For anyone still confused about Washington ESD processes, I had good luck getting clarification through that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Really helped me understand the timeline and requirements without spending all day on hold.
Bottom line: the waiting week is a pain but it's standard in Washington. File your weekly claim, do your job search, and your first payment should come the following week. Don't let it stress you out too much - it's just how the system works.
Don't forget about work search requirements! Even though you just filed, Washington ESD expects you to be actively looking for work from day one. If you haven't started job searching yet, that could be part of the issue.
Whatever the reason for denial, document everything and keep all correspondence from Washington ESD. If you do need to appeal, having a paper trail makes the process much smoother. Good luck!
Just wanted to add that if you received unemployment last year and forgot to report it on your taxes, you should file an amended return. The IRS will eventually catch it anyway and you'll owe penalties.
The tax withholding saved my butt this year. Got a small refund instead of owing money. If you're on the fence about it, just do it. The peace of mind is worth it.
The whole system seems designed to be as confusing as possible. I've been trying to understand my eligibility for weeks and still have questions about my specific situation.
Same here! I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and finally got answers from an actual Washington ESD representative. Worth checking out if you're as frustrated as I was.
One more thing to consider - make sure you're meeting all the job search requirements even if you're getting the maximum benefit. Washington ESD requires 3 job search activities per week regardless of your benefit amount.

also make sure your bank info is right in the system because if the direct deposit fails you have to wait for them to mail a check which takes forever

•Good point. I double-checked my routing and account numbers when I set it up but I should verify again.

One last thing - keep filing even if your payments seem delayed or stopped. Don't assume the worst and stop filing your weekly claims because that will definitely mess up your benefits.

•Yes, keep filing and then figure out the problem separately. Stopping your weekly claims just creates more problems.

•This is where Claimyr really helped me - I kept filing but used their service to get through to someone who could explain why my payments were delayed.
