ESD payment deposit times changing? Used to be 9am now delayed until noon

Has anyone noticed a change in when ESD deposits weekly benefits? For the past 8 months, my UI payments would reliably hit my account around 9am on Thursdays after filing Wednesday night. Starting last week, my payment didn't show up until after noon, and today I'm still waiting at 10:30am with nothing in my account yet. I'm getting nervous because I have auto-payments scheduled assuming the 9am deposit time. Is ESD running behind on processing claims or did they change their payment schedule? Anyone else experiencing these delayed deposits?

Yes! This has been happening to me too for the past two weeks. My payments used to post between 8:30-9:15am like clockwork, but last Thursday it didn't hit until 1:30pm and I was panicking. I called my bank thinking they were holding it, but they said no deposits had been initiated yet from ESD. I think ESD must have changed their processing schedule or they're dealing with some backlog issues.

Thanks for confirming I'm not the only one! Did you try contacting ESD about it? I'm wondering if it's temporary or a permanent change to their system.

Interesting! I'm with Chase. Maybe it varies by bank? Though it's been consistent for months until now.

You should call your bank about those overdraft fees. Many will waive them once if you explain the situation. Also consider changing your autopay dates to Fridays until ESD gets their deposit schedule straightened out.

This is actually normal variation in the ACH processing system. ESD initiates payments in batches, but the exact timing of when those reach your specific bank can vary based on several factors: 1. Which processing batch your payment was included in 2. Your specific bank's processing schedule 3. Volume of transactions that day 4. Any processing delays at the Federal Reserve ESD hasn't announced any official changes to their payment schedule. These temporary delays of a few hours are normal fluctuations in the system. If your payment is delayed by more than 24 hours from when you normally receive it, then you might want to contact ESD to make sure there wasn't an issue with your weekly claim.

That's really helpful context, thanks! I guess I got too used to the consistency of the 9am deposits. I'll give it until tomorrow before panicking.

This happened to me too, and when I tried calling ESD to ask about it, I couldn't get through - kept getting the "high call volume" message and disconnects. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent. They have this service that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent told me they're having some system maintenance issues that are causing some payment batches to process later in the day, but should return to normal in 1-2 weeks. At least I got an answer instead of stressing all day!

This is likely related to the ESD system upgrade they announced last month. They're transitioning to a new payment processing system that's supposed to be more efficient, but during the transition period, some payment times might fluctuate. I received an email about it, but it didn't specifically mention changes to deposit timing. For anyone experiencing this, I'd recommend adjusting your autopayments to happen a day later than usual, at least until the system stabilizes. Better safe than sorry with overdraft fees.

UPDATE: My payment just posted at 12:45pm. So it seems like the new normal might be early afternoon rather than morning. Definitely adjust your autopayments if you haven't already!

Mine just came through at 1:03pm! Thanks for the update. I'll definitely be rescheduling my autopayments for Fridays from now on.
