ESD website preventing weekly claim filing - system glitch this week?

Is anyone else dealing with technical problems filing their weekly claim right now? My husband has been on UI since January and filed last week's claim just fine, but the system won't let him submit this week's claim at all! When he clicks 'file weekly claim' it either freezes or gives him an error message saying 'unable to process your request at this time.' We've tried on both our laptop and his phone, cleared cache, even tried at different times throughout the day. This is really stressing us out because if he misses filing this week, I'm worried his claim will get messed up or delayed. Has ESD announced any system maintenance? Is there a workaround to file when the website is acting up like this? Any help would be appreciated!

Same here!!! Been trying since Sunday morning and keep getting error messages. So frustrating!!

Ugh, sorry you're dealing with it too but kind of relieved it's not just us. Have you tried calling their customer service line?

I just checked ESD's Twitter account and they posted about emergency maintenance on their claims system yesterday. Apparently it should be back up by 5pm today. If your husband still can't file after that, he should call them first thing tomorrow morning to explain the technical issue prevented timely filing.

Thank you! I didn't even think to check their social media. We'll try again after 5pm today.

This happens a couple times a year. If the system is down during your filing window, ESD has a policy that they won't penalize you for late filing if it's due to their system issues. Make sure your husband documents his attempts to file (screenshots of error messages if possible) and call them as soon as the system is back up to explain what happened. The important thing is that he doesn't wait too long - he should still try to file as soon as the system allows, even if it's technically late.

Great advice about the screenshots - I'll have him do that on his next attempt. I didn't realize they had specific policies for when their system goes down. That's reassuring!

i had this same issue back in december. couldn't file for almost 3 days!! ended up calling and the rep told me they were having database issues. they let me file over the phone once i finally got thru to someone.

I'm glad they let you file by phone! That's good to know as a backup option.

When ESD's website has technical issues, calling is usually the fastest solution. However, getting through to an agent can be nearly impossible with their call volumes. I had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when I was dealing with a similar issue. They have a system that helps you get through the ESD phone queue much faster. I was skeptical at first but their video demo (https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3) shows exactly how it works. Saved me hours of redial frustration.

Thanks for the suggestion! If we can't get through tomorrow I'll definitely check out that service. My husband can't afford to miss this payment and waiting on hold for hours isn't really an option with his work schedule.

Just want to clarify something important - even if the system is down, your husband has until the end of the NEXT week to file without his claim being closed. ESD allows filing for the previous week up to 7 days late before it becomes a problem. So while it's best to file as soon as the system is working again, he doesn't need to panic about his claim being cancelled if it takes an extra day or two to get resolved. What you DON'T want to do is skip filing altogether, as that could interrupt his claim status. But a technical delay of a few days won't result in claim closure as long as he completes the filing before the next weekly cycle ends.

This isn't exactly right. If you miss a week completely, your claim doesn't close - you just don't get paid for that week. Your claim stays open for a year from when you first applied. What does happen is if you don't file for 4 weeks in a row, then you have to reopen your claim. But missing one week because of technical issues won't require reopening anything.

UPDATE: He was able to file successfully! The system is working again. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. For anyone else having this issue, definitely check ESD's social media for system status updates, and if all else fails, calling them (possibly with help getting through their phone system) is the way to go.

Great news! Glad it worked out. One more tip - I always take screenshots after submitting my weekly claims showing the confirmation page. It's saved me from stress a couple times when there were questions later about whether I had filed on time.
