Multiple disqualified weekly claims since August - no approval letter yet in 2025

I filed an unemployment claim back on August 13th (about 6 weeks ago) after getting laid off from my construction management job. I've been filing my weekly claims religiously every Sunday, but each one shows up as 'disqualified' in my eServices account. I still haven't received any approval letter or explanation. My account just says 'pending' for the initial claim but 'disqualified' for all weekly claims. I've called the ESD number at least 20 times but either get disconnected or am told the wait is over 4 hours. I uploaded all my ID verification docs and employment history when I first applied. Is there something else I'm supposed to do? How long should I keep filing disqualified claims before I get some kind of answer? Bills are piling up and I'm getting desperate.

it sounds like ur claim is stuck in adjudcation but they havent told u why. u need to keep filing even tho they show disqualified cuz when they fix the issue they'll pay all the qualified weeks at once. i had same thing happen for 7 weeks last year

Thanks... I've been worried I was doing something wrong each week. Do you know if there's any way to actually reach a person at ESD to find out why I'm in adjudication? Should I go to a WorkSource office in person?

Sounds like you're missing something in your weekly claims - maybe not reporting job search activities correctly? You have to list at least 3 job search activities each week or they'll disqualify you automatically. Check if you're forgetting to complete that section.

I've definitely been reporting my job searches - actually doing 5-6 per week and documenting everything. I even keep a separate spreadsheet to track them all. But the claim shows disqualified immediately after I submit it, before anyone would have time to review my job searches.

This is a common issue in 2025 with the new claim processing system. Your initial claim is likely flagged for identity verification or employer response. When this happens, all weekly claims get automatically disqualified until the initial claim is approved. Once approved, those weeks will change from disqualified to paid (assuming you meet all eligibility requirements). You should: 1. Continue filing weekly claims 2. Check your ESD dashboard for any alerts or action items 3. Look for any correspondence in your ESD message center 4. Make sure you've completed the identity verification through ID.me 5. Contact an ESD representative to check on the specific hold reason The system won't tell you why your initial claim is pending - only a claims specialist can see that information.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I've done everything on your list except #5 - I just can't get through to anyone on the phone. I've checked my message center obsessively and there's nothing there asking for additional information.

ARE U KIDDING ME??????? This is EXACTLY what happened to me back in March and it took TWELVE WEEKS to resolve!!! The ESD is completely broken and they don't care about people suffering. I lost my apartment waiting for them to fix their mistake. They never even explained what the problem was - just suddenly started paying me one day with no explanation. The whole system is designed to make people give up!!!

That's awful, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Did you ever figure out what caused the delay? I'm worried the same thing is happening to me.

My claim agent eventually told me my former employer didn't respond to the ESD's request for information so they just kept my claim in limbo instead of making a decision. Completely ridiculous!

After helping dozens of people with similar issues, I've found that getting through to a claims specialist is crucial for resolving this. When your initial claim is pending and weekly claims are disqualified, it typically means there's a specific issue that needs human review. I had great success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent. They basically hold your place in line and call you when they've got an agent on the phone. Saved me from spending hours redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once you get through, ask specifically: 1) Why your initial claim is pending, 2) What documentation they need, and 3) Request they escalate your claim due to financial hardship.

I've never heard of this service, but I'm definitely going to check it out. At this point I'd try anything to get answers. Did they require you to provide any sensitive information?

No sensitive information needed - they just need your phone number to call you back when they reach an agent. I was skeptical too, but it worked for me after weeks of failing to get through on my own. Just make sure you're ready with your claim ID and questions when they connect you.

I got caught in the same situation! My claim was stuck because my former employer contested the reason for separation. I said I was laid off but they claimed I quit - which would make me ineligible. This put me in adjudication limbo for 8 weeks with all my weekly claims showing disqualified. Make sure you clearly understand and can document your separation reason. If it was a layoff, have documentation showing that (severance letter, email communication, etc). This is often the holdup for construction industry claims since projects end and employers sometimes try to avoid unemployment claims by calling it a quit rather than a layoff.

That's really helpful - I'm in construction management and the company did close our entire division due to funding issues. I received a formal layoff notice but maybe they're contesting it? I'll dig up all that documentation. Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement. It's hard to stay positive when you're watching savings dwindle with no income coming in, but hearing that others got through this eventually helps.

Update? Were you able to reach someone at ESD? If your claim is related to a construction management layoff, they might also be verifying your work hours across multiple projects. Construction claims can be more complex because they often review multiple employers during the base year.

Yes! I used that Claimyr service and got through to ESD yesterday. You were right - my employer disputed the claim saying I was terminated for performance rather than laid off as part of the division closure. I've submitted emails proving the entire division was eliminated and 23 people were let go simultaneously. The agent escalated my case and said it should be resolved within 7-10 business days. Thank you everyone for the help!
