Backfiled 4 weekly ESD claims all at once - when will payments arrive?
So I completely messed up and forgot to file my weekly claims for a whole month (ugh, life got crazy with a family emergency). This Monday I finally logged in and backfiled all four weeks at once. I've been anxiously checking my account, and this morning it finally shows 'paid' status for all four weeks! Does anyone know if all four payments will hit my account together? And more importantly - will they come through today or is there still going to be a waiting period until next week? Really stressing about rent due on the 1st and need to know if I should make other arrangements.

If your ESD account already shows 'paid' status, you should receive the funds within 24-48 hours, depending on your payment method. Direct deposit generally processes faster (often same or next business day) than debit cards or paper checks. All four payments typically arrive together as a single lump sum deposit, not as separate transactions. The system basically batches them together since you filed them at the same time.

•Thank you! That's such a relief - I have direct deposit set up, so hopefully it'll show up tomorrow. Really appreciate the quick response.

•This happened to me too!! Did you end up winning your appeal? I'm waiting for my hearing date right now and freaking out about what counts as 'good cause' - was in the hospital for 3 days and then was too medicated to remember to file. They're being so strict about it!

Just a heads-up - if you see 'paid' status in the morning, funds almost always arrive overnight. I've been on unemployment twice in the past 3 years, and the standard pattern is: status changes to 'paid' → funds deposited overnight → available in your account next morning. Also, you were actually pretty lucky. ESD has gotten a lot stricter about backdating weekly claims. Their official policy states you should file within the 7-day window, but they often allow backdating up to 4 weeks with an acceptable reason. Beyond that, you typically need to go through appeals. Did they ask you for any explanation during the backfiling process?

•Yeah, there was a questionnaire where I had to explain why I missed filing. I had a legitimate reason (my mom was hospitalized) so maybe that's why they processed it without issues. Definitely won't let this happen again though!

If you're ever having trouble getting through to ESD to check on delayed payments or other issues, try using Claimyr. I was struggling for weeks to reach someone about a payment issue similar to yours and was getting nowhere. Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Their website is claimyr.com - definitely worth checking out if you need to talk to someone at ESD quickly.

•Does this actually work? I've been trying to reach ESD for like 2 weeks about an adjudication issue and keep getting disconnected after waiting on hold for an hour+

•It worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after spending 3 days trying to get through on my own, I gave it a try. Got connected to an agent who fixed my issue in about 10 minutes once I actually got to talk to them.

One more thing I should mention - make sure you continue filing your weekly claims on time going forward. When claimants have a pattern of late or missed filings, ESD sometimes flags the account for additional review, which can cause delays with future payments. It's best to set a recurring reminder in your phone to file your weekly claim as soon as the week ends (Sunday after 12:01am or anytime Monday).

•Definitely! I've set up calendar alerts and reminders on my phone now. Don't want to deal with this stress again.

I'm curious - did anyone contact you about your missed weeks? I'm in a similar situation where I missed filing for 3 weeks (totally my fault, I got a temporary gig and thought I wouldn't qualify, then found out I still could claim partial benefits). I'm scared to backfile them all at once because I've heard horror stories about people getting their claims flagged for fraud review. Did they put you through extra verification or anything?

•They didn't contact me personally, but there was an additional questionnaire I had to fill out explaining why I missed the filing deadline for each week. I just answered honestly about what happened. No extra ID verification or anything, but your situation might be different since you were working part-time. Might be worth calling them first?

•Part-time work is definitely something you want to be careful with. You need to report all earnings for the week in which you EARNED them (not when you got paid). If you backfile now and report those earnings, it might trigger a review. But not reporting them would be much worse and could lead to an overpayment notice later. My suggestion is to call ESD first and explain the situation before backfiling.

•YES! All four payments hit my account this morning as one lump sum! Just under 48 hours after the status changed to 'paid' in the ESD system. Such a relief!
