ESD lump sum payment after adjudication? Will I get all 6 weeks at once?
I've been stuck in ESD adjudication hell for almost 6 weeks now. Filed my initial claim back in January and have been faithfully submitting my weekly claims, but haven't seen a penny because of some eligibility issue they're investigating. My question is - assuming they finally clear my claim and approve everything, will I get all 6 weeks paid in one big deposit? Or does ESD stagger these backpayments somehow? I'm trying to plan my finances and figure out if I should expect one large payment or if they'll trickle it out week by week. Anyone been through this and know how it works?

Yeah when mine finally cleared last year they dumped it all at once. I was in adjudication for like 8 weeks and got a fat deposit the day after approval. It was actually kinda weird cuz I had forgotten how much it would be lol

•That's a relief to hear! Did you get any kind of notification before the money showed up, or did it just appear in your account?

When adjudication is complete and your claim is approved, ESD typically processes all eligible weeks in a single payment. This is standard procedure for backpayments on claims that were held pending adjudication resolution. You should see all 6 weeks paid together as long as you've completed all weekly certifications correctly. Make sure you've addressed any alerts or messages in your eServices account, as these can delay payment even after adjudication is complete.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I double-check my eServices account daily and have answered all the questions they've asked so far. No pending tasks showing up right now, so hopefully it'll be smooth sailing once adjudication finishes.

•That's not typical. The standard process is a single lump sum payment for all eligible weeks. What you experienced might have been due to some weeks being held for additional verification or there was an issue with some of your weekly claims. If some weeks required additional review, they'd pay the verified ones first while continuing to process others.

I've been through this NIGHTMARE twice now! The first time they paid everything at once after 5 weeks in adjudication. The second time (last month) they split it into TWO payments for some weird reason - got 3 weeks worth on a Tuesday and then the other 4 weeks two days later on Thursday. ESD never explains ANYTHING!!! The system is totally broken and they don't care how long we have to wait for OUR MONEY!

•Same experience here. The inconsistency drives me nuts. My neighbor got all 10 weeks at once but I got mine split into 3 different payments over a week.

Most claimants receive all backpayments in a single deposit once adjudication completes favorably. However, there are some situations where payments might be split: 1. If the total exceeds certain system thresholds (rare but happens) 2. If some weeks are approved but others require additional review 3. If your bank has deposit limits 4. If there were different issues under adjudication with different resolution dates Either way, you should receive all eligible payments within a very short timeframe once adjudication completes. Make sure your payment method is properly set up in eServices to avoid additional delays.

•Thank you for the detailed breakdown! I have direct deposit set up with a major bank, so hopefully there won't be any issues on that end. It's frustrating not knowing how much longer this adjudication will take, but at least I know what to expect payment-wise now.

Have you tried contacting ESD directly to ask about your adjudication status? If you can actually get through to a live agent, they can often tell you exactly what's holding up your claim and sometimes even expedite the process. I was stuck for 7 weeks until I finally got through to someone who resolved it in minutes. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get past the phone system nightmare. Their service got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes after I'd spent weeks unable to get through. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Worth it just to get some actual information about your specific situation rather than guessing.

•I've been trying to get through on the phone for weeks with no luck! I'll check out that service - at this point I just need to talk to someone who can tell me what's going on. Thanks for the recommendation!

•I used that service too after banging my head against the wall for 3 weeks. Got through in like 15 mins. ESD should be ASHAMED they've created a situation where we have to use third-party services just to talk to someone!!

•Good point! I've been really careful with my weekly claims and have confirmation numbers for all of them. Double checked everything each time since I know how picky the system can be.

One more thing to note - when you do receive your payment, check that you received the correct amount. Calculate what you expect based on your weekly benefit amount multiplied by the number of weeks, minus any applicable taxes if you opted for withholding. If there's a discrepancy, contact ESD immediately, as correcting payment errors becomes more complicated the longer you wait.

•That's a great reminder. I'll definitely double-check the math when it comes through. I opted for 10% tax withholding, so I need to account for that in my calculations too.
