PA UC finally approved - how long does direct deposit take for 7 weeks backpay?

Finally some good news after dealing with PA unemployment for what feels like forever! I just got approved today after being stuck in limbo for almost 2 months. My claim shows I'm owed backpay for 7 weeks (!!!), with a payment date of 2/2. Has anyone received their direct deposit recently? How long did it actually take to hit your account after seeing the payment date? I'm seriously down to my last $40 and have rent due next week, so I'm anxiously checking my bank account every 20 minutes. Any experiences or insight would be super helpful right now!

For me it was exactly 2 business days after the payment date shown in the system. So if your payment date is 2/2 and that's a weekday, you should see it by 2/4. Sometimes it can process overnight and you'll see it the next day. Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in the system!

Thanks for the quick response! That's a huge relief. I triple-checked my direct deposit info when I filed so that should be good. Just hoping the bank doesn't hold it for any reason since it's a larger amount than I normally get deposited.

DON'T COUNT ON EXACT TIMEFRAMES!!! The system said my payment date was 1/15 but I didn't get ANYTHING until 1/21!!! PA UC is COMPLETELY unreliable and they won't tell you if there's any hold-up. Keep calling them every day until you see the $$$. They probably "forgot" to process something!!

My experience might help - I received approval for 5 weeks of backpay on January 13th with a payment date of January 15th. The money appeared in my checking account on January 17th (a Friday). Most banks will process direct deposits on business days only, and some smaller banks/credit unions can take an extra day. One thing to be aware of: if this is your first payment, it sometimes takes one additional business day to process compared to regular weekly payments. Also, check your bank's policy on large deposits - some banks place holds on unusually large deposits, though this usually applies to checks rather than direct deposits. Hope this helps and congratulations on getting approved!

This is really helpful info, thank you! It is my first payment, so that's good to know it might take an extra day. Fingers crossed it comes through soon!

I got approved for backpay last month but then ended up having to call because there was some kind of payment issue they didn't tell me about. They fixed it right away once I got through but it was impossible to get someone on the phone. Busy signals for days!

If you need to get through to PA UC quickly, I used Claimyr last month when I was in a similar situation - they got me through to an agent in about 25 minutes after I spent three days trying on my own. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. You can check them out at claimyr.com. Definitely worth it when you're waiting on backpay and need to talk to someone.

According to the PA UC guidelines, direct deposits are typically processed within 2-3 business days after the payment date shown in your portal. However, first-time payments sometimes require an additional verification step that can add 1-2 business days to the process. If your payment doesn't appear within 5 business days of the listed payment date, I recommend contacting the UC service center. They can verify that your payment was processed correctly and that there aren't any holds on your account. Also, make sure you continue filing your weekly claims during this waiting period so there's no interruption in your benefits going forward.

Thank you for the detailed info! Just filed my weekly claim yesterday so I'm staying on top of that part at least. I'll give it until next Monday before I start trying to contact them. Hoping it comes through before then!

Update: It just hit my account this morning! So that was about 3 business days after the payment date showed up in the system. Such a relief!
