ESD account keeps saying 'session expired' - urgent deadline Monday!

I'm in major panic mode right now! I logged into my ESD account last week to start my unemployment claim, but now when I try to access it again, I get kicked out immediately with a 'session expired' message. I've triple-checked my username and password (they're definitely correct), but after I successfully log in, it boots me out within seconds. The worst part is I have until THIS Monday (the 14th) to respond to something important on my claim. Originally they gave me until the 18th, but apparently the deadline got moved up and I just found out. I've tried different browsers, clearing cache, even my phone - nothing works! Has anyone experienced this 'session expired' issue with ESD? Any tricks to get back into my account? I'm seriously stressing about missing this deadline.

This is a known issue with the ESD system that happens quite often. Try these steps in this exact order: 1. Clear ALL cookies and cache from your browser 2. Restart your computer completely (not just sleep mode) 3. Use Microsoft Edge or Firefox (Chrome sometimes has compatibility issues) 4. Log in through the SecureAccess Washington portal FIRST, then navigate to ESD 5. Don't use any auto-fill features for your password If that doesn't work, you can also try the mobile app, which sometimes bypasses the session expiration bug. Whatever you do, don't create a new account - that will cause worse problems!

Thank you so much! I'll try these steps right away. I was using Chrome so maybe that's the issue. Do you know if calling ESD directly would help? I'm afraid of not getting through to them before the Monday deadline.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try early morning tomorrow. Did you end up missing any deadlines because of this issue? That's what I'm most worried about.

I've dealt with this exact issue. The session expiration problem is usually related to one of three things: 1. Your SAW account and ESD account have sync issues 2. Your browser has cached an expired authentication token 3. ESD is doing system maintenance (they rarely announce this properly) The fastest solution is usually to use Private/Incognito browsing mode which bypasses most of these issues. Also, if you have any password manager or browser extensions for security, try temporarily disabling them. If you're still facing the deadline problem, immediately take screenshots showing your login attempts failing. These can be used as evidence you tried to respond if they try to penalize you for missing the deadline.

That's super helpful, especially the screenshot suggestion. I didn't think about documenting my attempts! I'll try incognito mode right now and see if that works.

ESD website is garbage!!! Their system is ALWAYS having issues and they make it OUR problem. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved up your deadline just to make it harder on you. The whole system is designed to make people give up. Try calling their tech support number directly: 855-682-0785. That's different from the regular unemployment number and sometimes has shorter wait times.

Thanks for the special tech support number! I didn't know there was a separate line for these kinds of issues. And yeah, the timing of the moved-up deadline feels super suspicious...

When you say they moved the deadline up, did you receive an official notification about this? If not, be careful as the original deadline might still be valid. Sometimes ESD sends confusing communications. About the session expired issue - I worked around it by using a completely different device (my daughter's iPad) and it magically worked. Something about how different devices handle cookies and security. Worth trying if you have access to another computer or tablet.

this is sooo true about the confusing communications!!! they told me I had to do something by the 5th once but then in another letter it said the 15th?? I ended up calling and waiting FOREVER but turned out the later date was right. always keep ALL letters they send u

If you're running into the Monday deadline and still can't access your account, I'd strongly recommend using Claimyr to get through to an actual ESD agent quickly. I was facing a similar situation with a deadline and couldn't get through on the regular phone lines. Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own. They have a video that explains how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to process my response over the phone and note in my account that I had been having technical difficulties. Worth considering given your tight timeline!

Has anyone else used this Claimyr thing? Does it actually work or is it some kind of scam? I'm dealing with similar issues right now.

UPDATE: I finally got in!! The incognito mode suggestion actually worked! I also tried on Firefox instead of Chrome. It still glitched a couple times but eventually let me stay logged in long enough to submit my response to their questionnaire thing. Funnily enough, once I got in I discovered that my original deadline of the 18th was actually correct - I must have misread something or confused it with another notification. But at least it's done now! Thanks everyone for your help. I'm definitely bookmarking that tech support number and keeping these tips for next time (because I'm sure there will be a next time with how glitchy their system is).

Great news! For future reference, I recommend logging in at least once a week even when you don't need to submit anything. This helps prevent some of the authentication issues that happen when accounts go unused for periods of time. Also, if you haven't already, set up text alerts for your ESD account - they're more reliable than the email notifications.
