I've been filing weekly claims for 6 months now and it definitely gets routine. The hardest part is remembering to do it every week and keeping track of all your job applications. Set up a system that works for you.
Last thing - make sure your address and contact info is updated in your Washington ESD account. If they need to reach you about your weekly claim and can't, it can delay your benefits.
One more thing - if you bank online, change all your passwords and enable two-factor authentication if you haven't already. If they have your personal info, they might try to access your accounts.
Keep us updated on how it goes! This thread has been really helpful for learning about identity theft protection. Hope you get it resolved quickly.
The amount you get also depends on when you apply. They look at different base periods depending on when you file, so timing can matter if you had varying income throughout the year.
If you end up having issues with your claim or questions about your benefit amount, definitely try that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. I used it when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD about my weekly benefit amount being calculated wrong. Much easier than spending all day calling.
Final thought - low unemployment in 2024 might actually mean faster processing times since Washington ESD probably has fewer claims to handle compared to high unemployment periods. Silver lining!
Update: Used Claimyr after seeing it mentioned here and finally got through to Washington ESD. My claim was actually approved 3 days ago but I never got the notification. Definitely recommend trying it if you're stuck waiting.
That's great news! I'm going to try Claimyr today. Really appreciate everyone's help in this thread

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much more prepared to file my claim now. Sounds like I should qualify for a decent benefit amount based on my previous salary.

•You're welcome! Make sure you have all your employment information ready when you file - employer names, addresses, dates of employment, and reason for separation.

•Will do. I've been organizing all that paperwork this week.

One last tip - make sure you file your claim as soon as possible after becoming unemployed. Benefits don't start until the week you file, so any delay costs you money.
