PA UC backpay finally approved - how long for direct deposit to arrive after 'partial check' status?
Just got some good news after the most stressful wait ever! My claim from February 15th was FINALLY approved yesterday after sitting in limbo for over 2 months with that dreaded 'open issue' status. Today I checked my portal and all my backweeks (9 weeks total - ugh) show payment date of today (7/21/2025) with 'partial check' listed as payment type. My account is definitely set up for direct deposit - I triple-checked the banking info in my claim details section. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for the money to actually hit my bank account after showing this status? I've got rent due in 3 days and I'm cutting it close. I've heard some people say 2-3 business days but others said they got it same day? Really anxious about this after such a long wait!

Congrats on finally getting approved! The 'partial check' status just means they've started processing the payment - it doesn't actually mean they're mailing you a paper check if you're set up for direct deposit. In my experience, the funds usually hit my account within 2 business days after the payment date shown in the system. Some banks process them faster than others though. Chase and PNC seem to be pretty quick, sometimes even next day.

•Thank you!! That's such a relief. I have TD Bank so hopefully they're quick too. The terminology is so confusing - why call it 'partial check' if it's direct deposit? The PA UC system really needs better explanations.

NOBODY ACTUALLY KNOWS!!!! I had same thing happen in March and they told me 3 days but took 5!!!! Then next time it took 2 days!!! PA UC system is complete garbage and they just make it all up as they go.

•This isn't entirely accurate. The timing depends on both UC processing AND your bank's policies. The system isn't 'making it up' - it's just that different financial institutions have different processing times for ACH transfers.

I was in your exact same position last month! Waited forever for approval then panicked about when money would arrive. For me it was exactly 48 hours from when the portal updated to when I saw the deposit. Just an FYI - if you have multiple weeks of backpay, they might deposit in 2-3 separate transactions instead of one lump sum. Don't panic if you see partial amounts come through first.

•That's super helpful to know about the multiple deposits! I would have definitely freaked out thinking they shorted me. I'll keep an eye out for separate transactions.

•Same, I waited 4 months and by the time it came through I had already given up. The system is so broken.

If you're still waiting for your funds after 3-4 business days, you might want to try using Claimyr to get through to an actual PA UC agent. I was in a similar situation with delayed payments and couldn't get through on the regular phone line for days. Claimyr got me connected to a rep in about 20 minutes who was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my payment. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It saved me a ton of stress when I needed to know exactly where my money was.

•Thanks for the suggestion. If my payment doesn't show up by Friday I'll definitely check that out. Anything beats calling the regular number and getting busy signals for hours!

The terminology on the PA UC portal is confusing, but here's how it actually works: 1. When your claim is first approved for payment, it shows 'partial check' status. This applies whether you're getting direct deposit or an actual check. 2. For direct deposit, funds are typically released within 24-48 hours of showing this status. 3. Your bank then has its own processing time (usually 24-48 hours depending on the institution). So in total, you're looking at 2-4 business days from the date shown on your portal. If today is 7/21, you should see it in your account by 7/25 at the latest, possibly earlier depending on your bank's processing speed. Also, make sure you file your weekly certification claims while waiting for these payments to process! Many people forget to continue certifying during the waiting period.

•This is SO helpful - thank you for breaking it down step by step! And thanks for the reminder about continuing to certify. I've been doing that religiously every Sunday even when it seemed hopeless.

my experience with TD Bank and PA UC deposits is that they usually hit around 3am the day after they show as processed in the system. so if it says 7/21 payment date you'll prob see it 7/22 early morning. good luck!

•Whoa, I specifically said 'TD Bank' because OP mentioned that's their bank. Obviously different financial institutions process ACH transfers differently.

UPDATE: The funds hit my account this morning at 2:37am! So for anyone searching this in the future - for TD Bank it took about 26 hours from when the portal showed 'partial check' to when the money actually appeared in my account. Such a relief after the long wait for approval. Thank you everyone for your help and information!
