ESD payment processing timeline - got 5 backpayments but 6th shows 'processing'
FINALLY some good news! After 6 weeks in limbo my claim was just approved this morning. I woke up to 6 payment notifications in my account! First one shows as my waiting week, then I got 4 weeks of regular payments (they all show as paid), and the 6th payment is from this Sunday but it's still sitting in 'processing' status. Anyone know how long it normally takes for that last payment to clear if I filed my weekly claim online? I'm just paranoid something will go wrong again after waiting so long for everything else to get approved. Can I expect it tomorrow or does it usually take longer? Getting anxious about paying rent next week!

Congrats on getting approved! For online claims, the 'processing' status typically clears overnight and you should see the deposit in your bank account within 1-2 business days after it moves to 'paid' status. Sunday claims usually process by Monday night or Tuesday morning at the latest. If you filed on Sunday and it's still processing beyond Wednesday, that might indicate an issue requiring attention.

Thank you! That's reassuring. I'll give it until Thursday morning before I start worrying again. Just seems weird that the other 5 payments all went through at once but this one is lagging behind.

The last payment is probably delayed because it's your most recent claim week. The system processes backpay differently than current week claims. If you filed this Sunday, the \

ESD doesn't pay interest on delayed unemployment benefits, unfortunately. The system isn't designed that way, even when the delay is on their end. The only exception would be if you win an appeal and are awarded benefits that were wrongfully denied - but even then, you just get the original benefit amount, not interest.

thats such BS!!! if we're late on ANYTHING we get penalized but they can just take their sweet time 😤

Just checking back - did your payment clear? Sunday claims should definitely be processed by now if there aren't any issues.

Yes!! It finally changed from 'processing' to 'paid' yesterday afternoon and the money hit my account this morning. Looks like it just needed an extra day compared to the backpay. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance!

Can I ask what your claim was stuck on for those 6 weeks? Mine's been in adjudication for almost 5 weeks now and I'm losing my mind. Did you do anything special to get it moving?

Mine was stuck in adjudication too! They were verifying my reason for separation since my employer contested it initially. I called about 20 times over those 6 weeks but only got through twice. Second time I spoke with someone who actually escalated it properly and it was resolved within 3 days after that. Persistence was key in my case. Good luck with yours!
