Washington ESD unemployment what day of the week are weekly claims due?
I'm completely lost about when I'm supposed to file my weekly claim with Washington ESD. I got approved for unemployment benefits last month but I keep missing the deadline or something because my payments are getting delayed. What day of the week are we supposed to submit our weekly claims? Is it different for different people or is there one day for everyone? I've been trying to figure this out from their website but it's confusing and I don't want to mess up my benefits.

Weekly claims are due every Sunday by midnight for the week ending Saturday. So you're reporting on work search activities and any wages from the previous Sunday through Saturday. The system opens Sunday morning and you have until 11:59 PM Sunday to file.

•Thank you! So I should be filing every Sunday for the week that just ended? I think I've been doing it wrong.

•Exactly. Sunday is the deadline. Don't wait until the last minute though - sometimes the system gets slow on Sunday evenings.

•I've had better luck filing earlier in the day on Sundays. The system seems more stable in the morning hours.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD to clarify filing schedules or resolve any issues with your weekly claims, I discovered Claimyr recently. It's a service that helps you actually reach ESD agents by phone - they handle the calling and waiting so you don't have to sit on hold for hours. Check out claimyr.com and they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Really helpful when you need to talk to someone about your specific claim situation.

•That sounds really useful! I've tried calling Washington ESD so many times and never get through. How does it actually work?

•Basically you give them your info and they call ESD for you, wait on hold, then connect you when they get through to an agent. Saves you from sitting by the phone all day.

•Is this legit? Sounds too good to be true tbh. Washington ESD lines are impossible.

Weekly claims filing schedule depends on your last name actually. They used to stagger it by alphabet but I think they changed it to all Sunday now?? Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Cynthia Love
•No, that's old information. It's Sunday for everyone now. They did away with the alphabetical system a while back.

•Sorry, I'm new to this and just trying to get it right. The paperwork was overwhelming.

•No need to be harsh. The system can be confusing for first-time filers.

Just a heads up that if you miss filing your weekly claim on Sunday, you can still file it late but you might have to call Washington ESD to explain why it was late. They sometimes allow it but not always.

•What happens if you're consistently late? Do they cut off your benefits?

Philip Cowan
•They can deny payment for weeks you file late without good cause. Better to set a Sunday reminder on your phone.

•Good advice about the phone reminder. I have mine set for Sunday morning so I don't forget.

Wait so what if you work part time during the week? Do you still file on Sunday and just report the hours you worked?
0 coins
Cynthia Love
•Yes, you still file every Sunday and report any work and wages from that week. Working part time doesn't change your filing day.

Demi Hall
•Thanks, I wasn't sure if working changed anything about the schedule.

I used to miss my Sunday filings all the time until I started doing it first thing Sunday morning with my coffee. Now it's just part of my routine.

Does anyone know if the time matters? Like if I file at 1 PM vs 8 PM on Sunday, does it make a difference for when I get paid?
0 coins
Cynthia Love
•No, as long as you file by Sunday midnight, the time doesn't affect your payment processing. Payments typically process Monday/Tuesday regardless.

Lena Schultz
•Perfect, thanks for clarifying that!

Another thing about Claimyr - I used it when I had questions about my weekly claim schedule and payment delays. Really worth it when you need to get specific answers about your claim rather than general info from the website.

•Did they charge you a lot for that service?

•They don't publish pricing upfront but it was reasonable considering how much time it saved me from trying to call myself.

Pro tip: Screenshot your confirmation page after filing each Sunday. I had an issue once where ESD said I didn't file but I had the screenshot proof.

•Smart! I'll start doing that just in case.

•Always save confirmation numbers too. Learned that the hard way.

•Yes! Confirmation numbers are crucial if there are any disputes about filing dates.

Sunday filing but what time zone? I travel for work sometimes and want to make sure I don't miss the deadline.

•Washington ESD operates on Pacific Time, so Sunday midnight PT is the deadline regardless of where you are.

•Good to know, I'll need to adjust when I'm traveling east.

The Sunday thing is correct but what I don't understand is why they make it so hard to find this basic information on their website. Everything is buried in PDFs.

•RIGHT?? The Washington ESD website is a nightmare to navigate. Basic info should be front and center.

•I agree the website could be more user-friendly. A simple FAQ section would help a lot of people.

If you're really struggling with filing or have technical issues, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier might be worth trying. I had a friend use it when she couldn't get through to resolve a filing error.

•I'm definitely going to look into that if I keep having problems. Seems like a lot of people have had good experiences with it.

•Yeah she said it was straightforward and she got connected to an actual ESD agent pretty quickly.

Sunday filing deadline but don't forget you also need to do your work search activities during the week. Filing is just reporting what you already did.

•Good point! I need to make sure I'm doing my job searches throughout the week, not just scrambling on Sunday.

•Exactly, the work search log should be updated as you go, not all at once on filing day.

Quick question - if Sunday is a holiday, does the deadline change or is it still Sunday?
0 coins
Cynthia Love
•Still Sunday even if it's a holiday. The online system doesn't observe holidays for weekly claim filing.

Sunday midnight deadline is correct but I always try to file by Saturday night just to be safe. Never know if the website will have issues.

For anyone still confused: File your weekly claim every Sunday by midnight PT for the week that just ended (Sunday through Saturday). That's it. Mark your calendars!

One more Claimyr mention since people are asking about it - I used them when I had issues with my weekly claim processing and needed to talk to someone at ESD urgently. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ explains it better than I can, but basically they save you the headache of trying to get through yourself.
