ESD website immediately logs me out + disqualified claim with no explanation letter

Is anyone else getting kicked out of the ESD website right after logging in? This started 4 days ago and it's driving me insane! Every time I log in through SecureAccess Washington, within seconds it boots me out. I've tried different browsers, clearing cookies, even my husband's laptop - same problem. To make matters worse, I just discovered my claim shows as 'disqualified' but I never received ANY notification explaining why. No letter, no email, nothing in my online inbox. My employer confirmed they approved my claim and didn't contest it, so I'm completely confused. I've been trying to call the ESD helpline for days but can't get through - always 'all circuits are busy' or disconnects after 20 minutes on hold. Even contacted Governor Inslee's office but they said they can't help with disqualified claims. I sent a message through the portal almost 3 weeks ago with zero response. Any suggestions on fixing either the timeout issue or finding out why I'm suddenly disqualified? My rent is due next week and I'm getting desperate!

The same timeout thing happened to me! Turns out I needed to update my browser. Try using Microsoft Edge or Firefox instead of Chrome if that's what you're using. For the disqualification, you should've definitely gotten a letter. Sometimes they mail it instead of sending it electronically, so check your mailbox carefully. Mine got mixed in with junk mail once and I almost threw it away.

Thanks for the browser tip - I was using Chrome! I'll try Edge right now. And yeah, I've been checking my mail obsessively. Nothing from ESD at all in the past month except my monetary determination letter which was fine. So weird they'd disqualify without telling me why.

The timeout issue is widespread right now. ESD is doing system updates through June 15, 2025. They posted about it on their maintenance page but didn't make it very visible. For your disqualification, there are several possible reasons: 1. Identity verification issues 2. Work search requirements not met 3. Availability questions on weekly claims 4. Separation issue with employer (even if they didn't contest) You need to speak with an ESD agent directly. Try calling at exactly 7:59am - right before they open. Keep redialing if necessary. Request a formal determination letter if you haven't received one, as you'll need this to file an appeal. You have 30 days from the disqualification date to appeal.

Thank you so much for this detailed info! I had no idea about the system updates. That explains the timeout. I've been doing all my work searches (3+ per week) and answering availability questions correctly. Maybe it's an ID verification thing? I'll try the 7:59am call trick tomorrow morning.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM HERE!! Been trying for a week to log in and keeps timing out. Called SAW help desk 9 times and they just say "high call volume" and hang up! ESD is THE WORST. I bet they're doing this on purpose to reduce claims. For your disqualification - did you miss answering any weekly claim questions? They disqualified me once because I accidentally clicked "no" on being available for work. Had to appeal and took 8 WEEKS to get paid!!!!

Oh no, 8 weeks is a nightmare! I've double-checked all my weekly claims and I'm pretty sure I answered everything correctly. I've been super careful about the availability questions since I've heard horror stories about that. This is so frustrating when you can't even talk to anyone to figure out what's wrong!

i had thesame thing happen to me but it was because i forgot to do my job search activities for 2 weeks. they don't always send the letters right away mine took like 3 weeks to come after i was already disqualified. check your address on file is correct

I've been religious about doing my job searches every week, so I don't think that's it. Good point about the address though - I'll double check that's correct in the system. Maybe the letter got sent to my old apartment.

After dealing with ESD for years (unfortunately), I can tell you the timeout issue is definitely their system maintenance - it should be resolved by next week according to their schedule. For the disqualification without notice, this happens more often than it should. Most likely causes: 1. Identity verification flags in their system 2. Ex-employer provided late information 3. System glitch (yes, this happens) You absolutely need to talk to a claims specialist, not just the frontline reps. I had a similar situation last year and discovered it was because my identity verification documents hadn't been processed even though I'd submitted them. I finally got through to ESD using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they basically call ESD for you and connect you when they get through. Saved me days of redial hell. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 When you do get through, specifically ask for a copy of your determination letter to be resent AND ask them to check your identity verification status. Also get the exact date of disqualification so you know your appeal deadline.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I was wondering if it might be an identity verification thing since I received a letter about uploading documents a while back, which I did, but never got confirmation they were accepted. I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'd try anything to get through to an actual person.

When you say disqualified, is it just one week or your entire claim? Big difference. If it's just one week, probably missed job search or availability question. If entire claim disqualified, could be employer dispute despite what they told you (they sometimes say different things to ESD than to employees) or identity issues.

It says disqualified for the whole claim - the status changed from "pending" to "disqualified" but with no explanation. My previous payments all say "paid" but nothing since the status change. You make a good point about my employer - maybe they said something different to ESD. Would be nice if someone would actually tell me what's happening!!

I had the log out issue too, but it's working today! Try again and see if they fixed it. For the disqualification, you need to call right at 8:00am, and KEEP CALLING. It's frustrating, but I finally got through after 36 calls (yes, I counted). Ask them to email you the determination letter immediately while on the phone. If they can't resolve it during the call, request to be transferred to a claims specialist or adjudicator. There should be an appeal option somewhere in your eServices account too - look for it and file an appeal even without the letter. The appeal deadline is strict, so don't wait for the letter if you can't get it quickly. Just explain in your appeal that you never received notification of the reason for disqualification. Good luck! The system is maddening but don't give up.

Thank you! I just checked and I'm still getting the timeout issue, but I'll keep trying. 36 calls - wow! I've probably done at least that many over the past week with no luck. I'll look for the appeal option in eServices, great tip about filing even without the letter!

Happy to help! The appeal option should be under something like "Decisions" or "Determinations" in your account, though the timeout issue might make it hard to find. If you can't access it online, you can also mail a written appeal to the address on the ESD website. Just include your claim ID, name, last 4 of SSN, and a simple statement that you're appealing the disqualification decision that you received no notification about.

my cousins friend works at esd and she said they're having MAJOR computer problems this month. like their whole system is being updated or something. that's probably why your getting kicked out AND why your claim shows wrong info. id wait til next week before panicking maybe

Thanks for the insider info! That's actually a bit reassuring. Maybe the disqualification is just a glitch from their system issues. I'll keep trying to reach someone but won't completely panic yet.

I just got off the phone with ESD (used that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier - got through in about 20 minutes instead of days of calling). The rep confirmed they're having serious system issues right now that are affecting both the timeout problems AND claim statuses showing incorrectly for some people. The rep suggested taking screenshots of any error messages, and if your claim status suddenly changed without notification, they recommended checking again in 3-5 business days once their system update is complete. However, they also said if you're approaching the 30-day appeal window, you should file an appeal anyway just to protect your rights. Thought I'd share this update since it might help others with similar issues!

Thank you SO MUCH for reporting back with this info! That actually makes me feel a lot better. I just took screenshots of the disqualification status. Still couldn't get in today without timing out, but I'll keep trying periodically. If I still can't access anything by Monday, I'll try that Claimyr service. Thanks again!!
