PA UC payment date missing after claiming for week I didn't work - will I still get paid?
I'm really confused about my unemployment benefits right now. Last week I had an unexpected opportunity to work for a few days, so I filed my weekly claim and reported those work hours because I didn't want to get in trouble for not reporting income. But now this week when I filed my regular claim, there's no payment date showing up in my portal. I usually see a payment date the very next day after filing, so I'm getting worried. Does reporting work for one week mess up my future payments? Will I still get paid for this current week where I didn't work at all? This is only my third month on unemployment and I'm stressing about rent. Any help would be really appreciated!

Reporting work for one week shouldn't affect your future payments as long as you properly reported everything. When you reported the work last week, did you enter your gross earnings? Also, did you answer 'yes' to the question about whether you worked or earned wages? If your earnings exceeded your weekly benefit amount last week, you wouldn't receive a payment for that specific week, but it shouldn't affect this week's payment unless there's another issue.

•Yes, I reported everything correctly last week. I answered 'yes' to the work question and entered all my earnings (it was about $520 for 3 days of work). My weekly benefit amount is $468 so I guess that's why I didn't get paid for last week, which is fine. But I'm worried about why this week's payment isn't showing up yet when I didn't work at all...

•Thanks for the reassurance! I'll try to be patient and check again tomorrow. Just makes me nervous when things don't follow the normal pattern.

This is actually a common situation. When you report earnings that exceed your weekly benefit amount, the system sometimes flags your account for review before processing the next payment. It's not necessarily a problem, but rather a verification step. In PA UC terms, this is called an "earnings verification" and it can cause a 1-3 day delay in your next payment. If you don't see a payment date by the end of this week, then you should try to contact them. Your claim is still active as long as you keep filing weekly.

•EXACTLY THIS!! The system is DESIGNED to put these little delays in place to catch people who might be trying to game the system (not saying you are). I had the SAME EXACT THING happen when I picked up a weekend shift at my old job and then went back to claiming. Suddenly my next payment was delayed by 3 days!! They never tell you about these "verification" processes until you're caught in one. So frustrating!!!

I had almost this identical situation in February. I reported some freelance work for one week (over my benefit amount), then went back to regular claiming the next week. My payment was delayed by about 3-4 days, but it eventually came through without me having to do anything. The system seems to do some kind of automatic review when your earnings pattern changes. If you don't see movement by Thursday, you might want to try reaching out to a PA UC representative. I've had good luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through on the phone lines - they have a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and connects you with an actual human. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Hope this helps and that your payment shows up soon!

•That's exactly my situation, so that's reassuring! I'll give it until Thursday before I panic. And thanks for the Claimyr tip - those busy signals are the worst. I'll check out that video if I need to call.

•No, I just started my claim in January 2025, so I should have plenty of time left in my benefit year. That's why I'm confused about the delay.

Just checking back - has your payment date shown up yet? If it's been more than 3 business days since you filed and still no payment date, you might want to check if there's an "open issue" on your claim. You can see this in your claim status section of your dashboard.

•Hey, good news - the payment date finally appeared this morning! It shows payment will be deposited to my Money Network card tomorrow. Looks like it was just a delay like everyone suggested. Thanks for checking back!
