Adjudication for 6 weeks, job separation info submitted - how much longer for ESD approval?
I've been stuck in adjudication with ESD for SIX WEEKS already and I'm really starting to stress about bills. They finally sent me a questionnaire about my job separation which I completed and submitted 2 days ago. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for ESD to actually process this and approve my claim after they get my response? The uncertainty is killing me - some weeks of benefits would make a HUGE difference right now. My savings are almost gone and I'm worried about making rent next month if this drags on much longer. This is my first time on unemployment so I have no idea what to expect with these timeframes.

•Thanks for the reply! 2 weeks wouldn't be terrible I guess, but 3 days would be amazing. Did they notify you by email when they made the decision or did you just have to keep checking your account?

The timing can vary significantly depending on your specific separation reason and ESD's current workload. When they requested additional separation information, it's a good sign they're actively working on your claim. After submitting the required details, approval can take anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims during this period - when approved, you'll receive all eligible back payments for those weeks. Check your eServices account daily for new correspondence. They typically don't email about decisions - the determination letter appears in your account first. Also verify your contact information is current in case an adjudicator needs to reach you with follow-up questions.

6 weeks in adjudication is definitely frustrating, but unfortunately not unusual these days. I went through something similar last month. Have you tried calling ESD directly to check on your status? That might give you more specific information than waiting for the online system to update. One thing that helped me get through to an actual person at ESD was using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that holds your place in the phone queue and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me from hours of being on hold! They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my claim and gave me a much clearer timeframe.

•I tried calling a few times but gave up after being on hold for 40+ minutes. I'll check out that Claimyr thing - anything to avoid more hours on hold! Did the agent actually have helpful information when you got through or was it just generic responses?

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!! I waited TEN WEEKS in adjudication last year and nobody could tell me anything useful the entire time. Then they just randomly approved it one day with zero explanation. ESD is a joke and they don't care at all about people suffering while they take their sweet time. Keep filing weekly claims but don't hold your breath for fast answers.

•While I understand your frustration, I don't think ESD is deliberately slow. They're processing thousands of claims with limited staff. I've found that approaching them professionally tends to get better results than coming in frustrated (though that's completely understandable!). To the original poster: The fact that they requested specific separation information and you've provided it promptly is positive. From my experience helping clients navigate the system, this typically means you're near the end of the adjudication process. Continue those weekly claims and consider calling if it goes beyond another week - specifically ask if they need any additional documentation from you to finalize the decision.

After you submit separation info, ESD typically takes 5-10 business days to process it and make a determination on your claim, assuming no other issues are identified during review. If your separation was straightforward (layoff, position elimination, etc.), you'll likely see faster processing than if it involved misconduct allegations or voluntary quit circumstances. Keep in mind that in 2025, ESD is still experiencing higher than normal claim volumes which can impact processing times. Make sure you responded to ALL questions in the separation questionnaire - incomplete information will delay your claim further. If it's been more than 10 business days since submission, I recommend using the secure message feature in eServices to inquire about your status. Be specific about dates in your message - when you applied, when you submitted the separation information, etc. This creates a documented trail of your follow-up efforts.

•This is really helpful, thank you! It was a straightforward layoff (company downsizing), so hopefully that means faster processing. I did answer all the questions thoroughly, so fingers crossed. I'll wait another week before sending a secure message.

•That's actually reassuring to hear! I've been checking my account obsessively anyway. How long did it take from when you submitted your final documentation until it was approved?

UPDATE: Got through to ESD this morning! Used that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier and only had to wait about 20 minutes before speaking to someone. The agent confirmed they received my separation information and said my claim should be processed within 7-10 business days. She also suggested that I check my correspondence tab daily since that's where the decision will first appear. Feeling much better now having an actual timeframe! For anyone else stuck in adjudication limbo, I seriously recommend finding a way to speak directly with an agent rather than just waiting. Makes a huge difference to have actual information.

•Thank you SO much for this update! I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning. Even if they just tell me the same 7-10 day timeframe, at least I'll know they have everything they need and haven't forgotten about my claim. Really appreciate you coming back to share this!
