ESD asking me to reapply during adjudication - What's going on with my claim?
I've been stuck in adjudication for about 5 weeks now and something weird just happened. Today I logged into my ESD account and there's a notification telling me I need to apply for benefits AGAIN! My existing claim is still visible in the system with the 'adjudication in progress' status, but now they want me to submit a whole new application? Is this some kind of system glitch or a normal part of the process? I'm worried if I submit a new application it might mess up my current claim that's already waiting for adjudication. Has anyone else experienced this weird double-application request while their claim is still active?

same thing happened to me last month! i ignored it and my claim went through adjudication fine after 6 wks. think its just a system error tbh

•Really? That's a relief! Did you have to contact them at all to get it resolved or did it just eventually process on its own?

This is often caused by your benefit year ending, even while you're in adjudication. ESD's system automatically generates the reapplication notice when you hit the 52-week mark from your initial claim filing date, regardless of claim status. Check when you first applied - if it's been close to a year, this is normal and you SHOULD reapply. If not, it could be a system glitch, but I wouldn't ignore it without verification.

•It's only been 3 months since I first applied, so it's definitely not the benefit year ending. Do you think I should call to verify before doing anything?

•CALL THEM ASAP!! The same thing happened to me and I ignored it thinking it was a glitch. Ended up delaying my benefits for an extra 8 weeks because they needed additional info that I never provided! The system isn't smart enough to know when to wait and when to move forward, so ALWAYS check with a real person when something seems off!!!

This is definitely something you should call about rather than guessing. There are a few legitimate reasons why this might happen: 1. Your benefit year is ending (but you said it's only been 3 months) 2. There's information missing from your initial application that requires a new submission 3. You've had a significant change in circumstances they're aware of 4. There's a technical issue with your claim I recommend contacting ESD directly to clarify what's going on before starting a new application. The adjudication process is already complex enough without adding potential complications.

•Thank you! I've been trying to get through on the phone for days with no luck. Any tips on reaching a real person?

•I was in the same boat trying to call ESD day after day. Ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an ESD agent in about 25 minutes instead of trying for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Made it so much easier to get my adjudication question answered instead of stressing for weeks not knowing what was happening with my claim.

my cousin works at worksource and she says the new esd computer system sometimes gets confused when too many claims r in adjudication. its probly just a glitch but u should call anyway just to make sure they dont close ur claim by accident

•This is completely incorrect information. The ESD system doesn't 'get confused' by adjudication volume. There are specific reasons why the system would prompt for a new application. People need to stop spreading misinformation about unemployment processes - it only makes things harder for everyone. The OP needs to contact ESD directly, not rely on secondhand anecdotes from someone's cousin.

Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get through to ESD? What did they say about the reapplication request? Others might benefit from knowing the resolution.

•Yes! Finally got through yesterday. Turns out there was a technical issue where my work history verification didn't properly attach to my claim, which triggered the reapplication notice. The agent put a note on my account and told me to ignore the reapplication prompt for now. She said my adjudication is still in process and should be resolved within 2 weeks. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions!
