what's causing it first.

Thank you for this detailed response! I double-checked all my weekly claims and I definitely answered that I was able and available for work. I haven't received any notices requesting additional information. Seems like I really need to talk to someone at ESD to figure this out.

I had a similar problem and I discovered I had an old claim from 2021 that was causing issues with my new one. Check if you have any past claims that might need to be resolved first. The system is terrible at explaining this stuff.

That's interesting - I did have a claim back in 2022 that I stopped filing for when I found work. I wonder if that's causing problems somehow. I really need to speak with someone to figure this out.

The disconnect between being approved for UI benefits but having disqualified weekly claims usually points to a specific issue that needs resolution. When the appeal option doesn't appear, it often means the system hasn't properly processed the disqualification yet or there's another underlying issue. Your best course of action is speaking directly with an ESD claims specialist who can see exactly what's flagging in their system. They can often fix these issues immediately once you reach them. I've helped several people work through similar situations, and the common denominator is getting someone on the phone. Until then, continue filing your weekly claims correctly despite the disqualifications - once resolved, they can process backpay for those weeks if you've met all other requirements.

Thank you for the reassurance and advice. I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims. Any tips on actually getting through to someone? I've been trying the main number constantly with no luck.

That's terrifying - I'm so sorry you went through that. Were you eventually able to get it resolved? Did you get backpay for all those weeks?

After dealing with a similar issue last month, I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it was a game-changer. It's a service that helps you get through to an ESD agent instead of getting disconnected. I was skeptical at first, but they got me through to an agent in about 25 minutes after I'd been trying for weeks on my own. The agent identified my issue immediately - turned out I had an ID verification flag that never triggered a notification to me. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 It was worth it to finally get my issue resolved and stop the stress. The agent I spoke with fixed my disqualifications on the spot and I got my backpay the following week.

Does this service really work? Im skeptical of anything claiming to get you thru to ESD faster. Their phone system is literally the worst thing ever designed by humans lol

I was skeptical too, but yes, it absolutely worked for me. The alternative was continuing to try on my own and getting nowhere for who knows how many more weeks. They use some system to navigate the phone tree and hold in line for you, then call you when they've got an agent. My issue was resolved in one call.

UPDATE: I got through the line! Turns out I had an old claim from 2022 that was marked Ineligible because they never verified my ID back then. I've now submitted my ID verification and once that gets cleared, they said they'll re-evaluate the disqualified weekly claims. The agent was actually super helpful once I finally reached someone. Fingers crossed this doesn't take too long to resolve. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Great news! This is exactly the kind of hidden issue I suspected. Once the ID verification is processed, they should be able to clear those disqualifications quickly. Make sure to keep filing your weekly claims in the meantime so you don't miss any potential benefits.

To answer those asking how I got through: I tried that Claimyr service that someone mentioned above. Honestly, after weeks of frustration, it was worth it to finally talk to someone who could help. The ESD agent told me it could take 5-7 business days for the ID verification to process, then another few days for them to review my disqualified weeks. At least now I know what's going on!

Thanks for updating us! It's always helpful to hear how these situations get resolved. Hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you.
