PA UC claim APPROVED after 6 weeks - when will direct deposit hit my bank account?
FINALLY got some good news this morning! After filing my initial PA unemployment claim on January 3rd and submitting my weekly claims religiously since then, I just logged in and saw my claim was APPROVED! Such a relief after waiting 6 weeks with no income. I selected direct deposit when I first applied, but I'm wondering how long it typically takes for the money to actually show up in my bank account? Will I get all 6 weeks of backpay at once? This is my first time on unemployment and I've got rent due next week, so I'm hoping it processes quickly. Anyone know the typical timeline from approval to deposit?

Congrats on getting approved! PA UC payments by direct deposit usually hit your bank account within 2-3 business days after the approval date. Since you've been filing weekly claims all along, you should receive all your backpay in one lump sum deposit. Make sure your bank account info is correctly entered in the system to avoid any delays. You can double-check this under the "Payment Information" section of your dashboard.

•Thanks for the quick response! That's a huge relief. I just checked and my bank info looks correct. Do business days include Saturdays? I got the approval email this morning (Friday), so wondering if I might see it by Monday or Tuesday?

It's definitely a relief to finally get approved! For direct deposit timing, here's what typically happens: 1. Approval date (today for you) 2. Payment processing (1-2 business days) 3. Bank processing (1-2 business days depending on your bank) So realistically, you're looking at 2-4 business days total. Since you got approved on a Friday, you'll likely see the funds by Tuesday or Wednesday next week. And yes, you should receive all backpay at once, which is nice after such a long wait! One thing to watch for - sometimes the first payment comes on a Money Network debit card even if you selected direct deposit. PA UC sometimes does this while verifying your bank details. If that happens, they'll mail you a card, which can take 7-10 days to arrive.

•this is why i chose the debit card instead of direct deposit... too many issues with peoples bank info getting messed up. Card comes loaded each week no hassle

DONT COUNT ON IT COMING QUICKLY!!!! I waited 8 weeks for approval then another 2 weeks for my money! The system is BROKEN. They approved me then put another "open issue" on my claim for no reason. Had to call 57 times to get through to someone who could help. Total nightmare!!!

•Oh no, seriously? That's terrifying. Did they explain why there was another open issue after approval? I really hope that doesn't happen to me.

•That's not the typical experience. Most people receive their funds within 2-4 business days after approval. It sounds like you had a specific issue with your claim that triggered additional review. While delays can happen, they're not the norm once you've received an official approval notification.

I recently went through this same situation and was getting so frustrated with the waiting game. After my claim was approved, I still couldn't get through to anyone to confirm when payment would process. I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an actual PA UC agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days calling and getting busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent confirmed my payment was processing and explained exactly when it would hit my account. Gave me peace of mind since I had bills coming due. Might be worth checking out if you run into any issues with your payment.

•I've never heard of that service before. If my payment doesn't show up by Wednesday, I might give it a try. The peace of mind would be worth it after all this waiting.

So I had a similar situation last month where I waited 7 weeks for approval. Just wanted to share my actual timeline: - Got the approval email on a Thursday - Checked my bank account obsessively for days lol - Money appeared Tuesday morning (so 3 business days) - All 7 weeks paid at once, including the extra $5 for each dependent I claimed But here's something weird - the deposit showed as "PA TREAS UC" not "unemployment" so I almost missed it! Just a heads up to check for that name on your transaction list. Also make sure your work search requirements are still being met each week while you wait for the money. They can stop future payments if you miss logging those activities.

•That's super helpful! I'll keep an eye out for "PA TREAS UC" - would have never known to look for that. And thanks for the reminder about work search activities. I've been doing those religiously every week but wasn't sure if I should keep recording them after approval. Sounds like I definitely should!

One more important thing to keep in mind - now that your claim is approved, you still need to file your weekly certification claims on time. Some people think once they're approved they automatically get paid, but you have to keep filing every week. Your next filing day should still be on your regular schedule (Sunday-Friday depending on your Social Security Number). Missing a weekly filing can cause delays or gaps in payment.

•Thanks for mentioning this! I file every Sunday based on my SSN. I'll definitely keep doing that without interruption. Do I need to do anything different on this week's filing since I just got approved?

•No changes needed to your weekly filing process. Just continue exactly as you have been. The system now knows you're approved, so those weekly certifications will trigger the payments automatically. Just make sure you continue reporting any part-time work or earnings accurately to avoid overpayment issues later.
