TWC reversed denial after ID verification but claim still 'in review' - normal wait time?
Feeling really confused about my TWC claim status right now! I got an email yesterday saying they've reversed their denial decision after my identity was finally verified (took forever with that ID.me nonsense). But when I logged in to check my claim status, it still shows as 'in review' with no other updates. I've been going back and forth with TWC for almost 2 months now after getting laid off from my warehouse job.\n\nDoes anyone know how long it typically takes for a claim to move from 'in review' to actually being approved once they've reversed a denial? The bills are piling up fast and I'm getting nervous. I've already called the TWC number like 30 times but it's always busy or disconnects me. Should I be doing something else at this point? Really appreciate any advice!

This is actually pretty normal. When TWC reverses a denial decision, your claim doesn't automatically get approved. They first remove the denial, then your claim goes back into review status for a final determination. In my experience from last year, this took about 7-10 business days after the reversal notice. They have to verify your employment history, reason for separation, and wage information before making the final approval. Just keep requesting payment on your scheduled days even while it's in review status.

Thanks for the insight! That makes me feel a bit better. I wasn't sure if I should keep doing the payment requests while it's still in review. Do you remember if you got any additional correspondence before the final approval came through?

UGHHH this happened to me too and let me tell you the TWC system is RIDICULOUS!!! My claim was 'in review' for almost 3 WEEKS after they reversed their stupid denial. No explanation, no timeline, NOTHING! Just sitting there while my landlord was breathing down my neck for rent. The whole system is designed to frustrate you into giving up. Don't trust their emails or status updates - they're meaningless. Call every single day until you get someone!!!

I had a similar experience with my ID verification and denial reversal last month. After the reversal email, my claim stayed

Oh wow, that's helpful! I never heard of that service before. I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they explain what exactly happens during this final review process? I'm worried there might be some issue with my previous employer's response since we didn't part on great terms.

i used that claimyr thing too when i couldnt get thru to fix my work search issue. it worked but seems weird that we have to use a service just to talk to unemployment ppl. shouldnt they just have enough people answering phones??? texas smh

There's actually a specific workflow that happens after an identity verification reversal:\n\n1. TWC reverses the denial (which you've received notice about)\n2. Your claim returns to review status for final processing\n3. TWC checks if there are any OTHER issues besides the identity verification\n4. If clear, approval typically happens within 5-12 business days\n5. If there are other issues, they'll generate new correspondence\n\nMost important: continue submitting your payment requests on your scheduled days even while in review status. This ensures you'll receive all eligible back payments once approved.\n\nAlso, check your correspondence inbox daily for any new documents that might require action. Sometimes they'll send requests for additional information that can get missed.

This is super helpful, thanks! I've been checking my correspondence tab daily but nothing new has shown up. I'll keep doing the payment requests - I wasn't sure if I should since it still shows 'in review.' Do you know if there's a way to check if there are any 'other issues' with my claim without having to get through on the phone?

Unfortunately, there's no way to see all potential issues through the online portal. The claim status page only shows the primary status. Secondary issues are often only visible to TWC representatives. That's why getting through to a rep can be valuable - they can see the complete claim notes and tell you if there's anything else potentially delaying your claim.

omg this reminds me of my nightmare with twc last year!!! had the same thing but then turns out they wanted some document from my previous employer that was never sent. the status never changed from 'in review' but i was supposed to be uploading something?? make sure you check your action items section not just the correspondence tab!

Thanks for the tip! I just checked and there's nothing in my action items section either. This whole process is so stressful!

When I went through this after my job at the hospital ended, it took exactly 8 business days from reversal to approval. But my cousin who filed around the same time took almost 3 weeks! I think it really depends on your specific situation and maybe which office is handling your claim.\n\nI had a question though - was your denial specifically because of the identity verification issue, or were there other reasons listed? Sometimes they bundle multiple issues into one denial letter, but only one gets fixed at a time.

That's a good question - the denial letter specifically mentioned identity verification as the reason, so I'm hoping that was the only issue. I worked at my last job for 4 years before they downsized our department, so I don't think there should be any issues with my eligibility otherwise. The waiting game is just killing me!

Just wanted to follow up with one more suggestion - if your claim doesn't move from 'in review' to 'approved' within 10 business days, try contacting your state representative's office. They often have dedicated staff who can escalate unemployment issues. I had to do this last year when my claim was stuck for over a month, and things got resolved within 48 hours after their office made an inquiry. Don't wait too long to try this approach if other methods aren't working.

That's a really good idea, I hadn't thought of that! I'll definitely do that if I hit the 10-day mark. Do you just call their main office number?

Yes, call their main district office number and ask to speak with the staff member who handles constituent services or unemployment issues specifically. They'll usually have you fill out a release form so they can inquire about your case, but the process is pretty straightforward. They've seen tons of these cases, especially since the pandemic.

btw has anyone else noticed that the TWC website randomly logs you out when you're trying to check your claim status?? happened to me 4 times yesterday when i was trying to see if anything changed. their whole system is broken!!

UPDATE: I finally got through to TWC this morning after trying for hours! The representative said my claim is actually in the final approval stage and should be updated in the system by early next week. Apparently, the online status doesn't always show the current internal status. She also confirmed my payment requests have been recorded even though they're not showing up as processed yet. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your advice and sharing your experiences - it really helped me navigate this confusing process!

Great news! This is exactly why speaking with a representative is so valuable. The internal processing status is often different from what shows on the portal. Make sure you keep an eye on your correspondence tab and bank account early next week - you might receive multiple payments at once for the weeks you've already requested.
