How to verify direct deposit info on ESD when filing new claim without being asked for bank details
I'm stressing about my direct deposit details with ESD and could use some help. I had a claim back in 2020 with direct deposit set up, and I just filed a new claim in 2025. The system never asked me to verify or update my banking information during this new application process. Does this mean it's automatically using my old account? I've been looking everywhere on the ESD website trying to find where I can check what bank account they have on file, but I can't find anything. I'm worried because I've actually changed banks since 2020, and I don't want my benefits going to a closed account. Does anyone know where to view/edit direct deposit information after you've already submitted a claim?

You can verify your direct deposit info by going to your eServices account, then select 'UI Claim' from the menu. Next, look for 'Payment Options' or 'Update Payment Information' - it's usually towards the bottom of the page. If you don't see it there, try the 'Settings' tab. ESD definitely keeps your old payment info on file, but you should be able to update it anytime. Better do it ASAP before your first payment processes!

•Thank you so much! I just checked and you're right - it was under Settings and then a sub-menu called 'Payment Preferences.' And yikes, it was still linked to my old closed account! Just updated it. So relieved I caught this before payments started going out.

•Oh no, that sounds awful! I'm glad I asked here. I would've been in serious trouble if I had to wait 6 weeks for payments.

The ESD website is SO FRUSTRATING to navigate!!! I had the exact same problem last year and spent HOURS trying to find the stupid direct deposit page. Why can't they just have a clear button that says "UPDATE BANK INFO" right on the dashboard?? It's like they WANT us to miss payments and suffer! 😡

•Totally agree with you. Their website feels like it was designed in 2005 and never updated. I actually had to call them to figure out where to update my payment info.

To be clear on this process, ESD does retain your payment information from previous claims, which is why you weren't asked to re-enter it. However, there's a specific process to verify or update it: 1. Log into your eServices account 2. Select "Update Account Information" from the main menu 3. Choose the "Payment Details" tab 4. Here you can review your current direct deposit information and make changes if needed It's always good practice to verify this information when filing a new claim, especially if it's been a few years since your last one. If you can't access this section for any reason, you may need to contact ESD directly to confirm they have your correct banking information.

•Thank you for the detailed steps! I found it and updated my info. Quick question though - will this affect my payment timing? My claim was already approved and says first payment should be processed this week.

•Great that you found it! Regarding timing: if you updated your bank info before the payment was processed, your payment should go to the new account. However, if the payment was already processing when you made the change, it might attempt to go to the old account first. If that happens and the account is closed, the payment will eventually be returned to ESD, who will then reissue it to your new account - but that can take 7-10 business days. Keep an eye on your claim status for updates.

I tried calling ESD directly to verify my banking info last month when I had the same concern, but I was on hold for over 2 hours and then got disconnected. Totally frustrating! I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They verified my banking info and updated it for me. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - saved me so much time and stress!

•Does that service actually work? I'm always skeptical of these things claiming to get you through to ESD faster. Did you have to provide them with your personal information?

•It definitely worked for me! You don't share any of your ESD account details with them - they just help you get through the phone system to an actual agent. Then you talk directly with ESD. Was worth it for me since I'd already wasted hours trying to get through on my own.

Just wanted to add - if you updated your direct deposit info after your claim was already in processing status, there's a chance your first payment might still try to go to the old account. If your old account is closed, the bank will reject the deposit and ESD will need to reissue it. This can add 5-7 business days to getting your payment. If you're in a rush, you might want to call ESD to see if they can intercept the payment before it processes.

•That's a good point. My claim status says "processing" so I'm going to try calling tomorrow. Better safe than sorry!

back in 2021 i had same problem but i couldnt figure out how to change my bank stuff online so i just switched my payment to the ESD debit card option. was super easy and then i could just transfer the money from the card to my new bank. might be a backup option if ur worried about the timing issue

•That's a smart backup plan! I think I've got it fixed now, but if there's any issue with the direct deposit, I'll definitely switch to the debit card option. Thanks for the suggestion!
