Weekly ESD claims stuck in 'Processing - Web' status after resubmission issue
I'm stressing out over my weekly ESD payments being delayed. Here's what happened: I always file my UI claims Sunday nights and get paid by Wednesday afternoon like clockwork. On January 7th, I submitted as usual but by Thursday when no money hit my account, I checked my ESD portal and somehow my claim wasn't actually submitted! The system was telling me I still needed to file, so I resubmitted Thursday afternoon. Then this past Sunday (Jan 14th), I filed again for the new week and triple-checked it went through. Now I've got TWO weeks showing as "Processing - Web" status and haven't received payment for either. I'm getting worried since I've got rent coming up. I know Monday (Jan 15th) was a holiday, but shouldn't at least the first week's payment have processed by now? Has anyone experienced claims getting stuck like this after having to resubmit? How long should I expect to wait before contacting ESD?

exact same thing happened to me last month!! it's super frustrating when you think you've filed but somehow it doesnt go thru. mine was stuck in processing for like 10 days after i resubmitted a missed week. keep checking your account daily, it should eventually change from processing to paid

•10 days?! Seriously? That's going to put me in a really tough spot with bills. Did you ever figure out why it happened in the first place? I swear I clicked submit the first time.

When you have two claims in Processing status at once, it often triggers an automatic review. This is actually a fairly common issue - the system has safeguards that flag potential duplicate submissions. The good news is that once a human reviewer confirms you weren't trying to claim the same week twice, both payments should be released. The bad news is that with the holiday backlog, it might take 7-10 business days for this review to happen. Here's my advice: document everything. Screenshot your claim status page showing both claims in processing status. If you have any email confirmations from when you submitted either claim, save those too. If nothing changes by next Tuesday (which would be 10 business days from your first resubmission), you should definitely contact ESD.

•this is why the ESD system SUCKS. They make everything so complicated with these automatic flags and then don't tell anyone what's happening!! And the phone lines?? Forget about ever getting through...

I had a similar issue last year where my claim didn't process correctly and then I had to resubmit. Once I had two claims in the system, one of them went into adjudication for some reason and I couldn't get any answers from the automated system. I tried calling ESD for THREE WEEKS straight and could never get through - either busy signals or it would disconnect me after being on hold forever. Finally I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in about 25 minutes! It basically holds your place in line so you don't have to keep calling back. The agent was able to see both my claims and manually push them through once they verified I wasn't double-dipping. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Honestly it was worth it for me because I was about to miss rent payments.

•Thanks for the suggestion. If this goes on much longer I might try that. I really can't afford to wait weeks for this to resolve on its own. Did they explain why your claim went into adjudication after resubmitting?

•While holidays do cause delays, the issue here is different - it's not just a holiday delay but an issue with having two claims simultaneously in processing status, which often requires manual review. Regular holiday delays usually only add 1-2 days, not 7-10 days.

Here's what's likely happening: When you have two consecutive weekly claims in "Processing - Web" status simultaneously, ESD's system often flags this for manual review to prevent potential fraud or duplicate payments. The system is designed to expect a normal pattern of one processed claim before the next is submitted. In your case, because the first claim wasn't properly submitted initially (this can happen if there's a browser issue or if the final confirmation button wasn't clicked), when you submitted both in close proximity, it triggered this review. I recommend taking these steps: 1. Check your eServices account for any alerts or action items in your dashboard 2. Verify your identity verification status is still active and not expired 3. Review your work search activities to ensure they're properly documented for both weeks 4. Wait until at least 5 business days from your last submission before taking further action If by next Tuesday your claims are still stuck, you'll need to contact ESD directly. Unfortunately, due to high call volumes following the holiday, getting through on the phone may be challenging. You might consider using the secure message feature in your eServices account as an alternative.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I just checked and don't see any alerts or action items. My work search activities are all documented correctly for both weeks. I've never had an issue with my identity verification before, but I'll double-check that too. If I do need to call them, what's the best time of day to try? I hear early morning is better but wasn't sure if that's true.

Early morning is definitely better - try right when they open at 8:00 AM. However, Tuesdays through Thursdays tend to have slightly lower call volumes than Mondays and Fridays. Also, if you do call, have your claim ID and last 4 of your SSN ready, and be prepared to verify your identity. The more prepared you are, the faster they can assist you once you get through.

•I've tried calling right at 8am multiple times and STILL couldn't get through!! The ESD phone system is completely broken. It just says "all representatives are busy" and hangs up on you. I ended up having to drive to my local WorkSource office and have them help me contact someone. If your claims don't process soon, that might be another option.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know what happened. One payment finally showed up in my account this morning! It was for the week ending Jan 7th. The other claim is still in processing status. Seems like they're working through the backlog after the holiday. Thanks for all the advice - I'll give the second payment a few more days before trying to contact ESD. At least I can pay part of my rent now!
