For what it's worth, Washington ESD benefits are among the better ones in the country. The maximum weekly amount is pretty decent compared to other states, and the duration is standard at 26 weeks.
One last tip - make sure you understand the difference between your weekly benefit amount and your maximum benefit amount. The weekly is what you get each week, the maximum is the total you can collect over the entire benefit year (weekly amount × 26 weeks).
One more tip - keep detailed records of your work hours and earnings. I use a simple spreadsheet with dates, hours worked, and gross pay. Makes filing the weekly claims much easier and gives you backup if there are ever questions.
Bottom line - yes you can work and collect unemployment in Washington, just be honest about it. The partial benefit system is actually designed to help people in exactly your situation. Good luck with the job search!
One thing to keep in mind - your former employer might contest your claim. Be prepared to provide detailed information about why you quit and what efforts you made to resolve the situation.
this has been super helpful - i was getting confused by all the different information online about federal vs state unemployment rules. now i know to focus on washington esd specific info when im researching my claim
One last thing - if you ever need to escalate an issue beyond Washington ESD, you can contact your state legislators office. They sometimes have staff who specialize in helping constituents with state agency issues. But for 99% of unemployment questions, Washington ESD is your primary resource.

Just to clarify something I saw mentioned earlier - you don't need to wait to file your claim, but you do need to have actually been separated from your job. So if you got notice but are still working, wait until your last day.

•Good point. In my case I was laid off yesterday so I'm clear to file today.

If anyone's still having trouble getting through to Washington ESD by phone when they need help, I had success with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. It's worth trying if you're stuck and need to talk to someone.

•How much does something like that cost? Is it worth it?

•For me it was worth it because I was spending hours trying to get through on my own. Saved me a lot of time and frustration when I needed answers about my claim.
