ESD payment showing as paid in eServices but not appearing in Chime account after 3 days
I'm seriously freaking out because ESD shows they paid me for 3 weeks of benefits on Saturday (about $3,800 total), but it's Monday morning and absolutely nothing has shown up in my Chime account yet! This is the first time I've had this happen and I really need that money for bills due today. When I checked my eServices account, it definitely says 'paid' with Saturday's date, not 'pending' or anything. I tried calling Chime but just got their stupid automated system, and of course ESD lines are constantly busy. Has anyone who uses Chime had delays getting their unemployment deposits? Is there anything I can do besides just waiting? I'm worried something went wrong with the payment information.

•But I've been getting my payments within 24 hours for the past 2 months, even on weekends. That's why I'm worried something changed or went wrong this time.

I use Chime with my unemployment and this happens occasionally. The payment will typically show up the next business day. Since ESD processed it on Saturday, I'd expect it to hit your Chime account by Tuesday morning at the latest. If it doesn't arrive by Wednesday, then you might want to contact ESD to verify the payment details. One thing to check: make sure your bank information didn't accidentally change in your eServices profile. Sometimes a random system update can affect your payment method.

•Thank you! This is reassuring. I did double-check my bank info and it's all correct. I'll try to be patient until Wednesday morning before panicking more.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE LAST MONTH!!! ESD said paid but Chime didn't show anything for like 4 DAYS!!! I was about to lose my mind but then it suddenly appeared. Chime is TERRIBLE about showing pending deposits - they just appear when they appear. Other banks at least show you when something is coming. Don't trust their stupid app notifications either - mine came through without any notification whatsoever.

•This is why I switched from Chime to a credit union. Got tired of the deposit inconsistency and their terrible customer service.

There's been a recent issue between ESD and some online banks like Chime and Varo. The ACH transfers are taking longer than usual because of a processing change ESD made in early 2025. While your payment should arrive eventually, if you need to actually speak with an ESD agent to confirm the payment details, you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com). I used their service last month when my payment was stuck in limbo for a week. Their system got me through to a live ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to confirm exactly when my payment would arrive and what had caused the delay.

•i tried claimyr when i was in adjudication and it worked but they cant really speed up a bank transfer if its already been sent by ESD... thats on the bank side now

•That's true, but speaking with ESD can at least confirm if the payment was actually sent correctly and to the right account. In my case, there was a routing issue they were able to fix, which was causing the delay. Without calling, I would have just been waiting indefinitely.

This happened to me twice!!! The first time I panicked and spent hours trying to reach someone. The second time I just waited and sure enough it showed up on Tuesday morning. Chime is weird with government deposits sometimes. My regular paychecks from work always post early but unemployment is always delayed by a day or two compared to when ESD says it was paid.

•This makes me feel better. I'll give it until tomorrow morning before I completely lose it. It's just stressful because I've got rent due today and I was counting on this money being available.

just wanted to say, dont forget that monday is a banking day but a lot of times it takes a full banking day to process. so tuesday is most likely. i wouldnt worry yet. also, sometimes esd shows paid but its actually pending in their system for 24 hrs before the money moves. their system is SO OLD lol

•UPDATE: You guys were right! The money just hit my account about an hour ago (Tuesday morning). Guess I panicked for nothing, but with bills due it was stressful. Thanks for all the reassurance!

So glad it worked out for you! This is actually a really common issue with Chime and other online banks when it comes to government payments. The delays can be super stressful when you're depending on that money. For future reference, I've noticed that ESD payments to Chime usually take 1-2 business days longer than they show as "paid" in eServices, especially when the payment is processed on weekends. It's frustrating but seems to be the norm with their system. Hope your bills got taken care of!

•This is really helpful info to know! I'm new to using Chime for unemployment and had no idea about the typical delays. I'll definitely keep this in mind for future payments so I don't stress out unnecessarily. It's good to know this is normal and not something going wrong with my account.

I've been using Chime for unemployment for about 8 months now and this delay pattern is super consistent. ESD processes on their end (shows as "paid") but the actual ACH transfer to Chime takes an extra 1-3 business days depending on when it's initiated. I've learned to mentally add 2 days to whatever date ESD shows to avoid the stress. It's annoying but at least it's predictable once you know the pattern. Glad your money came through!

•Thanks for sharing this insight! I'm pretty new to unemployment benefits and using Chime, so I had no idea there was such a consistent delay pattern. It's actually really reassuring to know that this 1-3 day delay is normal and predictable rather than something being wrong with the system. I'll definitely keep this timeline in mind for future payments - adding 2 extra days mentally sounds like a smart approach to avoid unnecessary panic. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here!

This thread has been so helpful! I'm also using Chime for unemployment and had a similar scare last week when my payment showed "paid" on Friday but didn't appear until Tuesday. I actually called both ESD and Chime multiple times before finding this community and learning it's totally normal. The stress is real when you're counting on that money! For anyone else going through this - it seems like the weekend processing delay plus Chime's ACH timing just creates this perfect storm of anxiety. But based on everyone's experiences here, the money does eventually show up, just with that extra 1-3 day buffer. Thanks for sharing your update too @Amara - it's always good to hear these stories have happy endings!
