ESD website login loop driving us crazy - need to apply for benefits ASAP!

I'm at my wit's end trying to help my husband file for unemployment! He's been stuck in this nightmare login loop on the ESD website for over a week now. Every time he enters his credentials on the SecureAccess Washington page, it seems to accept them, but then after a few seconds it just kicks him back to the login screen again. We've tried EVERYTHING - resetting passwords multiple times, creating a brand new SAW account, using different browsers, clearing cache & cookies, even tried on my laptop instead of his. Nothing works! The login page just keeps looping him back. To make matters worse, we've been trying to call ESD for the past 3 days straight, but all we get is that automated message about 'high call volume' and then it hangs up on us! He really needs to file his claim this week since his last day was Friday and our savings won't last long. Is there any other way to apply besides the website or phone? Does ESD have a technical support email? Can you apply in person somewhere? Anyone dealt with this login loop problem before? I'm desperate for any advice!

I had the EXACT same problem last month! It's so frustrating! The login loop happened because my browser was blocking cookies or something. Try these steps that worked for me: 1. Use Chrome or Edge (not Firefox) 2. Clear ALL browser history and cookies 3. Turn off any ad blockers or VPN 4. When you get to the SAW login page, make sure to UNCHECK the "remember this device" option 5. Log in with caps lock off (sounds stupid but I was hitting it accidentally) The 4th step was what finally fixed it for me. For some reason, that "remember this device" feature breaks things.

Thank you SO MUCH for these tips! We're going to try them right now. I never thought about unchecking that "remember this device" box - that could definitely be the issue. We've been using Chrome but with adblock on, so we'll disable that too. Really hope this works because we're getting desperate!

The ESD website has been especially glitchy since they did that system update in January. If you still can't get in after trying what @profile5 suggested, there are two other options: 1. You can apply by paper form, but it takes much longer to process. You can download the application here: https://esd.wa.gov/unemployment/print-application (you'll need to mail it in) 2. There are WorkSource offices where you can use their computers which sometimes work better with the ESD system. Find locations here: https://worksourcewa.com/microsite/content.aspx?appid=MGSWAOFFLOC&pagetype=simple&seo=officelocator But honestly, getting through on the phone is still your best bet for a quick resolution. The paper application can take 3-4 weeks instead of the usual 1-2 weeks for online applications.

Thanks for the alternative options! 3-4 weeks for processing a paper application would put us in a really tight spot financially... I didn't know about using WorkSource computers though, that's helpful to know. We'll keep that as a backup plan if we can't fix the login issue.

We haven't tried his phone yet, that's a good idea! And incognito mode is smart too. Will give both a try, thanks!

The ESD system is DESIGNED to be frustrating!!! They make it hard to apply so fewer people get benefits. I spent THREE WEEKS trying to get through last year. They don't care about us regular people at all. The whole system is rigged against workers!

While I understand your frustration, the system isn't deliberately designed to block claims. The ESD website has technical limitations and their call center is understaffed for the volume they handle. Remember that over 1.3 million claims were filed during peak periods in recent years, which stressed their infrastructure. They've made improvements, but technical issues persist. It's not perfect, but there are dedicated public servants trying to process claims as efficiently as possible.

Try using Claimyr to get through to ESD on the phone. I was in the same boat, couldn't log in and couldn't get through on the phone for days. Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 25 minutes who fixed my account issues right away. You can check out how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and the website is claimyr.com The agent was able to reset something on their end that fixed my login loop issues. They said it's a pretty common problem when the system gets overloaded. Worth a try if you're desperate!

I've never heard of Claimyr before! Just watched the video - that actually looks really helpful. At this point, I'm willing to try anything if it means getting this resolved. Going in circles for a week has been so stressful. I'll check out the website, thanks for the tip!

does it actuly work tho? i tryed calling like 50 times last year and nuthin

@profile7 It worked for me! The difference is they have some system that waits on hold for you and calls you when they get an agent. Saved me hours of redial hell.

I work as a navigator helping people with unemployment issues. The login loop problem has been affecting quite a few claimants recently, especially after the latest SAW integration update. Here are the steps I recommend: 1. First, try the browser solutions mentioned above - particularly unchecking "remember this device" 2. If that doesn't work, you may have an identity verification flag on the account that's causing the loop. This happens when: - Multiple login attempts were made from different IP addresses - Your husband's identity needs additional verification - There's a mismatch between information on the SAW account and ESD records 3. For this type of technical issue, you'll need to speak with an ESD agent directly. They can check if there's a verification hold and resolve it immediately. As a last resort, you can send a secure message through the SAW portal (even if you can't access the ESD part). Go to secure.esd.wa.gov/home/, log in to SAW, and send a message describing the issue. Include name, last 4 of SSN, and contact info. It can take 3-5 business days for a response, though.

Thank you for such detailed help! You might be onto something with the identity verification issue. My husband did try logging in from both home and work, and I tried on my laptop too. We'll try sending that secure message through the SAW portal as well. Really appreciate the expert advice!

UPDATE: IT WORKED!!! We unchecked the "remember this device" option on the SAW login page and it finally let him in!!! He was able to file his initial claim just now. Thank you all SO MUCH for your help, especially @profile5 for suggesting that specific fix. We would have never figured that out on our own! For anyone else having this same problem - definitely try unchecking that box. Such a small thing but it made all the difference.

Yay!! So glad it worked! It's crazy how such a tiny checkbox can cause so much trouble. Make sure he bookmarks the direct login page for next time too.

Great news! Thanks for updating us. For future reference, when doing weekly claims, always save a screenshot of your confirmation number just in case there are any issues down the road. It will save a lot of headaches if you ever need to prove you filed on time.
